Just returned from a wonderful five nights at BCV. It was a great trip but there was a few annoyances and I was wondering if anyone else has observed these. People smoking while walking through the parks. Saw this each and every day and the most disappointing part is that CM's would walk right by these people without saying a word. Flash photography in attractions. Again a constant on almost every attraction with no CM present. My suggestion at guest relations was why not just allow it if nothing could be down to stop it. We ate lunch outside at Casey's one day and had to move inside because despite the signs every three feet stating do not feed the birds, people feel the need to feed the birds, some while practically leaning on the signs. Makes it tough to eat your lunch when birds are dive bombing the tables trying to get to the food these people are giving them. Again, no CM enforcement. And last but not least, it was amazing how many people do not get the concept that when an elevator door opens, most likely people will be getting off the elevator, and you should let the people off the elevator before trying to enter it. We had families trying to push through us as we would be exiting the elevator. Almost forgot one more. The family that thought everyone was being rude when dad set up a camera on a tripod on one side of the bridge next to France, to take a family portrait on the other side of the bridge, and nobody would stop crossing the bridge. This guy wanted no one to cross the bridge until he got his picture. None of this spoiled our trip even a little, just seems that more and more people are either oblivious to the fact that other people are in the parks with them, or that they just don't care.

All of those drive me crazy! The mob mentality on the elevators is terrible. What I do is say very loudly" EXCUSE ME BUT WE NEED TO GET OFF BEFORE YOU GET ON. DON'T BE RUDE!!. They take the hint and get out of our way. I find the real morons are the ones that literally climb over my mom's ecv to get in when we are trying to get out! I have now taken to getting off the elevator and literally putting our my arms to block people til my mom gets out. I don't put up with any of that nonsense at Disney anymore!

I did notice this our last trip too. Why do people feel the need to be so rude? If Disney has these rules they should enforce them.

I do the same thing getting out of some elevator's, if they don't like my elbows then let me out first.

Your post made me a chuckle a bit. I haven't noticed the smoking thing but my dh is a smoker (trying to quit again). He is a very considerate smoker though and smokes far away from the crowd. I know not all smokers think about the feelings or health of others and it aggrevates both of us. He would never smoke near my dd so it ticks him off when other people think it's okay.

I agree with you on the don't feed the birds. Those folks should visit SeaWorld. You can't eat outside without getting attacked by birds and squirrels! And people think it's cute. I personally do not enjoy being stalked during lunch.

People really are unbelievable. When I'm trying to get off the elevator and can't because someone is pushing in I say, loudly, "ELEVATOR ETIQUETTE"! Good for you for maintaining a sense of humor - I actually enjoy rude people at times because they give me something to laugh at later!

Yes, I completely understand what you are tallking about. Some people are so rude, then again, some people are really nice too :)

The whole smoking thing drives me nuts!!
While staying at the BWV last month, I had the unfortunate pleasure of dealing with one of these people.

While we were sitting at the kiddie pool a woman asked me if she could take one of our chairs that we had a towel on. After giving a quick thought I said yes, as I though my two DD's could share a chair. Big mistake!!!

Soon after she planted herself 6 inches away from my family. She decided to light up just as we were eating our lunch. What the #*&%!!! How rude.

Now I should mention that DD3 has had cancer and is sensitive to a lot of things. So, I am a little more sensitive to these matters. Reguardless, WHO SMOKES AT THE KIDDIE POOL!!!!! I did ask her in my most polite voice if she wouldn't mind not smoking near the children. She shot me a dirty look and kept smoking!!!! Maybe I should have said " Could you kindly stop exposing my DD's to a known cause of cancer!!! B#$#@!

My husband wanted to move. I said no way. I told a CM instead. She was great at asking her to move to the smoking section. (on the otherside of the pool!!!! YES!!!!

I hate RUDE people!!! I hate them more at WDW!!! :rotfl2:

I should have included that also. We did meet allot of really nice people on this and every trip. They definitely do out number the inconsiderate ones by far.

Oh, I agree with you all. My DH and I say, we love everything about WDW except the people....the rude and inconsiderate people.

Last year was probably the worst thing we encountered. While riding Splash Mountain, a family of 3 teens and one adult sat in the seats infront of my family (DH, DS and guest) These kids broke every rule in the book...touching the scenery...pushing off the sides trying to rock the log.....splashing water from the ride at each other....picking garbage out of the water...when I finally said something to them...they decided to splash water on me and my family and not playfully...they were trying to soak us. Oh....let's not forget when one of the morons stood up during the final drop! We were horrified during the entire ride. :scared:

I alerted a CM immediately at the end of the ride...and she immediately told another CM. I was dissapointed at the 2nd CM because he just stood there. He apologized because he could tell we were all visablly shaking....because we were literally terroized during the ride. I finally made him go out to the picture vewing area with me so I could point them out. He did approach them...but did not kick them out of the park!

Now...I thought if you disreguard and outright break the rules....especially the ones that endanger your life or other's lives....you would be asked to leave!

They weren't. So we spent all day at the MK looking over our shoulder hoping not to run into them again.

I sometimes wonder...is it just me? Do I expect too much? We meet so many nice people when we are there...(only 19 more days until our next trip!!! ) but I was soooo disappointed in how the CM handled this... :confused3

I try and defend the lack of elevator etiquette by saying people come on vacation from rural areas where there isn't a building with an elevator for miles and miles- but even the most common of common sense would dictate that people need to get out of there before you go in there. It's Disney and people are probably just excited about hitting the parks, etc.

Poor bridge guy-- trying to take a picture in the parks on a crowded day is almost impossible. I think a good game show challenge would be to have someone try and take a picture of their friend in front of the Partners statue in front of the castle...from ten feet away...in mid-afternoon...after a parade lets out. Some things are just not worth the frustration---come back later or pick a new spot.

re: the guy in france trying to take a picture. what really annoys me are the people with the videocameras. they stand there for a long time not caring that there are other people around. Re: the elevator, this happens everywhere not just at disney. re: smoking in undesignated areas, these are probably the people who drive in the breakdown lanes and make up their own driving rules. You are always going to find people who are inconsiderate and feel they can make up their own rules.

just got back....i got ran over or rammed into by a stroller 24 times and my DBF got ran over 32 times...we actually kept count because we couldnt believe it!

I can empathize and soon I will be in your shoes. Maybe I will try an avoid elevators! I will not be well with being hit by strollers however.

My family decided on our last trip that when I cross under the 'Welcome to Disney World" sign I apparently turn invisible. It's the only explanation for the fact that people cut in front of me, run right over me with strollers, shove me to the side, stand right in front of me at events (even though I was there first) etc. I did lose it the last trip. I mentioned it in my trip report. My nearly 80 year old mother was trying to cross the rope bridge to exit AK when some moron of a grown man jumped on it right behind her and started forcing it to sway and nearly knocking her over. I got right in his face and screamed at him. Which I never ever do. I never raise my voice at all, but that was just too much. A small kid would certainly have been knocked down and my tiny mom was having a pretty rough time staying on her feet.

I can't stand them! Some people use those stupid strollers like weapons. Last time we were walking through Frontierland and it was nearly empty, this woman slammed into my sister with the stroller (the street was empty! She had fifty feet of clearance!) and then just as my sister got her balance back the husband comes along and slammed her again with another stroller! :furious:

I don't think I've ever been hit by a stroller and I go to WDW quite a bit. I have been nailed by ab ECV once or twice. No big deal though.

I agree! I have some pet peeves of my own. This is a good place to share.

1. Why all the wheelchair spaces in the parking lots. It makes me mad that some of them are doublewide for vans and this just takes up too much space. I think the wheelchair spaces should be in the back of the lots or create a lot for w/c's only and charge double. Since they are wheelchairs, they can travle further and should not be allowed to force us walking folk to walk further.

2. I hate it when there are so many people ahead of me at the turnstiles to enter the parks. Don't they realize that I am more important. Maybe I should just have my own private entrance.

3. Strollers! Strollers! If they are too young to walk through the park, then they shouldn't be there. An infant has no idea who Mickey and Minnie are.

4. Groundhogs. Not the cute animals on February 2. I'm talking about those park guests who seek-out and reserve space on the ground for parades, shows, etc. 12 hours before the shows happen. I personally will walk by them and "accidentally" kick them in their fat &$@.

5. AP holders. You guys are the worst. Just because you fork out thousands of dollars to visit the parks everyday doesn't give you the right to think that you own the place. Whether you are a first time guest or it's your first time this week, you are still a guest and you should act the part. Guest means that you are visiting someone else's place. When you get back from visiting a family member's house, do you complain that grandpa was outside smoking, or that you couldn't find a parking place because the neighbors were having company too?

Finally, I have this question for those who love to complain about their Disney experiences. What do you think others are saying about you when you are in the park? Moving because of the birds, complaining about a complete stranger who is smoking and probably doesn't know that he shouldn't be, griping because somebody is trying to take a picture on a bridge. How could your trip NOT have been ruined by all of this. Sounds to me like your expectations are a bit too high and that you have been sniffing too much Pixie Dust.

You are what I often refer to as a FUNGRABBER. You can't have fun unless you are taking the fun away from others. You are selfish and think you have special rights or privilages that other Disney guests don't. Maybe you need to stay away from Disney for a few years and let others enjoy themselves a bit.

As I said, I agree with your point...

This includes you. Have a magical day. :)

What comes to mind the most is when we were watching the ak parade a my son was standing in the front by the ropes and this lady wanted to take a video and kept pushing him behind her with her hand. :furious:
She did this twice before I said excuse me and stood in front of her. Aint no pushin this momma. :rotfl2:

I must jump to the defense of the rural folks. The majority of us have encountered an elevator in the past and understand the simple concept of letting people off, before we get on. It is similar to unloading the cows from the trailer into the pasture, before loading more on to take back to the barn, right? :rotfl:
