We spent May 22-29 at WDW, no dining plan and only 2 ADRs for the whole trip. One for Boma and one for 'Ohana. Since the reviews on 'Ohana range so wildly I have been waiting to hit it on a bad night. NOT YET!!! We have probably eaten at 'Ohana about 7 times and this one was the very best! We arrived for our 9:35 ressie at 9:15. The hostess apologized and told us they were 20 minutes behind. However we were only seated 2 minutes late.

Our cousin was Heather and she was great. As usual they got the salad, wontons and wings out quickly followed shortly by the noodles and veggies. Then usually there is a bit of a wait for the meat to come around. They got to us very quickly with the beef; medium rare and very good! Within minutes they brought around the turkey and pork. Both were wonderfully juicy and cooked perfectly. Then the shrimp! It was wonderful!

They have a couple of new sauces since we were there last. They still had the peanut sauce (yum) but had sweet and sour and a spicy mustard sauce too. The spicy mustard is my new favorite! It was good on everything.

The waiters came around with seconds on meat in a timely manner although we didnt get any seconds except shrimp. Then of course the Bread pudding which was wonderful. Usually, we get 2 of those but had no room this time.

I was worried that the service or availability of the different meats would be limited arriving as late as we did but that was not the case. We had great attention for the whole time we were there and it was nice as the restaurant emptied and became a little quieter.

:thumbsup2

Thanks for a great review! I am looking forward to eating at Ohana (breakfast and dinner) next month.

Thanks for the review. 'Ohana was our first WDW meal in 2006 and DH and I loved it (ok ... well we did eat lunch at Electric Umbrella in Epcot first but 'Ohana was the first TS... ).

Later that week we discovered Kona Cafe so did not make it back to 'Ohana in later visits. But I can see I am going to put that on the list for next trip! :thumbsup2

We did Kona last trip for the first time instead of 'Ohana. We really enjoyed that too but DD insisted on 'Ohana this time.

We tried Ohana for the first time last month and enjoyed it.
As we were served bread pudding, the place filled up with thick smoke (because the fans turned off) because of a power outage and everyone was asked to leave. So we didn't get seconds on the bread pudding!

Thanks so much for that great review. This will be our first time there and I was a little concerned about our ressie time of 8:50pm. Glad to hear the food and service were still good at that time of evening. Were you able to see Wishes?

Thanks for the great review!:goodvibes We've always had a wonderful time there and really enjoy the food. Sadly, on our last visit, the food was so good that we forgot to leave rooms for 2nds on the bread pudding...:sad2: I made an ADR for our upcoming trip and hopefully we can go again and not make the same mistake twice.:rotfl:

Thanks for the advice. :goodvibes We'll pace ourselves and try not to fill up before dessert. We have an ADR for Ohana at 8:55pm end of August :sad1:...only time slot that they had during our entire trip...we were lucky to even be able to get that.

'Ohana's is our favorite! We got a very late ADR this time for 9:40. Could you tell me if they still have the coconut races, kids hula lesson... at that time of night?

Glad you enjoyed it yet again! It is the only place thet my husband ever remembers about dining at Disney :headache:....and he absolutely has to go there every time...Which is perfectly wonderful fro my DD and I since we love it so much also! ( I just don't get how that is the only place he remembers tho LOL!)

I want to try this for breakfast. I am also interested in the races and hula sessions too! How was Bomas? Subbing

Ohana is awesome, I was talking about how good it was at work today. Those shrimp are amazing and the dessert OMG!!

Thanks for the awesome review! We're eating here for dinner for the first time in September and I'm really looking forward to it! :thumbsup2

Just happened by and saw some questions about the races and such. Sorry it took so long to reply! :goodvibes

Just when they were seating us they were finishing up the last singing and races for the night.

As for Wishes...on this particular night Wishes occurred before our time but in past visits we have been able to see Wishes and it was great. We have never asked for a particular table but every time except one we were seated by the windows.

It makes me melancholy to think about it now. I need an 'Ohana fix!!!

Thank you for sharing your experience and all the details. We just made reservations there for Sept 9/16 for somewhere about 5-6pm.. don't have the info in front of me...

We look forward to having a GREAT time!
