*Plans*
As I said before, in my pre trip-report, there weren't a lot of plans this time. POP first night, Hyattt Regency Grand Cypress the other three nights. No dining reservations at all.
*Actual*
Weather - Hot. Humid. Massive monsoons every day.
Yeah, I expected summer/Orlando weather, but the practically daily/massive thunderstorms were a bit unexpected. We had gone to WDW last August & an afternoon thunderstorm wouldn't have been unusual, but these daily hour...or two...or three storms were just plain nasty! By the way, this June eneded up being the wettest on record. Never did make it to the swimming pools.
Crowds - Wow, the park-going public crowds have returned in droves!!! Magic Kingdom was always crowded, even during the Evening Extra Magic Hours. I saw guests walking around MK without any visible wristbands after the public hours were over. We were only asked once by a ride op that night to show our wristbands. One day, we wanted to try out Le Cellier & they were completely booked-up for that evening.
Resorts
We went to check in to POP & were asked if we would mind moving to Port Orleans/Roverside? Well, twist my arm! A moderate at a value resort price? We always like PO/R. The check-in took a bit longer to get straightened out, but we were put in Parterre Place. We loved it...just a short stroll to Port Orleans/French Quarter's food court. We have a Disney Dining Experience membership, so get 20% off at PO/FQ
(love those beignets).
The Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress was as nice as ever. We've stayed there before on points (DH is a Diamond Member in their frequent stay program). We always get to stay on their Regency Club level, which is the Hyatt's concierge level. Very nice, fairly hearty continental breakfast in the am, cookies/coffee throught the day, light h'orsdoeuvres(sp?) in the evening, etc. Very nice. We were even upgraded to a pool view room.
Pool View, you say? Why is that so special? *Because*...it *also* has a view of WDW...meaning Wishes! and IllumiNations!!! from the comfort of our balcony.
Highlights
Being able to spend time together as a family. DH is away every week, so we treasure time together.
Buying that Kinoca/Minolta digital camera before we left. DD had it all figured out & was even able to hook the camera up to the room TV for a slide-show.
Riding 'Soarin twice during Epcot's EMH/am hour. Sweeeeeeeeeeeeet. I really like this ride. And we asked for & got Row 1 seating both times. The first time we were in Row 1, section A(on the left of the theatre), but we were first in, so we were right next to the middle section. The second time we were in Row 1, Section B!!! Middle/middle...really cool both times. My DD kept on saying how much fun the ride was in bare feet. (She wore flip-flops & had to take them off, stowing them in the underseat bin). *So* I took my shoes/socks off, to feel the breezes too...what fun!!! To everybody in the two rows behind us that morning when we rode the second time?...sorry, but it was too much fun to wiggle my toes!
Finally seeing Impressions de France. My DD & I had started listening to a park CD & really started liking the music a lot...we went in & were the only three people in the theatre! *And* we chose to watch it during IllumiNations...what a bunch of rebels, eh
?
Any other questions, feel free to ask away.
agnes!
