We were at WDW from 9/8-13 and upon our arrival, my DH had a terrible cold which threw our dinner plans right out the window for the first two days as he had no sense of taste (as a side rant...I'd much rather deal with a child with pneumonia than my DH with a cold!!). So here are the main places we ate at after the taste buds returned!
Mama Melrose - I had read the menu on Deb's site prior to going so DH had sites set on Pork Tenderloin and I wanted the Pasta with broccoli and cream sauce....imagine my disappointment when neither of these are now on the menu! So my DH had the Wild Mushroom Risotto and I had the penne a la vodka. DH said Riosotto tasted as though it were "instant" and my Penne was just ok. Kids shared the spaghetti. I'd only give it a "C".
Beaches and Cream - DD and I had Chicken Noodle Soup and Onion Rings. Soup was good. Way too many rings to finish, but they were ok. DH had Hamburger and DS had Hotdog. A couple across from us were eating the Kitchen Sink and boy that is a lot of ice cream. I was ill from the thought of eating all that!! I'd give the B&C a "B".
1900 Park Faire Character Dinner - The buffet was good. The prime rib was excellent and I also loved the roast potatoes. The characters were good at beginning of meal, but as restaurant became more full, the interaction slowed significantly. I'd suggest going as early to opening as possible for best "fun". A-
Wolfgang Puck Cafe - DH had the lasagne and we've never seen a larger piece of lasagne...it filled the entire plate. He said it was ok, but my lasagne was better...bless him! I had the Chicken Penne which was ok, but we both agreed that we should have gone back to our favourite Rosemary Chicken meal!
Our best meal of the trip was actually at Portofino Hotel at Universal at the Italian restaurant called Trattatoria Del Porto. They had an excellent buffet and a great play area for kids with a clown that was doing face painting and making balloons. We actually felt like it was just the two of us dining since the kids were always back in the play area!
