We were in these two places last week, and I want to thank everyone so very sincerely for their good advice! We were at Amerisuites for 3 nights and MGV for 4 nights and man, what a trip! New insights I will add for those considering Amerisuites: I do NOT feel you could ever ever ever score a better deal than a two double bed suite in a brand new facility with an excellent breakfast so close to Disney for so low a price (what a run-on sentence!) Anyway, I paid the $44 a night Entertainment rate and it was well worth it....pool was uncrowded, and smallish, but great! food was great at breakfast (and when people say fresh fruit. they mean that great fresh fruit salad like peeled orange slices and grapefruit and melon and grapes, etc.: very good) Overall, I was very pleased...I requested a first floor room next to the main pool, which they accommodated EXACTLY as I'd requested... And THEN the Grande Vista which I was MORE than pleased: I wanted to MOVE in - ha. We requested BLDG 91 on the second floor, and we overlooked a quiet pool and it was GREAT. The unit itself was BEAUTIFUL (2 bd 2 bath) -- our timeshare presentation was scheduled for 7:45 and we pulled away from there at 9:25 and I kept my 6 yr old and 3yr old with me the entire time and did not check them into the kids program (and they were BUMMED because they WANTED to be checked in)...anyway, our sales guy was Randy Frank and if anyone is considering doing this: REQUEST HIM -- he is very nice and did not pressure us at all! I leveled with him completely from the get-go and told him I was not a fan of timeshares and it wasn't for us...we were doing this strictly for the great rate and because our sister (in-law) owned at Grande Vista. He was cordial and professional and did not creep us out in the least. We loved everything about Grande Vista, and if offered the same rate, would jump on it with all our paws! ha -- the rate we got was, I think, $239 for four nights....Anyway, just wanted to say "thanks" to all of your advice...write me with questions!!!

Welcome back, MollyBelle!

Sounds as though you really enjoyed your accomodations--hope the rest of the trip was as wonderful for you! I appreciate the comments on the Amerisuites at Calypso Cay. We will be staying at the Country Inn and Suites (Amerisuites "sister resort" in that same complex) in December. I got the $39.50 Entertainment rate there and feel it's a great deal for the amenities offered: Queen beds, micro and fridge in room, and free breakfast daily. I hope our experience there is as good as yours!

How far was your drive to WDW from each resort?

I'd say from each resort, about 10-15 minutes to get to each park and park the car. Not bad at all, really....at this time of the year, we were in the parks checking out a stroller within twenty minutes of leaving our resorts....cool!
