Just back from 7 nights at WL. We checked in about 12:30 pm on Jan 19. No line - took 5 minutes tops. We had reserved non-smoking, woods view, with a fridge. We were given # 4086, directly above the Whispering Canyon Cafe, overlooking the lobby.

Upon first blush I was sorely disappointed. The room appeared small after staying in DVC our last few trips. Also the balcony was the enclosed type and the view was woods - if you looked beyond the parking lot. Yuck!

I was also worried about the noise from the restaurant and there was no fridge!

I called the front desk and the fridge was delivered within minutes. We decided to go to MK and get something to eat...hoping this would put us in a better frame of mind. It worked! After a few hours with the mouse, the room worries faded away. We were tired and returned to the room before dark. We decided we loved overlooking the lobby. We got hot chocolate and sat in the rocking chairs that were directly in front of our door and people watched. At one point we heard the booming of Wishes and wondered where we could go within WL to get a good view. Well, how about our balcony?????

We could see Wishes from our balcony!!! This one thing made up for all the other disappointments. From that moment on I loved #4086!

Housekeeping left us towel animals 4 of 7 days. We were "cleaned" daily, but I don't think they ever vaccumed. Either that or we were really messy. Hee Hee.

Upon check out I figured out that we didn't get charged for the fridge. I didn't think we would, but was told we might.

I cannot think of any real problems we encountered and would be happy to answer any questions.

Thanks for your report, Pig Pen!! We will be arriving at WL in about 8 days. We too have a Woods View booked, Lobby View and 6th floor requested.

1) Really, how bad was the view (parking lot)? Please be candid. . .did it look like more of a "Standard" view?

2) This may be a strange question, BUT, how was the bathroom (layout, cleanliness, etc)?

3) Did you get a lot of natural light in the room (Yes, I am a nerd for asking such a question---I love natural light)?

Thank you in advance, and I am glad that you enjoyed your trip!

I think we had the same room! Did it have bunk beds? Anyway, we had the same concerns when we arrived, especially about noise from WC! Aside from the ringing of the "dinner bell" at 5 pm, we really didn't hear noise from WC. It was a great room, and we loved overlooking the lobby. Glad you had a nice vacation.

1. I think if you want to be over the lobby, you will need to put up with the parking lot view. It was pretty bad. Between the lodge and the parking lot is a small strip of land. The hurricane had partially knocked down a tree and it was still there, kind of dead. I think if you ask for the Otter Pond view, you will be beyond the parking lot, but also beyond the lobby. We were on the 4th floor, so maybe the parking lot would not be so visible from the 6th floor.

2. The bathroom consisted of a tub and toilet in one room, with double sinks in an alcove off the entrance hallway area. Everything was very clean, but the sink top was a bit worn looking. The fridge was under the sink, so this cut into the space and used up a plug.

3. Our room faced north so did NOT get direct sunlight. I kept the drapes open all day long. Luckily it was very sunny during our trip. If it had been cloudy I think the room would have been dark as the wood and fabrics are dark as well.

As I said, being able to see Wishes from the balcony was a great perk. We also enjoyed being over the lobby and near the action. We would crack our door open so we could hear the music from the lobby.

I think you will LOVE the lodge! Have a great trip.

We didn't have bunkbeds, but I think the rooms on either side of us did. There were several little "pardners" in both rooms. We never heard them through the walls, but saw them on their balconies watching Wishes too!

Welcome back! :)

We stayed in 4082 back in '96 and really liked the room. As I recall, the view wasn't that great, but I don't remember seeing the parking lot. But. the location more than made up for it.

Thank you for your quick reply, Pig Pen! It does help to know what to expect in terms of view before I leave. My DH and I REALLY want a Lobby View--it's just breathtaking, and as you stated, "near the action." Thanks again!

Is that on the north wing? I'm considering WL for a summer trip and would really like to get a woods view on an upper floor, view of MK for wishes. I'm just not sure exactly what to ask for---I would rather not have a parking lot view, but if I can get the wishes view, we'll deal with it! :confused3 Any info is greatly appreciated!

The rooms that face the MK are in the North wing of the Lodge. Hope this helps!

Hi, Just a brief question, does all the rooms at WL have balconys.. Planning on staying there this summer and was wondering if all the rooms had balconys.. Glad to know that the north wing is the area that we might would like to be to see Wishes.Glad that you had a nice trip.. :wave2:

4086 is where we stayed after getting married on the 4th floor deck overlooking the pool...

I'm pretty certain they all have balconies. Some of the balconies are "enclosed" versus an open railing. This means if you are sitting down you will have a difficult time seeing over the wall.

The pool was nowhere in sight from our room!

I have also heard if you ask to be over the Otter Pond, you will have an MK view. I can't verify that though.

When I booked, I requested a view of MK. I was booked into a woods view room. I think it was 6019???? Had a perfect view of the monorail, castle, and wishes. I could also see the water parade going by. This was a great room!

We were at the WL the second week in Jan. and had a view of both otter pond and Wishes from room 5012 (bunks, too). Great room--relatively close to the elevators (but far enough away not to hear any noise), which were then close to Roaring Forks, the pool, and the boat dock.

Hope this info helps!

Any ideas on how to get them to give you a great room location when you check in? We have requested 2 rooms together, connecting if possible and one with bunk beds. There are 8 of us travelling in July. :sunny:

Pig Pen - I think they got married on the pool deck then stayed in your room :)
