Just back! Here's my 'Ohana review. Kona, Sci-Fi, Le Cellier, Nine Dragons, Hollywood and Vine, and more to follow.
This was the surprise of the trip. After the mixed reviews we had read, we didn't expect it to be this good! After a check in at the station and a drink in the bar we were seated before our actual time which was a nice surprise considering all the people hanging around the waitiing area. We gave our drink order and then the food started coming out. First a fresh, light salad with a tangy vinagrette dressing, very good! Some crispy won-tons with a couple of dipping sauces was a nice change from bread. Then chicken wings with a spicy - sweet glaze and some peel and eat shrimp in a wonderfully mild sauce, both very good!
Our servers tag teamed us and while one was bringing us food the other was clearing plates and refilling glasses. The meats started coming out - first a sausage of some kind, flavorful but not fatty or greasy like most sausages. Next some juicy steak that had a faint hint of citrus, then turkey that was still very moist, and some nicely charred and smoky pork loin. The thin-sliced, scalloped potatoes were amazing - we killed two whole casserole dishes of them.
We stuffed ourselves and although I didn't think we could eat anymore, out came the bread pudding! We devoured it like ravenous dogs. It was really kind of embarrassing, so if you were anywhere near us last Wednesday night I apologize!
