Just got back from a great week and after my 2nd time being there for the week of Labor Day ... I am sold for life.

Even the holiday weekend was not bad. We had minimal crowds on Saturday until about 11:30 and got all of TLand and FLand done that AM. Then things were pretty ok on Sunday at Epcot (fast pass for Soarin only about 45 minutes out!) and we even had a blast the last hour of EMH at the MK on Sunday.

By Monday we felt like we had the parks to ourselves ... walk on after walk on after walk on even on the day I was freaking out because we got a late start!

Even with the Free Dining we never waited for a table more than 5 minutes (and we were late or early a few times). Our meal at Prime Time Cafe was almost deserted. They had some girl trying to solicit people to eat at Hollywood and Vine at the corner where you have to turn to go to H & V or PTC! They were even talking walkups (I saw two two seaters go in as walk ups) at LeCellier on Thursday evening.

So ... it was great ... We loved our Labor Day week back in 2001 and we loved it again this time!

We will most likely be back next year the same week!

We were there too. :thumbsup2 We did chat with a castmember at Spaceship Earch who told us that 20,000 people cancelled from the U.K. because of the airline situation. So that may account for the lower crowds.

We were there last Labor Day and we saw a pretty big increase in crowds during Labor Day weekend. I guess the security situation in England would cause a lot of cancellations. I didn't even think of that.

We had pretty much the same experience. Even though we made ADRs, we arrived early and were seated right away. That's honestly a first for us.

Obsessed, first off welcome back glad you had a great trip!

Now on to our comments - can you tell us more about your experience at the MK EMH night? I'm reading into your comments that it was good for rides only in the last hour so I want to make sure I understand what you're saying correctly (or in other words, how were the crowds/lines during the MK EMH night (and any other EMH night you did))

thanks for the scoop!

I am really shocked by that figure. I know of a few families that were not comfortable travelling after the terrorist plot at Heathrow but even still 20,000 is a huge amount.

As far as i'm concerned no terrorist has ever or will ever stop me from doing what i want to do when i want to do it. I would never play into their hands and i would never let them win.

I will be flying from the UK to Florida on the 19th Sept and i can't wait. I hope the terrorists rot in hell. :furious:

now thats a serious cancellation

Sure Tiger Law ...

We avoided EMH for the most part as it is sooo true (believe it when people tell you) that everyone sleeps in and hits the park late then hangs around until like 11pm or so. We would have minimal lines in the AM to get in and for rides ... but then at 12:00 as we were leaving we'd see people streaming in at the gates.

We headed into the MK EMH that was from 10 - 1 around 11:15 and people were streaming out. My thought process was that wishes ended and they popped on a ride or two .. then left. After eating dinner (we were starving) My kids rode the Speedway (we never let them bc of the line) and had maybe a 5-10 minute wait. We walked over to BTTMR but it was closed due to technical issues ... so we left and went to POC and rode that with no wait.

I think if the EMH is later than 12:00 and you can hang that late you will do fine. I would not even try anything that ended earlier ... too many late sleepers who will target the evening EMH park. I heard this thought process in conversations over and over again.

But ... experiences vary and others have posted about having nice EMH experiences at ealier ending ones.

Are the restrictions still tight there? I am wondering if maybe some of the families are cancelling from fear of flying with their kiddos without so much as a coloring book to keep them occupied for the ???? hour flight. (I have no idea how long it is)

I would be a nervous wreck worrying about how to keep dd4 happy for a long time w/out access to a book, crayons, gameboy, small toys.

Hi there. :wave2:

Security has eased a bit. The children are allowed their usual things, books, pencils, gameboys etc. Which is good for us as i have two DS's under 6 and it would be pretty hard occuping them for 9 hours!!

We are still not allowed quite a lot of things, obviously liquids but also other things. We will manage and do exactly what we are asked to do. I know our carry on bag has to be a lot smaller and we have to be thoroughly checked at the airport, removing shoes and even the childrens strollers are totally checked over.

But basically this is how it has to be. We don't mind this and no law abiding person would. If it stops any disillusioned scum bags from trying to do unforgivable harm to others then that is fine by me. :thumbsup2

We did MK EMH after going to Ohana's and found the crowds to be mostly light depending on the ride. We did Pirates on the Carribean/quickly moving line/15mins (?), Big Thunder Railroad (family in front of us walked on for 2nd time), Haunted Mansion (walk on), Peter Pan (30 min wait), Stitch (walk on/no wait) some attractions were closed Country Bear Jamboree and Carousel of Progress. Even though they were on the list. Possibly because no one was going to these attractions. I would have done both.

Hi. I'm sorry but i felt i took your thread a bit off topic and i didnt mean to.

I would like to hear as much info as you can give about your holiday. Which park was the busiest, what was the longest wait time you saw and which ride was it? Also can you tell me what the weather is like, both at day and at night?

We are going in 9 days so any info you give would be great.
Thank you. :goodvibes

Just back last night. EVERYTHING total walk on. Longest wait? Yep, Peter Pan. Had a blast! We weren't at one park at opening. Walked on Dumbo at 12:30pm.

I LOVE NOT WAITING IN LINES!!!! :cheer2:

My BIL and his fiance were there last week and he said it was really slow. They were also at the MK on labor day and were able to ride every ride and they didn't get in until midday.

We were there too and have already decided to do it again next year!!! Saturday was the most crowded to me but even that being said, it was not bad at all!!
See ya next year!!!

We were there the week before Labor Day. In fact, the day that the hurricane was supposed to hit we owned the MK park. Not a line anywhere! Many rides were half empty. Luckily, it didn't start raining that day until after 4:00 and we had gotten an early start so back to the VWL for a little rest and relaxation. The
whole week was rather light in crowds. I wonder what it would have been like if the 20,000 extra tourist from UK had made it?

Did the CM say that the 20,000 cancellation figure was for that week or for a total of weeks?

She really didn't specify. My impression was that it was for that week. We did talk about a wide range of subjects. They're happy with the new Disney CEO, the small rewards being done for the castmembers and other things coming up which was reiterated by another conversation we had with a different castmember.....

Oh my! No problem! I hadn't a clue about all that was going on. You are in another world while in WDW ... know what I mean?

Busiest park? Hmmmm ... well .... none of them were busy so that is a tough one. LOL. I would say the MK on Saturday.

AM heat was bearable ... mid day heat opressive ... followed by early evening showers ... followed by cooler more comfy tempatures. Never needed a sweater, that is for sure. But it was not as hot most days as I expected and we almost looked foward to that evening shower we knew would cool things off. Bring ponchos!

I waaaannnaaaa gooooo baaaaack!

LOL

Friday was light at Epcot, little heavier at MGM on Saturday (disappointed no Fantasmic that night - park closed at 7:30), heaviest day was Sunday at MK - but even so Fast passes helped us ride the mountains multiple times. Tuesday through Friday were a breeze. no need for fast passes on these days - even Soarin'. Went to Labor day last year, will do it again as long as can get around DD's starting school next year.
