Just back from WL, watch out for stick horses!

I just got back from a quick trip to WL. It was just me and my DS who turned 9. We had a wonderful time. We loved the WL, the lobby, the pool and the whole feel of it. We had stayed atCSR and loved it too, but WL is much more homey and more convenient. We started our trip off at the Whispering Canyon and I mentioned that it was my DS 9th birthday, thinking smugly that he would get embarassed. Much to my dismay, when the waitress brought out the stick horse it was for me! I had a lovely time galloping and singing Happy Birthday around the restaurant. Thank goodness, my son can't take very good digital pictures, so the evidence is blurry. Needless to say, this was the best present my son could have gotten!

Glad to hear you had a great time! I just loved WL when we stayed there in September. Our 20 month old was getting fussy at dinner at Whispering Canyon, so our waitress took it upon herself to entertain him. She brought out a trick ketchup bottle for him to play with and her favorite stick pony, Star. What a great place!

Sounds like a blast. I wanted to eat there so bad but it wasn't in our plans. I heard a few of the antics though one night walking through the lobby and it sounded hilarious. This place is first on my list for our next trip.

dismikki, i am still laughing as i'm writing this. let me tell you why i can't stop. on a previous stay at th WL we too ate for the first time at whispering canyon cafe. my DD happened to tell the waiter (even though she was forbidden to by my husband) that it was her daddy's birthday. we had a huge table of extended family members there to see what unfolded. the waiter tied my husbands napkin into one of those things they wore on their heads in animal house in the toga party scene and made him wear it on his head. now mind you my husband is the type of man who would never go along with this but he did. they then handed him the STICK HORSE which he was told to put between his legs and ride around the entire restaurant which he also did. to top it all off he had to ride around while singing happy birthday to HIMSELF. everyone in the whole place was quiet and watching and our table was choking and crying because we were laughing so hard. that is a memory that to this day we crack up just thinking about it. i thank you for bringing up the stick horse moment you had. i really needed a good laugh. i'm still laughing!!!

I loved that place!!! They made my BIL dress up like a waitress, apron, tray and all and walk around and seat people and take orders!! It was hysterical!!!!

We were staying in the WL and later my BIL came back from the lobby crying of laughter saying there was a woman riding a stick horse around the lobby shouting "Next Time I will sing happy birthday" over and over, with a CM hanging off the railing of the restaurant shouting "you look like a fool".

I love that place! I only wish there was a place to eat like that in PA!!!!!

I had no idea about this restaurant! Looks like I will have to add it to our PS list! How fun - you all made me laugh just reading about it!

a CM hanging off the railing of the restaurant shouting "you look like a fool".
:rotfl:

I'm afraid to eat there. My DH is the type that would die if singled out in a crowd. I'm afraid we'd have to leave and come home if he gets embarrassed. Is there any way to let them know to only pick on me and the kids?

Ok! Now I want to add this to our list of places to eat next trip! It sounds like too much fun!:teeth:
