We just left the Magic Kingdom last night...our flight home is tomorrow morning, but we are staying with my parents for one last night in the Orlando area. We had a pretty good time, but all I can say is NEVER AGAIN will I stay at Pop Century. It was crowded as all get-out, which is understandable, but the bus system was HORRIBLE. We routinely waited an hour outside the parks to get home at night. Hundreds of people standing in line and buses coming only every half hour to 45 minutes AT PARK CLOSING. Last night we were on the 4th bus and there were hundreds still behind us...took an hour and a half to get back to Pop and I had a sleeping baby who had just come down with a sudden fever (102.7, we learned when we got home!).
Totally insane and we were NOT happy. No, I don't expect luxury accommodations or amenities for a value price, but that was not the "every 20 minutes" service we were quoted. Not even close! The All-Star resorts are just as "cheap" but their bus shelters never even approached the ridiculous lines we had. They might have 75 people and we'd have 200 and they'd get 2 buses before we got even one. @@
Other than the issues with the bus system, everything was pretty nice. We got a good room and were generally happy with everything else. Parks were somewhat crowded on certain days and nearly deserted on others. Lots of walk-ons and 5 or 10 minute waits, YAY! Chaos at MK on MVMCP nights...no organization whatsoever to clearing the parks of day guests and letting in the ticket holders for the event. We even had a CM admit that there had been no really detailed plan for getting people out/in (this was on the first night) but that they would work on it during the week. Things were a little better Friday.
We are planning to return for MNSSHP in October and we'll stay somewhere other than Pop and build in some "off" (non-park) days so we can enjoy our resort and get some more rest. Look for my trip report this week on the TR board!
