We had a great trip despite all the recent tragic events in Orlando. It was me, DH and DD12. We stayed for 7 nights at the BC. Friends joined us about mid-way through our trip. My DD12 was upset that the BC beach was closed the entire trip, but certainly understood the reasoning. New signs went up along with new fencing at the water's edge. There was a CM posted at the beach every day and evening making sure no one actually went on the beach. I think it opened the day we left.

1. Parks. Crowds were very manageable. One day at HS, my DD and DH walked on TSM just after opening. We did have several issues with rides being down. SDMT at rope drop was closed 2 of our MK days. That was a real pain bc we had plans to go straight there. Also, Soarin broke down mid-ride. We were on row 1 too! They turned on the lights so you could really see how high up you were. Took them several minutes to get us down. We thought they would have everyone leave to do a test run on that theater, but no! Once all sections were down they ran it again. We got off (along with another family)and were given a FP to ride again. We did so immediately but my DD was pretty freaked out by it all. We requested another theater and of course all was find. Just had never had that happen before! LOVED the new ride though! We all agreed that we like this one better than original. Seemed a bit shorter to me though. Frozen was also down several times during our trip but we did manage to ride it once. It was good, not great in my opinion. End scene wasn't working so that didn't help any. Just seemed very quick to me. LOVED the new Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular. It was absolutely fantastic!!! We were right up front almost as close as you could get to the stage area they have now added. Great view. I waited about an hour for that spot but some teenagers came up beside us right after Fantasmic so you can still get a good seat right up to show time. I don't think people realized you could go up that far? Moving the dessert party area will also help add more viewing spots. Met Kylo Ren. Very little wait. Pretty intimidating! The girl that met him in front of us left crying! Tip- don't try to hug him! Met Chewbacca- great interaction there! Met Baymax with little wait and Joy/Sadness with long wait! That line moves SO SLOW!!

2. Food. Definitely removing a few places from our list after this trip. First is the Plaza. It just wasn't as good this time for the $. They changed the fries and our portion was very small. Looked like a kids meal. Love this place so this makes me sad, but we all agreed. Second is Mama Melrose's. For years every other restaurant on property has allowed my DD to order a kid's meal. We pay OOP, not dining plan. The waitress argued with me stating that they don't allow that and she would HAVE TO order off the adult menu. I asked her if that was just their policy and she said "no, it's that way everywhere". I was pretty insistent that we had been allowed to do that everywhere else for years. She finally asked her manager and allowed her to order a kids entree but we paid for her drink which was no real big deal. Shoot, my DH ordered a kids meal at Sci-fi without any problems and I even do it too. We had great meals and service at Cape May, Be Our Guest (lunch), Via Napoli, and Beaches and Cream. Sci-fi was okay but service was SLOW!!! Did notice a price increase at the quick service locations. Overall food quality seemed lower but higher prices.

3. Transportation. No problem with buses at Beach Club this trip. In the past we have had to walk over to YC to get on a MK bus bc they were all full when they would get to us at BC. Not this trip. No problems at all and didn't wait long for any bus really. The new time board is very helpful. We did have our bus break down on the way back from MK on a very hot day! We had to stay on the bus until another one arrived. That was awful!! I was almost in full panic mode. It took much longer to transfer to a new bus than I thought it should have. Had to transfer to new bus on the side of the busy highway.

4. Weather. Best we've had in June. We go almost every year in June and this year was great! We had a few days with lower humidity and a nice breeze. Very little rain.

If you have any questions, please ask away. Already excited for next trip in November!!!

Thanks for the report. Your story about ordering at Mama Melrose is consistent with what I have been noticing recently. (Not on this specific issue about ordering off the kid's menu, but more generally). Disney used to be about the best company in the business when it came to "getting to "yes"". They are still pretty good about it. But they no longer stand out in that regard the way they used to.

I find it beyond ridiculous that they would give even an adult (let alone a child) paying OOP a hard time for ordering a kid's meal and then turn around and allow 20 people to split a cupcake at BOG for breakfast. I also agree regarding the lower food quality-it is becoming very obvious. We have gone once a year for the past 16 and the decline has been particularly apparent the last four years. Glad to hear about the new time board at BC-we missed it by a few weeks in March and are looking forward to utilizing it next February. We almost always stay at BC and there have been many times we thought of something we left in our rooms and either just missed the bus by running back up or went without. It will come in very handy! TFS!

I can't believe they didn't want to let a 12 year old child order from the children's menu! I would throw a fuss too, raising it to a manager as well. I mean, come on. Common sense should prevail here. That is a straight up money grab from both Disney and perhaps even the server.

I've always felt it a little odd that Disney cuts off the "child" age at such a low age of 9, but that's a whole 'nother topic...

Great quick report! We went the first full week of June and it seems like, this year at least, weather and crowd-wise, mid-June was better than early June. I wonder if that's the norm as this was our first trip in early June. We are planning to go back same time next year and wondering if I should push it a week.....

We just got back also!! I found the crowds at MK pretty big, but the other parks were not as bad. Weather was amazing, except for Sunday, where we had downpours at Epcot. When we park hopped to MK later on, they said they only had a little bit of rain. The weather is so weird there!
