Hi - Just returned over the weekend from 2 week family trip, staying at POP, find below short summary
Flights - United Airlines, 2 hour plus delay on the way out due to late incoming flight which meant our connection looked dead however we gained 45 mins on way out. Landed in Newark, went to the helpdesk who allowed us to jump the immigration queue, got our bags, chucked them into the transfers section, then had go through security again and queue was huge, spoke to guy at business class queue who allowed us to go through. Then it was a "Home Alone" style family run to the gate, got to the gate and guess what, they changed the gate, so off we run again. It was a good job my son is fit, he ran and stopped the lady from closing the door, got to gate, couldn't find passports but they told us to jump on.
Flights out were not a problem.
On the way back United changed the plane back to the UK and didn't inform us, got to airport to find they had split us all even though I had seats confirmed since last october. Managed to get three of them together and then swapped with another person on the plane itself. Everyone was complaining at the gate as alot of families had been split. Plane itself on the way back was very old but got us home on time.
On the whole as the prices were so cheap for August can't complain, would do again if I got similar prices
Hotel - stayed at Pop as we usually do, first week was like a ghost town, for those of you familiar with it, half the canteen area was closed off, it was that quiet. Then on the 25th (when US free dining kicked in) all hell broke loose, the place was packed, bus stop queues started to become long etc
The extra TV channels helped when resting late afternoon.
Weather - Isaac was a nuisance but it could have been worse. Went to Fantasmic one night and it got cancelled 5 mins before it was due to start. Rained heavy Tuesday morning. On the whole it was not that bad we did get alot of good hot, humid days
Parks - quiet first week alot busier the second week as free dining started, as long as you fastpass its manageable. Usual queues at TSM and Soarin but we did them a few times via fastpass. I can't wait until they finish Fantasyland, it is becoming a bit of an eyesore. The projection show on the castle is awesome, best low cost feature that Disney has added.
Shopping - did the regular family trips to the malls, appreciate the pound has dropped against the dollar but is it just me that thinks that the shopping is not as good as it used to be. Most things are just as cheap from the UK on the web
Next year - OK couldn't resist it so booked the bounceback free dining offer for next August (18th to 31st). Did not have leaflet in the room just called the number from the room. So cheap flights hunting starts all over again (Wayne please keep the boards hot on this)
That's about it for now. Any questions let me know
