Just got back from a wonderful Disney vacation!!
I wish we were still there!! My 2 1/2 year old dd cried most of the way home (2-hour drive) saying, "Go back, castle!"
We stayed 2 nights at Saratoga Springs and 2 nights at the Poly. Both resorts were wonderful in their own way!
The first 2 nights we were at Saratoga Springs in a studio. I had rented points from a Disboard member and everything worked out perfectly. Our room was ready when we checked in at 10:15am. We had requested a view of Downtown Disney and we received a 1st floor room in Congress Park, room 1501. We loved the 1st floor as we were able to walk out the sliding doors to the playground or for a little walk. The view was of the river and Downtown Disney and we couldn't have asked for a better room! Everything in the room was clean and I really liked having the larger refrigerator and the small sink in the "kitchen" area. We were steps away from the quiet pool, free laundry facilities, and playground (which my dd loved!). The main pool was awesome! The splash fountain with Donald was really neat, but my dd's favorite thing was the small kid's slide! Wow! It is the perfect size for a 2-3 year old(or a less adventurous 4-5 year old). The pool seemed plenty big to me and it didn't seem to be crowded either time we went. The main slide was fast! My dh and I went down and it felt like we were torpedoes!
It was so much fun though! I did see a lot of little kids going down the main slide with life vests/floaties on. The 2 hot tubs are very relaxing. The only downside is that the main pool was pretty far from our room, especially with a toddler and all of the pool "stuff" we tend to bring with us. We drove both times we went to the main pool. We walked to Downtown Disney for dinner at Earl of Sandwich, yummy!, and a little shopping one night. We did hear a lot of music one night from 10:30-12:15am. I think they had a live band outside this night, because it was lounder than than the night before. We definitely heard the fireworks at midnight from Pleasure Island. DH slept on the sleeper sofa and said it wasn't too comfortable. The sleeper sofas are different than the ones at BCV, which dh said weren't too uncomfortable. Dh still said he could have spent all 4 nights here! We did not go over to Artist's Palette, so I can't comment on the food or selection.
Then we went over to the Poly for the last 2 nights
. Our room was ready when we checked in at 9:30am. I had requested a room in Samoa facing the volcano pool. I received my request, but we had a 2nd floor room, so we did not have a balcony. Nothing else was available, so we stayed with our assigned room. We were in room 2607. We had a wonderful view of the valcono pool, Grand Floridian and part of the lagoon! Everything looked great in the room except for the carpet as it was pulled in many areas. DH was glad to have a regular bed
I remember staying at the Poly back in 1981 with my parents and I had been waiting for the day when I could return! The resort is beautiful! We ate at Ohana one night and then had a late dessert another night at Kona Cafe (the kilaeu torte is to die for!). We only used Captain Cooks for drinks. We requested a refrigerator at check -in and it was there 5 minutes after we arrived at our room! We took the boat to MK several times and it was so relaxing! We also watched Wishes and the Electrical Parade from the beach. What a wonderful way to spend an evening! Thursday night the beach was packed though and I heard many people after the fireworks talking about "going back to their resort." The music for Wishes was not piped into the pool area. There was one speaker by Hawaii that played the music, but you could only hear it if you were right next to the speaker. We loved the fast access to MK and the TTC, especially with a toddler. We did not have a chance to use the volcano pool, but it was packed! You could barely see an inch of water by the zero entry point during the day and the slide always had a very long line. The whole resort is so beautiful and peaceful. I looked forward to returing each day for a short nap before heading back to another park for the rest of the afternoon. I didn't want to leave
Our next trip to WDW is in August and we are planning 2 nights at AKL and 2 nights at WL, but now I want to switch WL to Poly! Dh says we should give the WL a try, as we have not stayed there yet....but I really loved the Poly!
This was our longest trip thus far. We live 2-hours away from WDW and usually visit every other month for 2 nights at a time, so this trip was extra magical
If you have any questions, please let me know
