(Sorry for the long thread)
First off let me say that I believe that the WDW Magic is alive and well. I think this was our best trip ever. We didn't see any truly shocking moments, or heard any CM's say anything outrageous, or even heard any funny comments (besides from my daughter, which I'll get to later), but we had a truly fantastic trip.
We stayed at VWL from Sunday, 12/11 to Wednesday 12/14. When we arrived around lunch time we got our DVC "Welcome Home" and were able to get into our room right away. Our room was shining when we came in and the kids immediately started running around and making it there own. 5 minutes later, they were ready to hit MK.
Our schedule was MK Sunday afternoon, Epcot for morning EMH to do Soarin', then MGM for their opening on Monday. Then Epcot Monday evening. Tuesday is MK all day ending with the Xmas party (break in btwn), and then finishing up with MK Wednesday morning before flight home. All of the parks had people in it, but we were able to walk on to every ride. Our longest wait may have been 10 minutes. Having been there in the summer, I consider 10 minutes a "walk-on"
The decorations were AWESOME! We really got into the holiday spirit with all of the decorations, music and clothes worn by the CMs.
All of the CMs were very nice and seemed to pour on the Disney magic while we were there (at least to us). And even all of the guests were on their best behavior.
Our magical moments:
After I don't know how many trips, I finally got to see PUSH the trash can. It is funny, I had never even heard of him, until I came to the DISboards. This was the first trip, since coming on the boards and voila, there he was. My DD got to interact with him and she kept looking inside, but couldn't figure it out. My DW and I saw the controller and just had a great smile on.
Our DS 15 months finally got to interact with the characters. The last time he was there was when he was 3 months. He has seen enough Mickey stuff around our home. So when we walked into the room and there he was
, my DS couldn't stop laughing and pointing and shaking his fists. It truly was so magical. My DW and I both had a tear in our eyes.
Another was getting to ride BTMR and SM with my DD4. She was a little nervous, but after each ride would shout, "Daddy, I liked that ride!" And we all got to go on Soarin' as well (well, at least DW, DD and I through baby swap).
And the most magical moment for us was when we sat for the 8:15 Xmas parade on Tues. We got to Liberty Square early and sat down. Along comes two young girls, and brunette and blond, (probably early 20s) and sits next to our DD. Immediately, our DD starts talking to them and them to her. They are being soooo sweet to her and asking her who her favorite princess was and all. When the parade starts it is immediately apparent that these girls worked at the park b/c they knew everyone in the parade and everyone knew them. Everytime a character would come over they would tell them about Linnea and Kai, our DD and DS, and the characters would give an extra shake or pat to our kids. When the parade was over, they told us if we were in the park tomorrow to head over to Toon Town to meet the princesses. The next morning, which was the day we were flying home, we make it to Toon Town and into the princess tent and low and behold, the blonde girl from the parade was Cinderella. She recognizes us immediately and waves over to our family. Luckily our DD didn't recongnize her, but Cindy starts asking her how she liked the parade and spends all of this xtra time with her. Then she writes on 3 pages of both our kids books and gives them xtra kisses on their cheeks and books. It was absolutely wonderful and our DD keeps talking about it. And we were so impressed how the girl seperated her character from herself and stayed in character when we saw her in Toon Town. Also, at the parade, when I asked if we should look out for anyone in particular, trying to hint, she still didn't give on. Just impressed my DW and I how professional she was, even out of costume.
Oh, and the funny comment was how our DD started talking to the girls in the first place. We had just finished riding BTMR before we sat down. When the girls arrive our DD leans over to them and yells, "I just got down riding the Polar Express!"
And finally our one and only shocking moment. And this really isn't a "shocking" moment rather than an IMPRESSIVE moment. We were in Toon Town (can you tell we spent a lot of time there) and this woman walks by us. She is directing her DS and her parents around where to go and what to see and walking with them, the whole time while she is breastfeeding her DD. My DW and I were like, "WOW, now that is a SUPERMOM!" We were soooo impressed. We wanted to go back and tell her how impressed we were, but figured in her situation, she had enough going on.
Anyway, thanks for taking the time to read this and again, the WDW magic is alive and well!
