Lets see on Friday we ate at Pop Food Court, it was okay basic food court food.....

Saturday night was Whispering Canyon. Two of us had the skillet, one ordered Pork Chops and the other Steak. It was all very good. We also had an anniversary cake delivered. It was beyond mouth watering. We ordered it with yellow cake, chocolate mousse filling and buttercream icing. It was WONDERFUL!!!!! Melt in your mouth.

Sunday we tried Mama Melrose. It was Horrible!!!! Our waitress was non existant. We didn't get bread and never got refills. The food was horrible too. Three in our party got steaks and they were burned when ordered medium. Nasty! I ordered eggplant and got three teeny tiny fried pieces of eggplant and there wasn't even a teaspoon full of salt on my spaghetti. We won't be back.

Monday was the best meal all week. California Grill! We had a table seat overlooking the castle. The food was spectacular. DH and I both had Sushi, mine was the spicy and it was the best food I had all week. It was beyond wonderful! DH had regular sushi but agreed that mine with the spicy sauce was better. Our 14 year old had the four cheese flatbread and ate every single bite! For dinner DH, my mom and our son had steaks. They all said they were melt in your mouth. I had the Grouper which was good but nothing compared to the sushi. I would have rather had more sushi....LOL!. The desserts were lemon pudding cake and hot molten chocolate cake. All were excellent and our server was superb. He kept everything full and even taught our 14 year old how to use chopsticks. He earned an extra $10 tip!

Tuesday was Coral Reef. Another excellent dinner. My mom and our DS had steak which was good, DH and I both had fish dishes that were excellent. We were sat right by the aquarium. It didn't live up to California Grill but we will be back. It was very good. The desserts were good as well.

Wednesday was Concourse. We again had a spectacular server named Michelle. She played Disney Trivia with our son the entire time. We left an extra tip for her as well. Food was very good and plentiful. Desserts were yummy especially the Key Lime Pie. We will be back!

Thursday was Le Cellier. Wonderful as usual. The Filets were melt in your mouth and the only problem with the Cheese Soup was the size of the bowl....LOL! Yummy! DS ordered a Milkshake which was included on the Dining Plan. I had my first cream brulee which was very good but we were rushing to ride Soarin before it closed (wait times topped 2 hours during the day) so we didn't get to enjoy the desserts.

Friday was Kona. Very good. My mother said the steak had a better taste than California Grill (the Teppanyaki Steak) but it wasn't as tender. Very good meal, no complaints. DH had the Prime Rib which was yummy! I had the shrimp and Scallops, the shrimp were Huge! Desserts were good here too!

Overall the only complaint we had all week was Mama Melrose. The best counter service was probably a tie between Flame Tree BBQ and the Pannini at Pinocchio's The Cannoli at Pinocchios was yummy too!

Oh and we went to Beaches and Cream and paid out of pocket. The No Way Jose was out of this world yummy!

We were considering Mama Melrose for Fantasmic - maybe not anymore. Can't decide if we should do that or not...

Anyway, love the reviews!

Thanks for sharing! Always glad to see good reviews for Kona and Le Cellier. We will be trying those two for the first time this May. :)

Thanks for sharing.

How did you order the anniversary cake??? What were your options?

There is a special number you call to order the cakes. Just call Disney Dining and tell them where you will be eating and they will give you the correct number to call. They have a 6" cake that is standard for $12 I believe. The one we ordered was custom and PLENTY for 5 people.

I believe the choices were,

Cake could be,

Yellow
White
Chocolate
Marble

Filling could be

Chocolate Mousse
Raspberry maybe
and something else, vanilla???? I don't remember

Then the frosting could be

Chocolate Ganache
Whipped Cream
or Buttercream

It was so yummy!

Thanks for the info.
ITA with the Mama Melrose review. It was HORRIBLE when we went, but the service was good. Never return. I would eat at Tony's before I ate @ MM again.

Thanks for the reminder on ordering special ocassion cakes! We are celebrating my sister-in-laws birthday on our first night and I need to call and order the cake!

Enjoyed reading your reviews ~ Thanx for posting.

Thank you for sharing. I have to agree about Mama Melrose. When we went the food was horrible too and the service was lousy.
When we go in August we have quite a few of your choices on our list. Cant wait.

Glad to hear you had a great time.

I said it many times Disney's MGM for some reason has the worst food. I avoid all counter serve foods it all Yucky stuff. I eaten at all the sit down restaurants, except The Brown Derby. There all over priced mediocre to poor quality food. Plus the service is sometimes very poor.

Thanx for the reviews!

Mamu, I agree. What is it with MGM & food? We've tried to fiind something good to eat there, it just hasn't happened yet. I hesitate to try Brown Derby because of MGM's track record so far. I don't want to pay BD prices for the type of food we've had so far in MGM....

I would like to publicaly thank the OP for making me crave Yellow Cake with Chocolate Mousse filling and Buttercream icing. I should never have opened this darn thread! ;)

Thanks for the reviews, you hit some of our most favorite places. I was curious about the Coral Reef we plan to try it this summer. The reviews are so "it was great" or "the worst meal of the trip". So its nice to hear a good one. I haven't eaten there since I was a teenager and was looking forward to giving it a try.

:lmao: tell me about it!!! :teeth:

Anyway, thatnks so much for the reviews. Alot of those are the places we are going to eat and you have put my mind at ease!! Great review!! :thumbsup2

Two questions -

1) Can I order a cake from there to be delivered to my room?

2) Would a child (almost 2) be welcome at Coral Reef, you think? I mean, I know it's WDW after all, but my kid would be SOO tickeled at the "Fishies" he might squeal a lot during the meal..

WDYT?

Great reviews, BTW!!
