Got home from a two week trip this afternoon :) Will be throwing a trip report together over the next few days, but thought I would offer to answer any questions you may have :)

Was hot and VERY crowded, but the longest line I stood in was 10-15 minutes :)

Blessings.

Were any of the parks open past the "official" time posted on the WDW site?

I just got back too -- thought of you mic_key_mouse... as I knew you were there when I was! Didn't see ya though -- I don't think! Unless you saw a group of people with lime green bandannas tied to two double strollers!

Eeyoregirl... I didn't notice any of the parks staying open LATER... other than e-ride nights... but Epcot's FW rides (spaceship earth, Mission Space and Test Track were open after 7 p.m. -- I think that's pretty common though...)

No- they didn't stay open late- and they didn't open early either. They did allow you into the 'main street' areas at all parks, but the rope didn't drop until official opening time.

At the AK, we drove our car the first day (non EMH) and they didn't let us past the parking gate until 8:45. If you are onsite take the bus. We were one of the first cars in- and there were throngs of resort guests at the turnstiles by the time we got there because they took the bus.

The exception to being open late is the MK. The second Spectro STARTS at 11:00- so you can see the parade after the park 'closes'. Same with Fantasmic- no attractions running, but you can see that. We went to 3 E ride nights and a lot of people not doing E nite were just walking around enjoying an empty park- so that is an option, too, if you don't mind not seeing attractions :)

Blessings :)

Thanks for the tips.

We're leaving this Thursday (yea!) and we're also staying onsite (CBR). Some of us are planning on doing e-nights and we are also doing EMH.

Is WDW opening until midnight or later a thing of the past? Oh well....

I am still soooooooo excited!!!

mic_key-mouse.... did you do e-night that monday night (6/14) that it rained all afternoon? We bought tix for it beforehand and my dad and dh flat out refused to let me go back into the parks with the kids -- saying it was too rainy and lightning... I never saw the lightning... anyway it KILLED me not to use the enight tickets. I was so mad!!! And the kids were awake enough to go... they (my dad and dh) were just nervous (or too tired) to take them!

We did E ride the Monday before that one (6/7). They cancelled both Spectros due to rain and lightning, but they had Wishes. We stood in front of the castle with MAYBE 300 other people in the park in a light drizzle and watched without actually being shoulder to shoulder. By 11 the rain stopped and there were MAYBE 100-200 other people there for Eride. We rode all the mountains over and over and never had to get out of the car/log/train. Was great :)

Blessings :)

How bad were the bugs? Mosquitos? Did you need a sweatshirt at all?
Thanks,
Irene

We are still here and also went to E-night on Monday. The rain had stopped by 11:00 and there was hardly anyone there. Stayed on Big Thunder and Splash for multiple rides. We are going to try another E-night next Monday. Too tired to go tonight. Hopefully it won't rain at all.

No, you don't need a sweatshirt. It has been pretty comfortable in the evenings. Although, at 9:00 p.m. it was still 90 degrees.

Mosquitos are not to bad.

Looking forward to your trip report.::yes:: :wave2:

Glad you had a good time, I can't wait until we go....Imagine by then that the heat will really be intolerable.....that's o.k. we've done it before so we know what to expect.

Again, glad you had fun

Hey Mic_key_Mouse - hope you had a great trip. Can't wait to see the report.

Any idea why they were doing this at AK? No one else seems to have experienced this before.

Could you please tell everyone how crowded the E-ride nights were? Did you wait long for rides?

The late opening at AK is probably Mikie Isner's latest idea on how to save a few bucks. Don't know why other than that. All I know is that if you don't take the bus you will not be a happy camper. The CMs were all there in their little 'hut' drinking coffee and BSing- but those booths weren't manned until EXACTLY 8:45 AM. All I could do was sit and seeth as I watched the resort buses go in and out on their road :(

The number of people that get up and get there by that time of day are limited- the number that drive their cars are fewer still. I doubt there are many other Disers that have been there to see this, but you may get a few responses to your post...

The bugs weren't bad at all, as PirateFan said. I think the bug problem was because of the unusually dry conditions they had there in May- didn't notice it being a problem the past two weeks as the frequent rain may have kept them at bay.

We packed light sweatshirts and never used 'em.

The two other Eride nights we did were on good weather nights. One of then was from 10-1, and it was packed out. Not long lines, but 10 min or so on most things- a bit longer in Fantasyland. The second good weather Enite was 11-2 and it was busy early with some short waits, then emptied out a bit as the young kids and their parents bailed out.

Mission Space and TT were open until 9 while we were there.

The temps were low to mid nineties every day- with thunderstorms every day but this past Wed and Thurs. Two of the days it rained all afternoon and all evening. Very humid the entire trip except for this past Thursday. Early AM weather when we got up was mid 70s and sunny every day. The thunderstorms closed down the frontierland mountains a couple of times while we were there, so ride them early to be safe.

I didn't see a lot of lime green while there either minimate. But with 40,000 other people in the park it is pretty hard to spot :)

Blessings :)

Glad you had a great trip.! I had the same thing happen at AK last summer. Even though we stay onsite we drive to MGM, AK, and Epcot. The morning we went to AK we arrived 20 minutes early and the parking lot was not opened. We had never had this happen before. I was not happy because by the time you get to the park the line is LOONNGGG. Has anyone else had this happen this summer? I was thinking about driving to MGM on July 4th but if I can't get in the parking lot I'll take the bus.

Last summer we never waited more than 5-10 minutes on enight. This was a night it did not rain and we were able to ride multiple times on splash Mountain. The kids kept yelling again and off we went.
