After a long drive home, we returned from our long weekend visit (Nov 7-11). I'll post a longer trip report later, but just wanted to say that we had a great time!

We met Nancy (YellowMickeyPonchos) and her family! It was great meeting you.

The crowds weren't bad. Saturday was the lightest (holiday taping maybe?), Sunday was the most crowded (Bat's Day, but we started out in DCA which was lighter), and Monday was moderate.

Combining Hydroguy's tips (thanks!), all the tips here (thanks!), and my own park strategies, I'd have to say that even with moderate to heavy crowds, I worked the fastpass system and other strategies so we didn't have to stand in very long lines. I can think of only 2 lines where we waited over 20 minutes: Roger Rabbit (35 minutes) and Haunted Mansion (50 minutes). But both were last minute spur-of-the-moment decisions.

Our room at the DLH was in the Wonder Tower facing... the parking lot! Oh well, for the price we paid and for the amount of time we actually spent in the room, it was just fine. It was clean, comfortable, and housekeeping/turn down service was great.

Only a few dissapointments. One was the food. We ate mostly at counter service and it was okay. Another was a fairly decent family meltdown having to do with ice cream and the Matterhorn (and me becoming one of those parents who yells at their kids at Disneyland). I'm not proud and I apologized and it was resolved with everybody happy. :sad2:

I'll get into more with a longer trip report and pics (Yes, there are Jonas Brothers and Jose Feliciano pics too) later.

I figured with all the fast pass collecting and other walking, I logged in over 10 miles per day. Allowed me to eat more pumpkin muffins and giant cookies.

Thanks, fellow South Bayer, for reporting. Can't wait to see a longer report soon! Counting down the days until we go (Nov. 22-25) :santa:

We are a little farther north of you (in SF), but we have never driven before. We will be returning the monday after Thanksgiving... any strategy? I'm trying to figure out what time we should leave DLR to minimize the pain. We have a late night Sunday so I think leaving super early (like we will on the way down) is pretty much out. Thoughts?

Thanks! Sounds like you had a good time - I'll look for the TR! :)

Hi,

We actually didn't leave until 1pm yesterday (Tuesday) afternoon. We had breakfast at Lilo & Stitch, then walked around downtown Disney before driving up north. The traffic wasn't too bad on the 5, but it was also a holiday for some. We made it home by 7pm in Campbell.

Glad you had a great time! And that you made it back home safely! Sorry about the food being a disappointment...can't wait for that TR! :)

Thanks! I think we will just plan to leave after lunch and hope for the best! I am hoping that Monday will be better than Sunday... well, then there is work traffic. Oh well. It all sucks. :)

We had the best time seeing you! Loads of fun. You have a lovely family!

That was a good Saturday to be in the parks. I posted my tips for watching the parade taping up onto the Podcast Board (since WDW hasn't filmed their half yet) and Kevin mentioned one of them on the DIS Unplugged podcast last week! :woohoo:
