Just back from POFQ if anyone has any questions...we had connecting rooms 2207 and 2208...we were in bldg two, second floor on the side away from the pool facing a beautifully landscaped area (overlooking a fountain). 2208 is a corner room..which wasn't really all that big deal..it was nice to have the extra light from the window but it 'overlooked' the stairs. Walk times:

to the pool....1 minute
to the food court/store.....3 minutes
to the parking lot.....3 minutes
to the bus stop.....4 to 5 minutes

I orig wanted a room facing the pool, but was very please with our room location because it was much quieter but was still near the pool (I am not kidding when I say it was a one minute walk to the pool!!). I think pool view rooms would still not be too noisy since they are not right on top of the pools..there are little streetsand lots of trees in between the pool and the bldgs. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and it was nice to come back to a pretty, quiet resort after the hustle of the crowded parks (although we won't stay here again cuz its just not 'disney' enough for us!). My kids did enjoy the street names...Rue de Baga was our fav street name!! The pool was awesome..lots of room for the crowds and hardly anyone was ever in the hot tub...i think most people don't even realize there is a hot tub! Its kinda hidden out of the way and we had to ask a cast member where it was!!

Weather was PERFECT!!!! mid 80s, not humid and not a drop of rain our whole 2 week Florida trip!! It was more crowded than our week before memorial day weekend last year but manageable..we used EMH and fastpasses and never waited more than 25 minutes for any ride, even the big ones. Although, as stated b4, the POFQ is beautiful, next trip we will go after something more 'pixie dusty' ...but this is a truly beautiful resort,,,,quiet, laid back and very pretty!! By the way....don't worry to those who can't say beignets!! We had the bakery cms at the resort arguing (jokingly of course!) over how to say it!! All the CMS were wonderful...housekeeping....eh, left something to be desired....no towel animals and I asked for toothbrushes and got extra towels (and i left a $5 tip every day!!) and eveyrthing wasn't 'clean, clean'. I'll be doing a trip report soon but just wanted to see if I could answer any questions

Glad to hear you had a nice time! Did you use the buses and if so, how were they?

Im looking forward seeing this resort on our mini vacation in 2 weeks, since we have it booked for september. How were the buses and how was the food at the resort? Also was there a lounge to relax and have cocktails at?

HOW LONG DID IT TAKE TO GET TO MK AND EPCOT?

DID YOU DO THE RIVER RIDE TO GET TO DOWNTOWN DISNEY??

HARRY

I had read in previous posts building 2 is a smoking building. Is this true. There seems to be some confusion on what buildings are now smoking. I know for sure when we stayed there in 2002 only the top floor af 2 was smoking.
Thanks! It sounds like the same POFQ!!! We will be there in two months:bounce:

Since you sampled the beignets.....you must have tried out the food court at bfast. Did you notice Mickey waffles? We're staying at POR and trying to decide if we want to go to POFQ for bfast.

Thanks!

"although we won't stay here again cuz its just not 'disney' enough for us"

We are staying at POFQ in June. I have been reading all the reviews and posts for this resort. Where would you stay that had more of a Disney atmosphere? POFQ sounds like a wonderful resort, but you stay on site for the Disney magic.

Thank you for your review of POFQ- I just booked us there for four nights in October and can't wait! While my previous visits to WDW have been at Deluxe resorts (CR 2x's and WL once) I really think I am going to fall in love with POFQ- I love New Orleans Square at DL and this resort, from what I have read and seen on the internet) seems to capture that Disney essence of New Orleans.

Please share this if you know- where does the Downtown Disney boat drop you off at? Near the Marketplace (Rainforest cafe, World of Disney, etc) or near the West Side/Pleasure Island? Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The bus system is very efficient, we never waited more than 10 minutes for a bus. The only thing that irritated me is that it stopped at the POR bus stops, which adds at least 10 minutes to the trip!! The times the buses were full at POFQ and didn't make those stops were such a relief!! Epcot was the quickest...without the POR stops it was less than 10 mins. MK was furthest..about 12-15 minutes without POR stops. I really think that POR should have their own stops! Other than that we were very pleased with the system.

I didn't use the boat to DTD but my step-mom and sis did and I will ask them and post about the time and where they were dropped off as soon as I get ahold of them (a few days). I do remember them saying it was a very nice ride, tho.

There is a lounge called the Skat Cat Club. We didn't use it so I couldn't tell you the prices. It is adjacent to the pool and has an open/outdoor section.

We were in non-smoking rooms, second floor bldg 2. I'm not sure about the other floors. My step-mom smokes and she just stepped out on the balcony to have her cigs

The food court food dinners were excellent! They had a choice of pot roast, chicken, ribs or jambalaya on top of the normal burgers, subs and wraps. The jambalaya was great as was the pot roast! Well worth the $10 a pop. They came with cornbread, and a few side choices like corn, potatoes, greens, rice. I think this was the best 'meal deal' at disney being that the food was 'down home cookin' at a decent price! Make sure you get beignets or cookies for dessert..both are delicious! We asked (and were given) hot fudge sauce to drizzle over our beignets!! And we also used the available honey packets to dip them in! MMMMMMM!!!! Unfortunately we never ate breakfast at the food court so I never noticed whether they had mickey waffle irons or not..but beignets are available all day and night!!

As usual, Disney did a wonderful job of theming this resort. I really liked the laid back feel of this resort...just strolling down the beautifully landscaped streets and I think the many trees and bushes help cut down on noise levels. The brick streets and streetlamps/street signs add to the atmosphere. The horsehead posts and all the brass fixtures are a nice touch as was the fountain that our room overlooked. If I were NOT at Disney then I would stay here again and again!! Esp if I were honeymooning or on a romantic getaway with hubby!! As for a more Disney resort, I'm not sure...I've only stayed here and AS sports...AS are def more dis....I am going to post very soon asking which resort people think is the most disney!

I will get back to you all about the boat to DTD

EEEK! Blasphemy to put anything but powdered sugar on your beignets! ;)
We'll be there in four weeks, seven of us from the New Orleans area. We'll be sure to teach the CMs the proper pronunciation of "beignets." In case you are wondering, BIN-yaes.
Your review has me more excited than ever.
How were the newly refurbed rooms?
