And let me say this resort is AWESOME!!!!!

We had a 2 br dedicated unit. It was one of the corner rooms above the lobby. Room #3219. It was huge, and all of the rooms had windows on two walls, so the rooms were light and airy. I think these rooms seem larger than the standard rooms at the Villas, but maybe that was just my imagination.

The balcony had a fabulous view of the Hidden Springs pool, and the lake beyond it. I enjoyed my morning coffee out there, as well as decompressing in the evening before bed.

The lodge itself was just wonderful. The boat rides to the Magic Kingdom, the main pool with the rapids and the waterslide. Many activites for the kids. Watching the Water Pagent from the beach. And of course the lobby! The Iron Spike room may not have the grandeur of the main lobby, but it has a rustic elegance I can't describe, but totally adored. I think we could have stayed at the resort all week without visiting the parks and still have a good time.

This was our first trip as DVC members. And we were thouroughly impressed. Here's to hoping it just gets better and better...I think I see an add-on in my future! :goodvibes

Sounds like a great trip! I really want to get one of those corner rooms someday! Thanks for the report!

Sounds wonderful! Any pictures? Would love to see some! :lovestruc

We got one of those corner rooms, 2219 I believe. It was great! Our only time in a 2 bed and we are spoiled. Glad you had a wonderful 1st DVC trip.

DH and I also just got back from a visit to SSR and we're heading back down to VWL with the family (3 grown kids and gs) mid January in a dedicated 2 bdrm and a studio........can't wait. DH and I had dinner one evening this trip at Artist Point and then walked around the Lodge and over to the Iron Spike Room and we were saying the same thing..........we really could visit VWL and not even leave the grounds and be perfectly happy. We also took a boat out on Bay Lake/Seven Seas Lagoon for an hour one afternoon and it was sooooo relaxing just cruising around the lake. SSR was great too, but, this was our 3rd stay there in the past two years and it's time to go back to VWL........then, hopefully our next visit will be at the new units at AKV (if they're ready by next fall as predicted).

Thats sounds so good right now. Welcome back to 25 degrees! :cold:

We've had 5519 and loved it (definitely got spoiled on that trip). Glad you had a nice trip...it's making me homesick!

Our stay at the Wilderness Lodge was one of the reasons we talked about and eventually joined DVC. That is a gorgeous resort, and we agree with you - we could hang there for a week without hitting the parks and have a great vacation. We cant wait to stay there in a DVC room at some point. We have stayed at SSR (love it) and BWV's (great), so we hope to get them all in soon. Seems each resort so far has had such a unique vibe. We loved how peaceful SSR was, and as golfers you cant beat being right on the grounds of the Lake Buena Vista course. BWV's was a blast, all the stuff going on in the evenings was great. Our daughter loved the magic shows. Being able to walk to Epcot, view Illuminations, walk to MGM. Plus - you have all the food options you could ask for. Wilderness Lodge was just so stunning - the Lobby is my absolute favorite. Artist Point is our favorite restaurant at Disney. They are all great!

Congrats - glad you enjoyed your first DVC trip!

Eric

As soon as I can figure out how to post pics I will. The room was truly amazing...I think I may be spoiled now.

And it was quite a shock to the system to return to freezing temps here in Minnesota, but it was almost too hot and humid for me the last few days in Florida. Not so great for touring, but perfect for long days by the pool!

We had such a great time I think I have my husband convinced to do a small add on for the Villas at Animal Kingdom Lodge. Just enough for a 2br every 3 years says he...we'll see...

Oh well, back to reality.

This sounds like a familiar refrain in my house! Glad that you had a great trip, and enjoyed the atmosphere of this wonderful resort! :thumbsup2
