This was our first time on the dining plan and we took advantage of the free dining offered ... we stayed at ASSports from 9/19/08-9/27/08 (8 nights).

This is just a brief review ... just my DH and self, celebrating 25 years of marriage.

First night was at Cap'n Jack's. Very good. The service was great and so were the lobster tails!

Next night (Sat) was at San Angel Inn ... great atmosphere, Veronica was a super waitress, good Sangria, good chips & salsa. Not so crazy about the menu though. Food was fine but was hoping for something a little different.

Sunday night (5:00 pm) was HDDR in the third tier. This was our second time at this dinner show and it was GREAT. Everything up to snuff ... 3rd tier seating was okay, but I think it is a little nicer down on the floor.

Monday was Mama Melrose ... I don't know why this restaurant gets bad reviews ... we LOVED IT!! The service was good and the food EXCELLENT!! It was raining out and they were turning so many people away ... we were seated in an aisle-way but this did not prove to be a problem at all. We will definitely go back to this restaurant!!

Tuesday - Biergarten. Lots of fun and the food was good. The Bavarian Cheesecake was by far the star of the show!!! Loved that they had everything labeled. Was surprised how good the food was ... the sausage was not "greasy" at all ... lots of selection for those who did not want meat-and-potatoes.

Wednesday - Teppan Edo. WOW ... we absolutely loved this place. The food was EXCELLENT and the service was wonderful as well. I was very surpised at how quickly my DH picked up the chopsticks. All-in-all this was a wonderful experience and this restaurant will be on our list for the next visit.

Thursday - O'Hana. This was always a big favorite of ours, but just thought it was okay this time. I didn't think we got the attention from the servers that we had in the past and the menu has changed. We were given cupcakes and a special Anniversary dance ... happened to be our "first dance" song from our wedding - how weird is that!! I still like O'Hana but think I'll pass on it our next visit.

We did have a Boma reservation for Friday but I cancelled when I found out the Wine and Food Festival started on that day. We were able to use our snack credits and that worked out GREAT!! Even for the $7 Lobster Rolls!! The only problem we that it was the first day and the kiosk lines were s-oooooooooo sl----------ow!!! It really prevented us from sampling a lot of places or trying the beer and wine. What we did have was great.

In summary, even though the DDP did not include an appitizer, it was still a lot of food. We found that we were having to force ourselves to get out and use our counter service early so we would be ready for dinner. That is usually way more than we normally eat.

Speaking of counter service, Wolfgang Puck Express was the big surprise/hit of the trip. My gosh!! You get this great table-service quality of meal for a counter-service credit!! No way would I pay that OOP, but on the DDP it was a real bargain. My DH got a sandwich, drink, dessert and I had a salad, drink, dessert and it came to about $38!!! Very good though.

My DH got to plan a couple rounds of golf at $50 a round - but didn't make tee-times in advance so was unable to get on the Magnolia course.

We enjoyed ourselves enough that we signed up for the bounce-back offer, but staying at POP. We do plan on renting a car next year ... the bus service is awful and it wasn't just our resort either!!! They would wait to send a bus until there were at least 3 bus loads of people. After O'Hana we went to the MK to get the bus to our resort ... it was a full hour after the park closed and there were at least 5 bus loads of people at EACH of the All Star resorts and at the Carribbean resort. Not sure was the other bus lines were like but "in the old days" that would have never have happened. Really not sure what it's all about ... but we plan to rent a car next time.

All in all - glad we went and the price was right!

P.S. Absolutely ESSENTIAL to make ADR's 180 days out!!!!

Great review! Glad to hear you liked CapNJacks and Teppan Edo. These are 2 we have never tried but are considering. I can't figure out what the difference is between Teppan and Tokyo Dining. The menus look the same, but I guess I am missing something.

Thanks for your great reviews. We love Biergarten; we skipped it this year, but we will be back there next year.

Congrats on 25 years of marriage ( 26 years here ;) ) and great reviews. :goodvibes

The difference in the Japan restaurants is that Teppan Edo is where they fix your food on the grill/table in front of you. The Tokyo Dining is off the menu and at regular tables. The menus are very different from each other ... TE you will be seated with others if our party is less than 8. At TE the meals all seemed to be chicken breast, steak, shrimp or a combination of two ... also mushrooms w/ the steak and the vegetables were onion, squash, noodles. Everything was great! No need to order appetizers.

Mama Melrose ... My husband got the Pork Marsala and I got the wood grilled chicken (receipt says Pipette w/ Chicken though). DH got Choc Truffle Cake for dessert and I had the Tiramisu ... both very, very good. Additionally, I ordered a couple glasses of Sangria ($6 each) which were also very good. Also served rolls/butter so no need for appetizer.
