We just got back last night from our week's stay at Ft.W cabins. We had the best family vacation ever! Thanks you for all the help from these boards. I learned alot here and it was very helpful!

We checked in at 1:00 and was given our room passes/park hoppers and told to call at 3:00 for cabin assignment. We went to lunch and shopped at Publix for week's groceries. We bought spray/fan waterbottles for $8.99 there(vs. $17.99 at parks) and lots of bottled water.

We stayed in 2400 loop, cabin 2446 - it was perfect, close to transportation and laundry. Although we did not see any towel animals the "mousekeeping" was excellent. Lots of clean towels daily, she would arrange the kids stuffed animals, run the dishwasher and straighten up our shoe pile. Of course tipping $5/day helps.LOL!

We took bus/boat to MK and drove our own van to other areas. It worked out great. We did the campfire - had a great time. We ate at Trail's End once for dinner, just a short wait for a table for 7. The food was excellent. We ate there for breakfast later in the week - it was awesome. The kids really enjoyed the breakfast - Mickey waffles and the huge donut bar. One drizzly night we watched the MK fireworks from the beach - really nice.

Ironically we did not swim at any of the resort pools. We just ran out of time.

DH and baby staying in cabin on the rainy nights. DH loved the cabin and wants to stay there again.

Any questions? ask away....

Glad you had a great time. We got hooked on FW about 20 yrs ago with a cabin stay of a week. Once it gets in your blood you have to return again and again. So here's my question.. When are you going back?
We go back to FW in 10 days:D

So glad to hear you discovered and loved FW.We are headed down in a few short days.I agree the cabins and FW get in your blood. What we have done is stay there for our long trip. Then try out others for the mini winter trip. But FW is always "home"and our favorite.

Goodness, I feel so silly---been planning for quite a while now and it would've never occurred to me to watch the MK fireworks from the beach there! Won't have to worry about the mass exodus from the parks; what a great idea :)

Glad you enjoyed your cabin stay; can't wait
can't wait
can't wait!

I'm leaving in a week. So how are the crowds?? Did you do EE mornings?? If so did you take the boat to Mk on the EE mornings?? What do you wish you'd had more time to do? I am getting super excited. It's funny, I have been to Disney probably 15 times, and even went three times in 2001 for a total of 30 days in three trips, but I always freak out right before we go. It's like I am so afraid to miss something, or that I'll never get to go back. And this trip I know I'm going back in Jan for 14 nights, but still I worry...Anyone else like this??

Camping Griswalds,

We did not do any EE morning. We did take the bus to settlement and boat to MK. It was always easy getting there, with little if any wait. We drove our own van to all the other parks.

MK was the busiest. Epcot the least busy. MGM was pretty crowded too. We did AK on Sunday and surprisingly it was not too crowded.

We did not do half the things I planned. We missed Fantamic, Illuminations and all the parades. I asked the kids (ages 9-1) what was important to them, and then I made sure we did those things. We tried twice to see Spectromagic but it was cancelled due to lightning.

I am looking forward to going back again, when? The FTP made it affordable for our gang to go for a whole week. Without that I don't think we could have done it.

It definitely is the most magical place on earth.

Glad you enjoyed yourself. We always have the same problems (not seeing everything I had planned) All the times we went in 2001, we only saw Fantasmic once in Jan. Even though it was one of our favorite things, we did not go in our Aug trip or Nov trip that year. Mostly because we do EE mornings until about 1200, then head back for the camper for lunch, nap and pool. It seems that 99% of the time when we wake up from our nap, we start planning dinner and then it just seems to be too much effort to go into the parks to then wait to see Illuminations or Fantasmic or the MK parade. We have seen each one time. When we were there last however, Spectromagic was not the parade in MK. So we'll probably make an effort to see that.

I know a lot of people are like you and took advantage of the FTP. Once you go for a week , those three or four day visits seem impossible. We are fortunate that we have a camper or we could not afford to visit as often, or stay as long as we do. I'm to the pint now where I only like when we visit for 10 days or longer. Other than that, we have no "off" days, and I feel like I need a vacation when we get home. Good luck planning a next vacation. These boards really post a lot of good deals. Keep looking.

So glad you had such a great time! We'll be staying in a cabin for the first time next summer and I'm so excited!:Pinkbounc
