This was our first time renting in this new community (we have stayed in Indian Ridge Oaks and Lake Berkley in the past) and I have to say this was BY FAR the most enjoyable. We rented a 6 bedroom home on Basnett Circle - southfacing pool. Southfacing is essential - homes with backyards facing north had shade most of the afternoon all over their pools. We actually only used the clubhouse once and the first time my 7 year old used their slide (she just barely met the height requirements and she is TALL), she rolled in the slide and banged her head twice and ended up with an ENORMOUS bump and bruise on her head and a concusion. That slide is dangerous and I heard others say that kids have been hurt on it - so don't let your kids use the slide! Our home was managed by Global homes and next door was All Star Homes which has an internet cafe - both Management companies were amazing to deal with!

We learned to use the back entrance to the parks on Sherbeth Rd. which saved time since 192 was always busy! So Windsor Hills gets 2 BIG THUMBS UP from us!

That is great you had a good time. If you would give some more details of what you liked about WH. I'm trying to decide if I should go there or on-site. I would love to hear what you thought about the ride to and from the parks...did you feel like you were on a Disney vacation not being onsite...how did you decide on your house and anything else you can think of. Thanks you so much for any input! :)

Wow...glad you had a great trip, sorry to hear about your daughter though. I will let the other owners and the resort know about the slide, my kids have gone on it a bunch of times and been fine actually...I wonder if something is wrong perhaps? Never heard of a problem with it..and I'm on the owners forums and stuff, so thank you for the feedback. Did you tell anyone in the clubhouse by any chance? (Brian Timmerman? The resort manager?) If not, I will definitely place a call there tomorrow and let them know!

I'm so glad you posted about the height restrictions on the slide. We were considering WH as an option for out next trip because of the water slide. My kids would have been so broken hearted if we got there and they couldn't use the slide because they didn't meet the height requirements. We stayed at Regal Palms last month, and there was not a height restriction on the slide so even my 19 month old DD went down with her dad more times than I could count. She loved it!

What is the height requirement for the slide? I have a 6 yo daughter who will be so sad if she cannot use that slide. She has been drooling over it online since I found windsor hills.

She is tall too......If I go on it with her, would she be able to go down if she didn't meet the height requirement on her own?

TIA!!!!!!!

UPDATE: Height requirement for the pool slide is 48" tall. They have a height sign thing..if you're not tall enough you can't go on it..parents or no. ( I called the WHR clubhouse today to ask).

There's an attendant / lifeguard by it as well to monitor it.

How tall is your DD Jen?

I'm fairly certain it's 44" ...might be 46" though...my DS went on it when he was 6 though...no problem.... my DW isn't tall enoug though (she's 4...and 41" tall). They have a height sign thing..if you're not tall enough you can't go on it..parents or no.

Whew.....she is 48" right now, so we are good!!!!!

Yes that's plenty tall enough...she'll be tall enough for the slide...and to get on all the rides at WDW...you'll be in great shape! :)

My poor DD is just dying to go on Space Mountain and Rock N Roll Roller Coaster...this will be her 4th trip and she's still not tall enough for it...we just measured last night... /sigh.

When my dd went down the slide, once was enough. :scared1: I think it's faster than expected? She went down a bunch of slides at the water parks, but WH's slide was too much for her. At the time she was almost 7 yrs old and 49" tall.

hi George,

How can we find out for sure what the height requirements are for the slide? I'd rather be prepared than get there and then have to tell my youngest dd that she can't slide.

:)

I saw it posted elsewhere last year (3/06) that the sign by the waterslide posted a 48" height requirement. I hope that's incorrect!

I just called the Windsor Hills Clubhouse / receptionist for you guys to confirm the height question...the correct answer is you need to be 48" (4 foot) tall to use the pool water slide. (Hope this doesn't disappoint any kids!)

We just returned from WH last night (AWESOME place!!) and my oldest dd used the water slide over and over!! She loved it. She turned 6 while we were there and she was fine for height (I believe she is 49"). If you sit up on the slide you go slower, if you lay on your back you much faster. I saw so many kids use the slide and not one got hurt while I was there. Many times the smaller ones sat on their bottoms going down and pretty much slowed down right at the end to the point of having to scoot along to the end. The ones who flew out were the "big" people who chose to go down (ahem ... my dh ... quite the splash he made :rotfl2: ) ... the attendant sits right by the bottom of the stairs and only one person at a time goes up. I thought it was well looked after and didn't worry about my dd at all.

Have fun ... can't wait for us to go back :thumbsup2

I can confirm the slide at WH has a height requirement of 48 inches. Your child will be asked to stand next to a sign with a red line on it by the attendant/lifeguard at the base of the slide. We are here now.

This was our first time staying in a villa, and just like the OP, we give Windsor Hills two thumbs up! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

We stayed in a 5-bedroom villa and it was even better than expected! With a party of 10, having our own bedrooms, plus the extra common spaces was greatly appreciated. And the location is tough to beat. It was so close to Disney property. :goodvibes

Note, we rented the villa from a company called Prestigious Villas. They are a top-notch rental agency and were a pleasure to deal with--prompt e-mails and friendly service. We did manage to find the villa owners' site online, *after* our booking reservation and security deposit were sent to Prestigious Villas. We could have saved some money by renting directly with the owners, but we were happy with the rental price originally. So, we didn't let our after-the-fact discovery affect our enjoyment of the villa. Renting a villa definitely contributed to our great vacation experience.

I love reading all these wonderful reports about WH. We are going to be there in three weeks and it is my first time renting a pool home. I am very excited about it. When I showed my kids the pics of the house are renting they were all excited and said how much better it was going to be to stay there instead of at the Polynesian, where we had originally booked!! I couldnt believe it! They loved the Poly but this won them over. They are very excited about the pool slide, the splash pool, and having bedrooms of their own with televisions and dvd players. I showed my aunt also and she liked it so much that she is renting a condo from the same owner of the pool home and coming down with us as well. I am just so excited!!
Thanks again for all the great reviews.:cloud9:

Two Weeks and counting untill our trip to WH. My son is not going to be a happy camper at 46 1/2 inches though. He will have to wait untill our next trip.
