Just :( back = Poly review :)

I do not know what you mean by CC override or the CC shutting down at night. How do you over ride? In that heat they wouldn' really shut down the CC would they? My DH would totally freak if they did.

I can confirm that this does happen in some rooms. Please read the above poster's solution to this, though. That should solve the problem.

The air conditioners aren't shut off by some central control. The rooms with newer thermostats can get warm though as the thermostats are motion sensitive. So if no one moves for a while, they shut off only to come on again as soon as there is motion in the room.

When you return to your room on a really hot day, it can be a little warm in the room. The good news is that the rooms cool down very quickly. :flower:

Welcome back. Sorry you had the issue with the smokers but looks like you got moved to a good location. Were you in the room facing Hawaii or facing Tahiti? That is not a lagoon view room category but it has a great shot at the lagoon and I bet you could see the fireworks at night.

Tokelau never got updated with the new air system but will when it closes and I believe Tokelau and Tahiti both have plumbing issues that need to be resolved when they work on them. It is strange about Tahiti’s smoking rooms because when I was there before all the rooms on the second floor on the east half were smoking on both sides of the hall. What floor were you on that you saw this?

The only other smoking rooms are closed with Niue and Tuvalu closed so it might be that they designated some additional rooms to be smoking and once Tuvalu (upper floor) and Niue open with the new rooms they will have all their smoking rooms back except Tahiti’s smoking rooms.

Aloha

Steve

We just got back from Tokelau and I was all set to have a AC problem, but our thermostat was adjustable (not a dial though). You just moved it to "set" and pushed the button up and down until you got the temperature you wanted. We set ours at 70 and it just turned on automatically day or night when the temperature got over 70. When we got back from the parks, room was nice and cold. Never had to touch it again!

Mky,

Thanks for the awesome review! You are making me even more excited for our upcoming January trip!!

Did I understand correctly that Tokelau has NOT been renovated? Does anyone know if/when Tokelau is expected to be renovated?

About the AC... I remember when some of us were concerned about the AC at POP. One wise Dis poster said she was going to buy a Mickey balloon and tie it to a chair near the fan (or sensor or whatever) to keep "motion" in the room while they were out at the parks. I thought that was pretty clever and got a good chuckle out of it too. ;)

Supposedly, a balloon won't work. At least according to a thread some time back now on one of the DVC boards.

So someone suggested tying a hamster to the balloon. :rotfl2:

Now, this was a total joke and I'm such a lover of "creatures" that I try to take any spiders, etc. outside when I find them, so please don't flame me. But it was funny.

Tikiman: Our 2nd room was facing Tahiti. Yes it is not quite as lovely as the opposite but we where very happy. we moved our chairs in the grass at nite and watched the fireworks right in our own "yard". ;) We only walked through Tahiti's 1st floor 1 day during rain, from the TTC, so it was on 1st floor on the lagoon view side mostly, and only walked the 1/2 from tokelau to the center door opening. You could see the non-smoking signs had been pulled off some doors. Also there where still doors with non-smoking on them just right next to them. We have had that same situtation in the CR before, so disney has done that in the past.

The AC > for the motion detector another issue is the the detector is in the little entrance hall by the bathroom, (across from the closet) NOT in the main room. :confused3 (this was Raroatonga) So to set off the "motion" and get it to kick on you have to through something toward the door ie: large pillow, mickey doll, etc...... in the middle of the nite for it to turn on if you do not want to get up. ;)

:sunny: We already miss the Poly too. Just booked for next august our 2 weeks at the poly with a 4 day Wonder cruise. pirate: So I already need a fix too. ::MickeyMo We have a long wait ahead of us. :earseek:
