Just back! Here's my 'Ohana review. Kona, Sci-Fi, Le Cellier, Nine Dragons, Hollywood and Vine, and more to follow.

This was the surprise of the trip. After the mixed reviews we had read, we didn't expect it to be this good! After a check in at the station and a drink in the bar we were seated before our actual time which was a nice surprise considering all the people hanging around the waitiing area. We gave our drink order and then the food started coming out. First a fresh, light salad with a tangy vinagrette dressing, very good! Some crispy won-tons with a couple of dipping sauces was a nice change from bread. Then chicken wings with a spicy - sweet glaze and some peel and eat shrimp in a wonderfully mild sauce, both very good!

Our servers tag teamed us and while one was bringing us food the other was clearing plates and refilling glasses. The meats started coming out - first a sausage of some kind, flavorful but not fatty or greasy like most sausages. Next some juicy steak that had a faint hint of citrus, then turkey that was still very moist, and some nicely charred and smoky pork loin. The thin-sliced, scalloped potatoes were amazing - we killed two whole casserole dishes of them.

We stuffed ourselves and although I didn't think we could eat anymore, out came the bread pudding! We devoured it like ravenous dogs. It was really kind of embarrassing, so if you were anywhere near us last Wednesday night I apologize!

Food - 8
Service - 9

I'm glad you liked it! We have ADRs for 'Ohana in July, so I'm looking forward to trying it out too.

Sounds great!

I haven't been able to get an ADR there for this trip so will have to save it for the next one. :)

We really enjoyed it in January as well. I can understand how a menu change can upset people who loved the old menu. IMO, it is still a good choice especially if you've never been there before and have no preconceived ideas of what the food should be like.

We went there for the first time in April. It was our favorite meal of the trip!! I didn't expect to enjoy the bread pudding, but it was awesome!!!!

Thanks for your review! I was nervous after reading other posts as well. Looking forward to your reviews of the other restaurants you mention. We have ADRs for many of the same places you ate - we must have similar tastes. We leave in 1 week for our 9-day trip! :hourglass

Glad you liked it....this is one of our favorite places to eat everytime we go to WDW!

Thanks so much for your review!! I'm so excited to eat there in September.

Just a question, though- My husband and I don't eat salad or shrimp (allergic). Should I tell our waiter this before hand?? I don't want them to waste food if we aren't going to eat it at all. With shrimp, I can be around it, I just can't eat it- it's not like it can't be brought to our table, I just don't want to be wasteful.

Thanks for the review!! Glad you enjoyed it!! We are trying it for dinner for the first time in July!

Thanks! Made my ADR this morning. We'll be eating there on arrival night (8:10pm). Can't wait to try it out!

Thanks for the review! You echo our sentiments exactly! We're taking my family this summer when we visit WDW. That will be one big chow down!

Enjoyed reading your review ~ Thanx for sharing.

Thanks for the review of 'Ohana. I've recently added that ADR on for our trip in a few weeks based on all the good things I've read about it here. I'm looking forward to it!! and the rest of your reviews! :thumbsup2

Great review! Now I'm super confused...'Ohana or Kona...'Ohana or Kona?

Hi!
I think you should just tell the waiter before they bring the salad and shrimp out. It shouldn't be a problem. They bring this out before the meat is brought to the table, at least they did when we were there. O'hanas was one of the best dinners that we had when we were there last October. Going again in August. Enjoy!!!

Is bread pudding one of the specialties? other dessert offerings?????? Our res is for sept

Great review! We will be trying it in Sept. All the food sounds great for DHubby and I, but I do worry about our picky DD's (5&7).
