Is it possible that cesspool of germs got me sick within 24 hours? :scared: Checked in Thursday, checked out late this afternoon, and now I'm up at 2am with a killer sore throat.

They only had to close the wading pool twice to clean up poop/vomit :crazy2:

Why did I let Dh talk me into that place!

I usually get a sore throat from all the chlorine in the air there! But I never let my daughter go in the kiddie pool part because its just like swimming in a giant toilet bowl!

You may have already been coming down with something prior to going. You might have contributed some germs. ;)

Its too early for symptoms if you would have caught something at GWL. As someone else suggested, the sore throat could be from the chlorine.
But more than likely something was brewing before you went.

I thought the same thing a few weeks back. A few weekends ago we went to the Great Wolf Lodge in Williamsburg with the girlscouts. The very next day I woke up with sore throat, and then the "cold"came on, sneezing, stuffy nose etc...I had a full blown cold that lasted 2 weeks..I thought it was from there too, but then realized I probably had something "brewing" before that.

When we have been to GWL we are usually beyond exhausted by the end of the day. All the physical activity and water and chemicals really take a lot out of you. I think if you already have germs brewing for an attack and then you don't get any rest it allows them to take over. Rest is what gives our bodies time to fight off germs.

We have been there several times and no one has ever gotten sick, but anytime you are in public you risk getting sick, be it GWL, the mall, a restaurant, work, school, the grocery store, WDW or where ever. There are kids and adults putting their germy hands on a whole lot of surfaces, but I think it takes longer than 24 hours for them to multiply enough to take over. GWL is probably less germy than many places actually because the amount of chlorine kills most things and they are usually very good about keeping things clean.

DD and I actually got very sick from a water park about 12 years ago. I ended up in the hospital for a week because I was so sick but I haven't stopped going to water parks or swimming pools, where it could always happen again.

I hope you feel better quick! :)

:scared1: Is saw that "Undercover Boss" with the poop floating :scared1:

We've brought home the swine flu, regular flu, and a case of pink eye from GWL in Concord, NC. Needless to say we won't be going back.

Just curious as to how anyone knows for sure where they pick up germs? They are EVERY WHERE so just walking out in public puts you at risk.

I have to say that I have been to GWL in Concord 3 seperate times and have never gotten sick. If I did become ill while there or after I returned, I would realize it was probably something I was exposed to prior to my visit. Yes, it IS possible to catch something while you are there as it is anywhere. I just don't see myself blaming a resort for an illness or virus that I could have been exposed to at a number of places.
