Just back... LOVED Magicbands... FP+ nearly perfect!

I agree. I don't think the overall number being distributed has been lessened so the theory that the standby lines will be shorter probably won't hold water. I used to think this myself.

But let's just say you have 1000 FPs being distributed (just throwing out a number as an example) in a day at one ride. Now, instead of 500 people grabbing 2 each you now have those same 500 people limited to only 1 each for that one ride. So you have 500 now being used by that group of people and 500 "leftover" for other people to use. They're still going to issue those 500 out to be used by someone. So the ratio of FP to standby shouldn't change much.

Unless I'm missing something.

I think the orphaned fp+ will be less common then an orphaned fp-.

By orphaned, I mean the chances someone actually gets a fp and abandons it is going to go down.

the old system, people would decide they don't want to walk clear over to the other side of the park. Some try to give away tickets they pull, but not everyone would. Now if they decide to change, they go to a kiosk and select a different ride closer to their current position. This releases the one they had, so someone else grabs it.

So this is how the same # of fp tickets can increase the stand by time.

True that is one way. I just can't wait to see this whole thing play out over the next few months. :)

It isn't just what's leftover from pre booking. They are definitely releasing some the morning of.

Whether they are or aren't, there are still fewer FP slots the morning of than there were before. And they are going far faster since people are getting them in groups of 3.

Here's the problem with your general statement "FP+ nearly perfect". Lines were short because you were there off off peak. Low attendance plays into FP+ limitations. The stark reality of FP+ is seen during peak times. How would your experience have changed during the middle of the summer, Pop Warner or Christmas? I think it's great you had an awesome time, but the only reason FP+ worked was due to when you went and not FP+ itself.

That's exactly what so many people can't seem to understand.

I was there in September for 8 days (had MB because we were at CR) and got to use both FP+ and old FP.

Trying to change a FP+ "on the fly" was completely dependent on crowd levels for the day.

Busy day/times and you were completely hosed.

We we there for about as off peak as you could get AND it was still in trials. Most rides were near walk ons for most of our days.

On the busy days? Good luck.

My friend just got back last week. His first two days he texted me "This FP+ is awesome! I love, so much better".

For his last 3 days (say hello to MLK weekend) he hated it. Said it was the worst thing ever and he wished they could go back to regular FP's.

Next trip is a week in DL. Hopefully they get their act together before we head back to WDW.

Well do we know this for sure? Do we have exact numbers on what they are allowing for prebooking vs what's leftover and then released the morning of? Not being snarky totally wondering.

I haven't heard anyone complain yet that they couldn't get a FP+ slot the day of. Or have I missed that? I've been sick for the last week. Lol. Now of course depending on the time of day and the ride in question, whether it's a convenient slot would be the next problem.

I learned a while ago to take with a large grain of salt what people complain about on this board.

someone had the audacity to claim the new system makes it impossible to ride both TT and Soarin in the same day when the crowds are high. It didn't take long to see it is pretty much the same people complaining day in and day out, and often times their complaints are complete nonsense.

Well no it's not impossible to do. Certainly less enjoyable than before but not impossible.

I can't say as I understand that. I was at Magic Kingdom on MLK day. I realize this is not highly recommended, but it was my birthday and that's what I wanted to do.

I rode the following rides that day: Space Mountain, Peoplemover, Carousel of Progress, Little Mermaid, Winnie the Pooh, Prince Charming Carousel, Peter Pan, small world, Haunted Mansion, Big Thunder Mountain, Pirates, and Jungle Cruise (I think I remembered them all...). I didn't wait more than 15 minutes for anything. I had FP+ for Space Mountain, small world, and Peter Pan. Oh, and I fit in lunch at Columbia Harbour House, a dole whip, dinner at 'Ohana, MSEP, and Wishes that day as well.

I dunno, maybe the actual holiday isn't as crowded as the Saturday and Sunday before it.

The ones I feel for right now are the offsite guests competing at rope drop for whatever top draw FPs happen to be left over from pre-booking. There's no such thing as a sure thing any more.

Offsite people are now seeing notices on their MDE page that they can sign up for FP+ 60 days out. :cool1:

Then everything must be perfect now. So glad to hear! :thumbsup2

I would say it is equally as enjoyable- if you get there at rd you can ride both with no line same as before.

[nonsense]But that group is getting more members by the day. I would say that is Disney's fault.[/nonsense]

I would say both groups are getting more members by the day- as more people use it more people will like and/or dislike it.

I agree. I would be curious to know how many flipped positions after experiencing it?

Yeah that would be interesting to see- I can say that being here now I've talked to quite a few first time families that just love their mbs and fpps.

If I am staying offsite then how does Disney know when my 60 day window begins?:confused3

It's like watching a kid that never was taught to share that he has to share from now on. tantrums erupt. kids scream that they will take their ball and go home. lather, rinse, and repeat every single day on this board.
Perfectly said! That sums it up exactly. We just got back yesterday and we love FP+. We took our 3 year old granddaughter down and we took breaks every day. One day after her nap we went down to the pool at the Contemporary instead of heading right back to MK. It was a piece of cake to get on my iPhone and cancel my existing Fps at MK and move them back an hour or two. Once they allow FP at more than one park (and they will, to keep the PH up charge per ticket), it'll be perfect... for us, anyway

I just don't get the obsession with riding the same rides over and over. Disney is more than the rides. There's so much more that you could do instead of riding Space Mountain 6X in a row... To be honest, I'm pretty sure most of us live near a Six Flags, Bush Gardens, etc. that have better thrill rides than Disney if that's what you crave.

If you dislike the system, then go somewhere else. It's a big world with lots to see... FastPass isn't going away any time soon. I, for one, am glad it's here to level the playing field. It's nice to walk into DHS at 11 AM knowing I'll be able to ride Toy Story without a 2 hour wait!

Jim

They know what day is 60 days from today, you wouldn't be able to book 61 days from today I assume.

:confused3 Does this mean that everyone can book fp+ 60 days out now - whether or not you have reservations?
