Just Back! In Parks 7/5-7/9 - TRIP REPORT

ACK! I just did it AGAIN!!! (Accidentally deleted a huge post with tons of pics, that is...). I worked on it for an hour....:sad2:

I'll try to finish Day 2 later tonight.....

Very enjoyable;)

We were at DL last July and we were COLD too. It was in the 70's and that gray drab sky just made it even colder. We actually wore light jackets almost the whole trip. ;)

We had brought jackets just in case...we are from Phx...and very thin blooded:goodvibes

Then, we decided to go see Great Moments with Abraham Lincoln. This has ALWAYS been an attraction that DH and I enjoy. Plus, I had tied in a bunch of mini unit studies (we homeschool) on DLR related elements...aviation, Lincoln, Lewis Carrol, New Orleans culture, etc., and wanted the kids to see the Lincoln thing. I used to LOVE it. Now, I hate it. It's so boooooooring! The one with Matthew Brady tied in was SO good! This one was so entirely un-engaging. The artwork in the lobby was worth seeing, but the actual presentation was, IMO, a total waste of time. My In-Laws were probably wondering why I had dragged them in to watch it. Anyway, they had a great model of Splash Mountain inside....

Hey, just following along on your report. :D

What exactly is the Lincoln thing? I know I could ask elsewhere, but now is as good a time as any! I've never been to it, in all the years I've gone to Disney. xD

Great Moments with Abraham Lincoln is an attraction where you go into a theater and there is a lifelike, animatronic Abraham Lincoln that stands and talks. Over the years the presentation has been different....at one time he recited the Gettysburg Address; then for years it was set up so you wore a set of headphones as you watched, and Matthew Brady (famous Civil War photographer) was integrated into the presentation.

Now, it's kind of a film about milestones/significant events of his life, followed by the robotic Lincoln standing and speaking.

My In-Laws are from Kingman, so they were absolutely freezing. We live in Northern California, and quite honestly, Summer hadn't really hit our area before we left for our trip so we didn't find the weather unpleasant. Maybe a little too cold for the first couple of hours, but we were fine after that. My Arizonian In-Laws, on the other hand, felt like they'd been stuck in a walk-in freezer, hahahaha!!!:rotfl:

No big deal. A number of people post reports small or large in this section, some the mods see, some not.

Jack

Jack -

We actually do see them all - but there is a difference, though, in what's a real TR and what isn't. We already have it planned what goes where, to which section. Some of the Trip Reports you see in the main DL section are not really TRs, even if someone calls them that. They may just be a synopsis of a person's trip, or a list of highlights or thoughts. Maybe there is one post with some photos to illustrate those thoughts. We can leave those brief highlight/synopsis posts in the main DL section because it may pertain to something going on within that week that is relevant to people planning, and that main DL section is really just for planning-related threads. But I could see that this thread was more of an actual, genuine Trip Report, so it belongs in the TR section.

In any case, no worries, Mugglemama - I figured you didn't know that it was supposed to go here, and I left a forwarding link so people would be able to find it!:goodvibes
