Just got back today from 8 days at YC and AKL. We had a wonderful time! I will post highlights later but if anyone has any questions let me know

Which resort did you like best and why? They both seem wonderful. If you have children, which did they like and what are their ages? Thanks for your help. I know that you are probably going thru withdrawl, but this to will pass (with a call to CRO for your next trip's ressie). -Dizma:cool:

Both resorts have their good points. The Yacht club's location can't be beat. The access to MGM and Epcot is so great. My son is 14 and my daughter is 17. Being so close to both parks my son could go back to the resort when he was tired of what we were doing. He also loved the video games at illumination in Epcot so he could go over there when he wanted. My daughter put it best when I asked her what resort she liked best. She said the she loved where Yacht club was and it was a pretty resort but she felt like she was supposed to be someone important at Yacht club. At AKL she felt like a regular person visiting another country. For our family AKL was our favorite! It is such a beautiful place and you just feel so at home while also seeing things you would never see at home. The bus service is also much better at AKL. AT YC you don't ride buses to Epcot or MGM but you do to everywhere else. We waited for buses for longer periods of time and made many more stops while at the Yacht Club. While we were at AKL it was farther but there were no other stops so it ended up being quicker. When we go back we will probably stay at both for the above reasons but we do prefer AKL. Sorry so long.

Thanks for the info - it's funny - my husband said he didn't want to stay at YC/BC because of that reason - when he is on vacation he doesn't want to feel like he has to be "somebody". We are booked at the AKL in September, and I am so happy to hear you liked it. I just read a trip report the other day and the person didn;t seem to care for it, so of course I got a little nervous. But to be honest, that was the only negative report I have heard. Glad you had a good time!

kellyh123: Hi! thanks for sharing your information. My mother and I will be staying at AKL the week of July 4th. This will be our first stay at AKL and am just not sure if I made the right choice. I'm so use to staying at the monorail hotels for the convenience but thought we would try something different this time. I'm hoping I made the right choice. Seems like your family had a wonderful time at the AKL and I'm glad you and yours enjoyed your stay. Thanks for sharing your information about the buses that was a worry also.

Again, I appreciate your comments.

Hi Kellyh123, did you ever stay at the Poly? We currently have reservations there, and LOVE it. We have stayed before though, and my family is now thinking that we should try a resort we have not been to yet. We are deciding between AKL or YC. This is really a hard choice. Pool looks great at YC (but if it's really crowded there, that doesn't appeal to us)....but atmosphere at AKL really looks cool, especially since we LOVED the WL too.

Decisions, decisions.....it's so hard. Just looking for any other advice/opinions you may have. THANKS!!

We have never stayed at the Poly. We have eaten dinner at Ohanas twice and really loved that. When we were at the Poly it had a great atmosphere.

The walk took about 10 minutes to Epcot. There is also a boat that goes between Epcot and the Yacht club but walking is faster.

Ha! Wonder if we ever crossed paths since we were at the AKL 6/15 - 18 and the BWI 6/19 - 23.

With all that rain, we didn't come home with suntans - it's just rust! :)

Just wondering...if you walked to Epcot from YC, how long did it take you?

We have stayed at t he YC many times and we always walk to Epcot. It takes about five minutes because you go through a back entrance that places you between England and France.
