We just got back yesterday from our 10 night stay at WDW. The stay was split up with 3 nights at BLT and 7 at Beach Club, both 1 bedrooms, and we had a lakeview at BLT.

First off let me start by saying this is just our thoughts and not a bash and moan session.

DVC Background, Beachclub is our home resort and we have owned for 8 years.

After our 20 hour drive we stayed at an off site hotel for the night by the crossroads as we got down there the night before. Upon wakeup we ate our free breakfast and headed over to Bay Lake. Never before staying on the monorail before I was excited to stay so close. We had room 7804, which had a great view of the lake and of Magic Kingdom. The room was very spacious, and clean, not our decorating style but liked it for a vacation hotel room. We loved that there were 2 full baths in the room, and the kitchen space and cabinets are huge. The closeness to the MK,, cannot be beat, and the walk over to the Cont, was not bad at all. So we pretty much liked everything, the only thing that was kinda laking was the Pool area, just did not have that resort feel to it. We had no issues of anykind, from facilities to staff. So we stayed here 3 nights, and as we were heading over to BCV, I was wishing we stayed here the entire time, thats the impression it left on me, and I am a leader in the BCV fan club.:cool1:

Check in at BCV was fine and our room was not ready but we did not expect it to be so headed over to Hollywood Studios. So we got the text that our room was ready. So once we were done we headed back to our room. We had room 229. This was my first experience in a 1bedroom by it self, we usually just get a studio or a 2 bedroom. The room was neat and tidy but just very tired looking, and everything looked well used. And I am not sure if all 1 bedrooms are like this but what is with the maze of 4 doors in a matter of 5 feet by the bathroom. So many times during the week, we felt like we were going thru a maze to get into a certain part of the bathroom. ( we missed the 2 bathrooms from BLT) When we had the 2 bedroom we did not have doors like this. So not sure if its just were we where in the building or what, but it was a PITA. Alot of the towel racks, and TP holders were well used and the silver rings that cover the screws that attached to the wall were loose and hanging and would not clip back on. Both elevators from the main entrance of villas both need to be tidied up, phone door wont close just hangs open, lights out on buttons etc.

It just seemed like the whole villa are is starting to show some age and its use. Which is totally understandable as my wife kept saying its 8 years old or so, and you just came from a year old hotel. So in our opinion and it maybe already in the plans but I think DVC needs to start going thru rooms and updating them and refreshing them, because in our opinion BCV's is due for a refurb.

Like I previously stated this is not a ***** session, and it had no affects on our vacation and did not complain to anyone about anything, as none of it was a REAL issue to us. I guess we just always held BCV on a higher pedastal as its our home resort, and you always here people rave about it. As we still do, but we ( myself, wife and 4 1/2 DD) really like BLT. And my DD kept telling me she missed BLT, except for the pool, as she loves BC's pool as we do to.

So I guess in closing if this thread even has a purpose:), we think BCV needs a sprucing up and give BLT a shot and you may like it. We did. And since we have been back a full 24 hours now, of course the wheels are spinning for the next trip and we are thinking a split stay between AKL and BLT.

Overall it was an excellent trip and nothing to really bash about except for Crystal Palace losing our table ticket, and sat about 40 minutes worth of people before us. I kept asking and they said just need to be wait to be seated as our table was ready. So after 20 so minutes of this, I went to manager and he looked it up and said " Oh we lost your ticket" That was all he said no apologies or anything. But the Halloween Party on Halloween was awesome and not as packed as we thought it would be. The entire trip was fantastic and can't wait til the next one.

Thanks! I agree BC needs some updates. I want to stay at BLT but the points seem so much more for my limited point budget.

At least you got the best of both words being close to two different parks.

Great report!! :goodvibes

BCV is so well loved, they can't refurb it fast enough. We were there last Oct and had a refurbed 1 bedroom and maintenance was painting the elevators.

The carpeting was still pretty new also.

Yeah elevators are in need again, but it is understandable as think of how many people per day every day use them, strollers, suitcases etc.

Also I would like to mention about the Roof Top at Top of the World. Its not very kid friendly as the 4 1/2 or 5 ft foot solid concrete wall along the edge. While I completely understand its purpose, I think they could of put in a plexiglass viewing are for the little ones, so they could sit or something. If the tikes want to see the fireworks, you need to hold them or on your shoulders. In my opinion your better off doing the research and getting a room with a MK view even in your in a lakeside room and watch from your balcony if your points allow.

I just got home from a stay at BLT and BWV and I don't know if I'll go back to BLT. We go for the F&W and I enjoy being able to walk back to my room at night (rather than the monorail crush).

I like the room decor at BLT but the bathroom amenities need help. In the second bathroom, there's no counter space (especially when there are two adults sharing the bathroom), no hooks to hang up clothes, no soap holders and that shower just about takes your skin off.

I just don't spend enough time at the MK however I was in EPCOT every day (at least for awhile). Thank goodness Boardwalk is my home!

We are at BCV now in a one bedroom (129) and I commented to my DH that everything looked updated. The "coffee table" thing in the living room looks brand new. I did notice the hallway carpets are looking dirty but like someone mentioned this is a high traffic resort so I am not shocked! Still love my DVC! Wouldn't have it any other way :)

Thank you for the honest review about both resorts. It sounds like you had a great trip (your Crystal Palace experience aside). :goodvibes

There should not be any reason for the doors to the bathroom in the one bedroom to be different from the Master Bathroom in a 2 bedroom. Now the actual room size can vary at BCV but the division of rooms should be the same.

I stayed in a 1 BR at BCV in August and had the same impression as you. Everything looked fresh and relatively new...but the exterior hall carpets were just filthy.

OP, I'm sorry you got a bad room at BCV. I know there was a soft refurb in the last few years and it really showed in the room I stayed in. And I have to say, I totally agree with you about all the bathroom doors - I appreciate how large the bathrooms are and I love the extra big vanity in with the jacuzzi tub, but all those doors can be annoying.
