The late opening at AK is probably Mikie Isner's latest idea on how to save a few bucks. Don't know why other than that. All I know is that if you don't take the bus you will not be a happy camper. The CMs were all there in their little 'hut' drinking coffee and BSing- but those booths weren't manned until EXACTLY 8:45 AM. All I could do was sit and seeth as I watched the resort buses go in and out on their road
The number of people that get up and get there by that time of day are limited- the number that drive their cars are fewer still. I doubt there are many other Disers that have been there to see this, but you may get a few responses to your post...
The bugs weren't bad at all, as PirateFan said. I think the bug problem was because of the unusually dry conditions they had there in May- didn't notice it being a problem the past two weeks as the frequent rain may have kept them at bay.
We packed light sweatshirts and never used 'em.
The two other Eride nights we did were on good weather nights. One of then was from 10-1, and it was packed out. Not long lines, but 10 min or so on most things- a bit longer in Fantasyland. The second good weather Enite was 11-2 and it was busy early with some short waits, then emptied out a bit as the young kids and their parents bailed out.
Mission Space and TT were open until 9 while we were there.
The temps were low to mid nineties every day- with thunderstorms every day but this past Wed and Thurs. Two of the days it rained all afternoon and all evening. Very humid the entire trip except for this past Thursday. Early AM weather when we got up was mid 70s and sunny every day. The thunderstorms closed down the frontierland mountains a couple of times while we were there, so ride them early to be safe.
I didn't see a lot of lime green while there either minimate. But with 40,000 other people in the park it is pretty hard to spot
Blessings
