Just back - Studio didn't work out

How do you make the eggs?

I bought a little dish with a cover at Target. It's specifically made for cooking eggs in the microwave. Cost a few dollars, but definitely worth it. Crack the egg right in the dish, scramble, cook about 1 min. I usually toast an English muffin or bagel while egg is cooking. Add a slice of cheese and you have a nice little homemade egg mcmuffin.

We always do a studio for the two of us even on our 14 night stays. We get pretty creative about meals we can make in our room (always have eggs for that protein boost in the morning) and we do a dinner or two as well just for an evening off. A kitchen would be nice but we're not willing to give up the points. When we go with DD 23 and DS28 we are now getting two studios-that way we get two bathrooms AND less points than a two bedroom. Works out really well for all of us.

I usually do 2 BRs and just discovered the 2 BR Value at AKV which is awesome. My DS17 will be old enough to stay in a studio with his brother next year, and I'm starting to consider 2 studios instead of the 2 BR. This will save some points, but also if their school/work schedules cause them to not be able to go, we can cancel one of the studios instead of being stuck with a 2 BR with just the two of us.

Ooh, nice. Thanks!

We are doing a studio at BLT - our home resort, before the DVC cruise. Where do I have to go for laundry? We loved the one bedroom there, and at Aulani, even though it is only the two of us. Forgot about the laundry, was just trying to stretch out the points.

Once you have experienced a 1 bedroom, it's hard to stay in a studio. For us, 2 adults, we book a 1 bedroom. When our third adult joins us, we book a 2 bedroom. :goodvibes

I agree. Even when it's just the two of us, we get a 1-bedroom. We tried a studio once, and although we managed, we felt crowded. We already have added points twice, and we may need to buy more. Last week we took another couple with us, had a 2-bedroom villa, and were feeling crowded by the end of the week. I know we're spoiled, but since we're in our 60's, we spend more time at the resort than younger people do. I can't see us being happy in a studio after enjoying larger units.

Laundry is on the first floor. I love to visit the top of the world lounge for a drink in between loads of laundry if im in a blt studio.

The resorts are the best. Once you've done the parks over and over through the years, the resorts are what make our vacations at WDW special. Taking the time to smell the roses and to study the different sights and sounds around the resorts without the crowds can really make my day or night. I may stay up overnight watching the crews decorating the resorts for Christmas, or taking the time to meet and talk to CM's at night when they have the time to open up and give you the chance to really get to know them.

DH and I ALWAYS get a 1 BR--I stay up later than he does and get up earlier! And I do a lot of freelance writing so I can get some work done while we're on vacation. DD, DGD 5 and I can manage just fine in a studio, because we're all up in the am at the same time and go to bed at the same time at night. When DH and I take my mom, we get a 2 BR.

DH and I have one day at the end of a family trip in May after everyone else goes home--we're in a BW studio for that night, so we'll see how it goes! When we run out of points and have to spend a few nights at Shades of Green, we do fine, but the rooms there are really big and the lobby is usually really quiet, if I need a place to get work done.

If I had more points, I'd never stay in less than a 1 BR, but alas...

LOL, I guess I'm more easily entertained. I just sit and watch the TV in the laundry room. That's why I really enjoy the laundry room set up at SSR, where you can jump in the pool while your laundry is in the machines.

We like having 1BR's when we stay at HHI because we tend to cook in our unit some (especially breakfast). But at WDW a studio is fine with us.We're really not in the room that often and do no cooking at all. I would rather go more often in a studio than less often in a 1BR.

I agree having a larger place to stay is always better but most of my trips are solo so a studio is just fine, however when I travel with more people we always select the larger rooms.

The 3 of us are OK in studios for 1 or 2 night trips; for longer, we get larger digs.

When it's just DH and I then a studio is perfect, if we bring anyone else along, then I almost always get a larger unit. Though if it's just a weekend trip with some girlfriends then I try and be economical with my points and just get a studio, but it gets hard.

When I travel with either my dd or my dh, a studio is more than fine. We have stayed in studios when all three of us have been together and had no issues. Dh gets the sleep sofa and dd and I share the bed.
I do like one bedrooms...they are terrific. But, I seldom cook on vacation...if I had to cook, it wouldn't be a vacation!! So, the full kitchen is wasted on me.

I took my first post-divorce trip with just my kids, dd and ds, last year. We booked a 2BR....never had more than a 1BR when married. I thought I was probably being irresponsible with my points but I gotta say....we each had our own bathroom, each had our own tv, each had our own space....and since I wanted to be able to de-stress too, it was really nice that each kid had their own space so I didn't have to listen to fighting all week. I don't know if I'll be able to go back to a 1BR, much less a studio.
