Well, I would say it depends on your child. Let me tell you a little about the ride and maybe it will help you decide. You are seated in a "hang-glider" which seats 3 rows of guests (7 people in each row). When the ride starts, you are actually lifted off the ground and slowly brought forward in front of a very large, round movie screen. You are pretty much surrounded on 3 sides by the movie screen so you do feel "immersed" in the experience and feel like you are up in the sky. As the "movie" starts, your hang-gliding machine actually moves, tilts and dips with the images on the screen (not fast like a rollercoaster, more like a gentle "swooping" sensation). With the wind machines going, it was truly a spectacular experience. At times, you feel like you want to lift your feet up so you don't hit the tops of the trees as you swoop over them!!

However, I am very prone to motion sickness, and I had to close my eyes in the very beginning as you are being "lifted" through the clouds. I was bummed and thought I'd never make it through the whole ride, but I heard so many "ooh's and "aah's", that I had to open my eyes. It was spectacular! There were a few times when they made you feel like you were banking hard to one side or the other, and I did have to briefly close my eyes again, but for the most part, it really was an amazing experience.

You might want to try a child-swap the first time and ride for yourself. Then you can tell if your child would be able to do it.

It seems to me that this is our newest cultural phenomenon. Everyone has a cell phone and they seem to be talking on it constantly. I don't know enough people to spend that much time on the phone.

It cuts across every possible economic level and seems like it must be free when you consider how much time is spent on them. I work for public transit (bus). We carry people to the local food shelf for breakfast, lunch and dinner. These are people who supposedly cannot afford to feed themselves. I would conservatively estimate that 70% of them have cell phones and are on them the entire trip. I even overheard one conversation in which the person was inviting the other to join them at the food shelf for lunch.

I see cars that are total rust buckets, driven by people with ratty clothes and missing key teeth that are driving, smoking and talking on their cell phone all at the same time. It has become an American obsession, I think.

Technology cannot be stopped so plan on it only getting worse.

While I sometimes find people talking on cell phones annoying, I have to admit that they give my family so much more freedom than we ever had while touring WDW in the past. Now, our teenager can head to DQ, dh can take our other ds on the coasters, and I can take our dd to see the princesses...without having to worry too much about anyone. We're not folks who like to "chat" on the phone, so we won't be the party the neighboring table calling all of our friends at home to loudly report on our trip; but you might find dh sitting on an out-of-the-way bench taking an emergency call from his office.

As far as tired children out too late....What about tired, cranky parents? Our 3 kids just won't stop when they're at WDW!!! It doesn't help that they're normally night-owls at home, too. I'm the complete opposite. Grrrrrrr!!
