Just back from WL - any questions????

Hey guys, we are just back from a week at the WL and loved it. I have to tell you that the Disney Magic still is around as we found out the night we arrived (03-08). We drove down (about 10 hours from NC) and had planned to stop in Jacksonville or there abouts. But to our dismay found that it was Bike Week in Daytona and almost every place we stopped on I-95 was booked or was charging an outrageous amount for a not so great hotel.

Well, we decided to continue on to WDW and got there about 1 am. My DH works 3rd shift so staying up at night is not a problem for him. But as you could imagine me and kids were all beat!!!

When we arrived the CM's at both the MK gate and the WL gate were great and let us right through. MY DH went into the WL and explained that we were not to check in until the next day but could they find a room for us that night? The CM "Patrick" was great and went back in the office and came back and said he would go ahead and let us have our room early NO CHARGE!!!!

I could not believe it!! We could not get our room keys at that time so he walked us to our room and let us in and to my surprise we had a room overlooking the waterfall (courtyard , I guess) which was wonderful. Now you know I only booked a standard room so I had not planned for any kind of view. It was great!!!

I just had to go down the next morning and check in - no one was the wiser!! Thanks Patrick!!

Welcome Back, glad you had a great trip! We leave for WL in May, it is our first time staying there so your report made me very happy!!! Do you know if all of the rooms have a balcony??

How was the transportation?
Was there any construction or refurbishments going on?

Having stayed at WL several times I will answer the balcony question. To my knowledge all rooms have balconies except first floor rooms and they have a patio.

I am so envious! We are going the week of Thanksgiving and staying at the WL! Was it as wonderful as everyone says it is?

The transportation was great. We never had a problem. We even went to the Disney Sports complex and did not have a problem (we saw the Atlanta Braves play). We used the boat to go to the MK each time and used the buses to go everywhere else. We never waited more than 5 min at the resort for a bus, but waited 15-20 min at least at PI for a bus (wednesday night).

I posted another message about the renovations happening at the WL. They did not interfere with our stay at all.

The resort was great, but I must say I personally like the atmosphere at the Poly better, more laid back to me. We did go to the Poly this time for the character breakfast, so I got little reminder of what it is like. The next time I go we plan to stay at GF which is another resort we have not tried before. But I would stay at the WL again as my kids really liked it!

How was the boat transportation to the MK? What was your average wait?

The boats were fairly quick and we never had to wait more than 10 min. This seemed to be a crowded time so they may have been running more boats. We did however have to take the boat that went to the campground a few times as the direct boat filled up before we go to it. Its a nice ride so the added time was not a bother.
