We just got back from a split stay between a standard view room at the Yacht Club and a tower Magic Kingdom view room at the Contemporary. Here's what we thought. :)

Yacht Club--we had standard view room 2040 which had a beautiful view of the quiet pool. It was a really great view for a standard view room category. The room itself was spacious and comfortable, and it even had a flat screen TV that the bellman said had only been put in a few of the rooms so far. The room was very quiet, and it was conveniently laid out. The mattresses were wonderful, and I wonder if they were new too. The Cast Members here were very friendly, and we felt like welcome guests. The lobby looked very nice with its Christmas decorations, though it's not as elaborate as some of the other deluxe resorts. Overall, I would very gladly stay here again. We like the fact that it has a quieter atmosphere than the Beach Club and that it feels very luxurious and has a great location. Here are some pictures:

Contemporary--we had Magic Kingdom view room 4526 on the ninth floor of the tower. We thought the new room decor looked very upscale and truly contemporary in style. I much preferred the nicer comforters over the ones they have at the other deluxe resorts--they are much softer. We thought the living/bedroom area was nicely laid out, especially if you're there for work since there is a nice desk area complete with computer that has free Internet access. The view was absolutely wonderful! It was so neat to be able to watch Wishes from our balcony and see the castle whenever we wanted to. I do have two criticisms of the Contemporary though. The first is the noise level that comes up to the rooms (and we were up on the 9th floor) from Chef Mickey's. It wasn't bothersome when the regular dining was going on, but about once every half our a CM got on a microphone to broadcast to the entire restaurant. That was super loud, and it was really annoying when we were trying to sleep in. Since Chef Mickey's is open early in the morning and late at night, it can be quite bothersome. For the price they charge for the tower rooms, I feel that Disney could've tried harder to soundproof the rooms. My other criticism is the layout of the bathroom. The towel rod is way on the other side of the bathroom, so you basically have to either call for someone in the room to hand you a towel or get cold walking over to the towel rod yourself after your shower. Also, the new sinks are very cool looking, but they leave way too little counter space for your toiletries. So while the view was wonderful and the room decor was upscale, the annoyances of the noise level and the bathroom layout were negatives. I probably wouldn't rush to stay here again. Welcome back! GREAT reviews and great pictures!! :thumbsup2 You make me want to try both resorts (someday!)!! :)

I have a question: location-wise, which is more convenient, the Beach Club or the Yacht Club?? Is one of them closer to transportation or the parks than the other?? Thanks!

Awesome pics. The contemporary decor really does look great. I wish I could bring myself to pay those prices! Til then, I will have to live vicariously through the pics posted on DIS =)

The Beach Club is closest to Epcot. if you're in one of the easternmost rooms, you're less than a five minute walk from the International Gateway.

Great pics!

I'm curious if you had a pic from your balcony that isn't "zoomed" on the MK - so it would show what it looks like with just your eye?

We stayed in the CR garden wing several years ago and really enjoyed it!

Thanks for your report. We're thinking Y/C for our next vacay or maybe BC or maybe Poly......:rotfl:. My list is endless. Y/C looks very nice & so does the CR. Maybe a split stay is in store for us. Did it go smoothly? We have 3 kids to move as well so thats a consideration for us. A split stay between a MK resort and Epcot resort sounds wonderful.

Thanks for the great report and wonderful pictures. We stayed at the YC in June 2007 and had a Jr. Suite on the 4th floor. Can't remember the room number if my life depended on it. It was very spacious. Had two queen beds with a pull out sofa in the sitting area. It overlooked SAB. The walk to Epcot was really nice. Although we were never that interested in staying at CR the room looks really nice. Thanks again. Happy Holidays everyone.:santa:

Thank you for the report! We are scheduled to stay at the Atrium Club at CR in June, would be our first time. I have mixed feelings about our upcoming stay.

Also, loved to see the flat screens at YC (our favorite resort, I assume they will do the same with the TVs at BC). Although, I am really missing Y&BC right now.
I keep thinking, still time to change our June ressies and do a split stay!

Glad you had a nice trip!

The Contemporary has the monorail going through the resort right to MK. Very, very quick. The BC/YC are Epcot resorts. You walk to Epcot. You can also walk to MGM but that is a bit further. I've never had any bus issues at the YC/BC. On average I've only had to wait 20-25 minutes for any bus to AK or MK. IMO that is not a long time to wait.

Elizabeth,

Thanks for the great reviews and pictures. We were considering the Yacht Club for our next trip because Epcot is our favorite park. Ultimately, we decided on the AKL and Poly. It will be our first split stay. Any tips about split stays will be appreciated.

Great Pics! I love the view from CR. But the rooms are definately not my style. I think YC looks great though. Glad you had a nice time.

? if you are staying in the garden wing, is there any common area in CR to see the castle? Thanks

Thanks for your review of the Contemporary. I kind of agree and disagree with you about hearing the noise from Chef Mickey's. I agree that depending on where your room maybe that you might hear the noise and etc, however in the past when my family and I have had a room over Chef Mickey's we did not think it was that bad.

There is the 4th floor observation decks, which are located by the B.V.G. and Sundries stores.

HockeyMom:

We are also staying at the CR in June. What are your concerns? This is the first time we are staying on property. The cost was steep which was a concern but I went for the convenience to the monorail, park etc. with a 77year mother, 17yr son, and 3yr niece.

Thanks for the compliments on the pictures!

SeaSpray, the BC and YC are pretty much equally convenient to the parks. The BC is very slightly closer to Epcot than the YC, but we’re not talking about much difference at all. I’d pick the one that the theme/atmosphere appeals to you the most and stay at that one.

Disney Freak Numero Uno, yes, the computer came in our room at the Contemporary. The Internet access was also free using that computer.

Selket, let me see if I can find a non-zoomed picture from our balcony. I’m pretty sure I took one, but I’ll have to check on my home computer.

JJ&JSMOM, we drove our own car, so that made splitting our stay pretty painless. We don’t have kids to try to get packed up though. My only concern would be that you wouldn’t have a room for the kids to rest in between the check out time at the first resort and the check in time at the second resort.

Great pictures!

I was actually surprised with the decor of the YC, I thought it would be more frilly so that is a pleasant surprise.

I really like the decor of the CR! Your pictures of the CR almost, but not quite, make me want to try CR again. Stayed there once and it was more than enough for me. :goodvibes
