Just back from WDW using MYW dining plan

As long as the rastaurant is on the Dining list, there are no restrictions to what can be ordered. If it's on the menu, it's fair game! So you could pick the most expensive appetizer, the most expensive entree, and the most expensive dessert, and still be covered under the plan. There are posts by some people who have done the plan, and they said the servers were actually advising them of ways to add more on to the bill, like adding side dishes onto the entrees. So you could really maximize the value of the plan by choosing wisely.

Since the tip is already included its to the waiters advantage to get the most expensive meals so I wouldn't worry about that! I also took the plan based mainly on this thread. Thanks again for posting and sharing your experiences, you've been a great help.

LOL...I used to be a waiter and that is exactly what I would do. Get that bill up and take my automatic gratuity happily. Seriously, servers at these restuarants have to love this plan. If it is as good as this thread states, my guess is Disney will eventually tweak it so the savings are not this high. A meal plan at Disney has never been this good.

We only ate at one place that wasn't a buffet or family style meal. And to be quite honest, we felt like we were overeating big time to begin with, LOL. So no, we didn't even attempt to order any sides. I have the feeling, though, if we had it wouldn't have been a problem at all. I got the sense they were trying to be very flexible in implementing the plan.

Gee, that's a hard question not knowing your budget, preferences, time of travel, etc...

I can say if you're on a budget and plan to be in the parks more than the room, Pop is a fun and economical place to stay IMO. The moderates have more to offer in terms of food choices and amenities. Port Orleans, I think, has a trundle bed too so if your DD and DS want to sleep in separate beds that might be an option. Some of the deluxes have a day bed also. We love all of the Disney resorts we've stayed at and hope to eventually try them all.

If you want more info go over to the resorts board and pose your question with additional details. You'll get lots of opinions to help make your decision. Have fun whatever you choose!

(which the plan seems to be worth it even for 2) So what happens if you end up eating counter service every meal? Do you run out and then have to use the rest at long sitdown dinners?

I understand what you mean. I don't like keeping track of time either when I'm on vacation. If I understood your question to mean can you use your sit down coupons as counter coupons - I doubt it. Everything is coded on your KTTW card so if they tried to run through a counter service meal and all those coupons were used I don't think it would go through. But then again we didn't try it but maybe someone else who has used the plan has. I suggest you call 1-800-WDW-DINE to "officially" ask and also pose your question in a new thread to see what turns up. You never know.

DH also says to remind you you can use your sit down coupons for lunch also at sit down restaurants. It doesn't have to be used at dinner. The restaurant is what drives the definition of counter or sit down service, not the food. There are so many food options at WDW I can't imagine you'd have trouble finding places to eat even without PSs. So if you think it's a good deal for your two sit down meals go for it! I'm sure you'll find other ways to use your coupons. Good luck and let us know how it works for you.

can you add the dining option to a package already booked??

You don't have to make PS months in advance. You can go to guest relations, or any restaurant for that matter, and try to make a PS for the same day. When you're getting ready for dinner just check and see what's available. You can even use your cell phone and call while your walking toward the restaurants. Spoodles is generally good for last minute PS.

Yes you can add the dining plan to an exisiting package before you arrive.
No you can't use the plan with the FDP.

We were there this past November and loved the "Wishes" Program offered for meals and such. It was an awesome deal !! I am trying to research all these new options for a trip this Nov. 2005. The dining plan doesn't cover any good restaurants at Epcot ! I am bummed about that, it only offers Germany & Rose & Crown Pub.....I am trying to do the math.....Is it worth it ??? What other ticket options did you add on ??
