I just thought I'd post our experience with avoiding the EMH days for those of you contemplating doing the same. We did MK between the two EMH days of Wednesday and Friday and were quite happy with the results. Compared to the same time last year, the park was much emptier :cool1: . It was on par with our November trip. We also did MGM between the two EMH days. Sunday was EMH evening, which made the park especially empty on Monday compared to last June. Epcot we did on Friday and again on Tuesday. Both days were quiet, but Tuesday was especially so. We walked on most everything except Soarin'. We didn't do AK this trip. Typhoon Lagoon wasn't busy at all on Sunday. We walked on Crush 'n Gusher twice in a row. I've never been there before so I have no comparison for that park. DQ on Saturday afternoon was pretty busy, but Saturday night was very quiet. That was my first time there also and I was pleasantly surprised :goodvibes .

I hope this info helps someone :) !

Yes, indeed - I was *just* wondering about not using EMH (atleast morning EMH) and was going to post about it! My husband told me tonight (after the deposits and flights have been paid for) that he doens't have ANY interest in getting up early and 'rushing around' on vacation. I figure that means either I recruit an early riser in our group (my dad, maybe?) to take the girls in early, or I just resign myself to longer line ups at regular entry times. (He's not even interested in rope drop for regular/non-EMH days!).

He did suggest I could get up at the crack of dawn (his words!) and go into the parks solo for a while. I think I might just put sleepy girls in the strollers and escape! His only experience with Disney crowds is DL on a weekday in November, so I don't think he really understands how many people are likely to be around in early Oct when MNSSHP and Food&Wine are going on.... :-)

Thanks Neighbor! I was a bit concerned about this. Last year in July I went to the late night opening in MK (and paid for it) and it was atrocius. SOOOOOOOOOOOOO crowded.

Now I'm even more confused. After completely changing my days so that I was just doing morning EMH, now people are saying avoid them. Last week people were saying not to avoid them! :confused3 UGH!!! OK, I have about 17 more days to get this straight. :)

I agree with you MagicalMom! I'm not sure if we're supposed to avoid EMH mornings, evenings, or both!! :sad2:

Ditto here!! From what I understand from different peoples reviews, we should completely avoid the nightime emh, but take advantage of the morning emh only for MK.

Is the original poster saying they went to the park that had had late evening hours the night before?? Or is she saying she avoided the park that had early hours that same day??

As an experienced mousketeer that is leaving on June 27-this is what we are doing. We are going to the EMH late night park the next day. For example, if MK is EMH on Tuesdaynite-we will be going WED morning. If there is EMH at Epcot on Monday a.m., we will go the night before. We used this as a guide to plan our itinerary. Guess I won't know for sure if it is going to work until I get there. I will let everyone know how it worked when we get back!

I'm sorry if I wasn't clear...We completely avoided all EMH days. MK had EMH morning on Wednesday and EMH evening on Friday. We went on Thursday. MGM had EMH evening on Sunday and EMH morning on Tuesday. We went on Monday. Epcot's EMH evening was on Thursday and its EMH morning was on Monday. We went Friday and Tuesday.

I will say that I didn't have to ponder whether or not I was going to participate in EMH because we stay offsite. It sure did make my decision easy, but I just wanted to let others know the results of my avoiding those days.

Thanks for the info.

Question - you mentioned that Typhoon Lagoon was not too crowded on Sunday. I always avoided the water parks on the week-ends because I assumed that they would be crowded with locals, but you say that Sunday was OK? I would love to go on a Sunday morning this July. Could enough of the locals go to church on Sunday morning to make it worth my while?
Anyone else have experience with the water parks on Sunday mornings in July? (I am only concerned with the mornings. We always get there for opening and leave after 2 or 3 hours.)

Thanks in advance for any info.

We got there at about 10AM (it opened at 9) and had our pick of seats by the wave pool. I was very surprised because I was also worried about crowds. It was quite empty at that time, but started filling up by the time we were leaving at 2PM. The weather was absolutely beautiful (well, beautiful to me is hot and sunny) :sunny: .

Tell me about it I leave in 14 days July 2-9 and I have had to call my TA to change MY PS oops ADR almost every other day. Since people are saying this park then avoid this then and do that. But the one thing in common is if you want a table service for dinner you better have a PS opps ADR! or you mostlikey will not get a table. This ofcourse Becomes very important if you added the Dinning Plan.

LovePug, Thanks for all the info. I had scheduled TL for Sunday AM but was starting to second guess myself after seeing posts to avoid waterparks on the weekend. Now I'm going to keep my original plan for Sunday. Also thanks for the info as far as EMH. We are early risers and staying on sight with park hopper tickets so I think we will still do early EMH then go to the park that was night EMH, hopefully this will work. :smooth: Again thanks! It's really helpful to hear from folks who have been recently.

Thanks so much for the info, LovePug! I had my days all planned out when they changed the EMH's. I was hesitant to change too many things due to PS I'd already made, but this prompted me to flip-flop two days I had.

Much appreciated! :)

We are about to change some of our ARs to avoid EMH and my DH keeps saying "I thought we were going during SLOW season!!!"

Do you really think we will need to rearrange all of our plans when we aren't going until Aug. 28-Sept 3rd.

He seems to think all of this planning is crazy. And so far the only EMH I have is MK. He just doesn't think it will be crowded on Aug 31st???

:confused3 :confused3

We've been going since 1977 (way before EMH) and I never go near a park on EMH mornings.

Morning EMH has always seemed pretty much semi-nuts to us. Go where most of the crowd isn't, not where most of it is.
