What a GREAT place!! We had an awesome time!! The weather was hot, (90 and up) but it made for very happy children in the pool and ocean for at least 5-6 hours a day!! A few things:

1. Rooms: We had an inn room which was perfect. It was a garden view room, but we didn't care because we were rarely in the room. However, the location of our room (2209) was literally up the stairs from the lobby, store, The Green Room, right next to the pool. Loved the location.

2. Dining: We loved The Green Room for lunch!!! I can't stress enough how much this place is a gem! You overlook the ocean with cool breezes and good food and drinks!! Shutters was pretty good too. We ate dinner there 3 nights and none of us had a bad meal, it was good food. Sonyas was ok, the seafood buffet was decent, not "too die for" by any means, but it was ok. We ate at the Ocean Grill in town which was very very good. I would recommend this place. DO NOT go to the South Beach Grill (which the front desk recommended) it was like a Denny's painted in pinks, and greens!! Seriously, I would avoid this location! I plan on writing Disney and letting them know my opionions on this restaurant as well!! But all in all, pretty decent food.

3. Pool: A wonderful pool! We all loved the pool and the slide and everything about the pool area. This seems to be the hub of the resort and it was a lot of fun. HOWEVER... There is only a DJ available on the weekends!! Saturday and Sunday were a LOT of fun with the DJ's!! They were playing music, music trivia, with prizes for the kids, games (a lot of fun games for the kids) and it was just a whole lot of fun! We really wished that they could have a DJ during the week as well. The resort was booked solid and we could have used more!! I also plan on letting Disney know about this as well!!

4. Ocean: Loved the ocean!! It was really warm and very, very calm. Almost too calm for boogie boards. We rented Jet Skis and the Kayak and the boogie boards. We also made sand castles and HOLY COW, I couldn't believe the amount of shells!! We had a lot of fun collecting those! OH,OH, we saw HUGE sea turles the whole time we were there!! It was amazing!!

5. Kids activities: This was great for the girls (both 6) they have a lot of great activities for kids at the Community Hall. You have to sign up for them and there is a small fee, but it is worth it! The girls had a lot of fun with the tile painting, shirt painting, clay molding and the Un-Birthday party!! Putt-putt golf was a huge hit too. We played at least once a day!!

6. Night life: Not much goes on at night, but at the Green Room, they did have Bobby (forgot his last name) playing the steel drums and guitar and singing and needless to say, one night we were doing the Conga Line through the Bar with about 10 little girls (ours included) who were just having a blast!! We got most of the bar up and dancing!! It was a hoot!!!

We really had a great time in Vero Beach and are definately going back. If you have any questions, please ask!! I miss it already!!

Glad to hear you really enjoyed Vero! The ocean is amazing -- your next trip you may find crashing waves and a narrow spit of beach.

I agree that nightlife is the one area that could use some jazzing up at the resort. Not sure what would be the answer -- conga dancing sounds like a good start. ;)

Sounds like a wonderful trip! I love the Atlantic coast this time of year. We hope to do VB sometime in the future.

glad to hear that you had such a ggod time!

If you don't mind me asking.....for a famliy of 4, what would you take for spending money and food? We are trying to do some home improvements, so I am trying to "rationalize" to my husband how either HH or Vero Beach might be an "inexpensive" trip if we went there....lol......please people, I need some help with this one! any ideas????

Bobbi

Thanks for all the great info! Sounds like your family had a blast. We're going in February but I'm a little concerned about the weather at that time. Nonetheless it'll be nice to be away from the New England winter. Thanks for the report!

Pam, funny you said that about the ocean. The guys renting the goods said the same thing!! I did like it the way it was though, nice and calm for the girls and lots of beach to walk on.

Bobbi, put it this way. We WAY splurged on everything, including drinks, trinkets at the store (pins, shirts, anklets, even a new bathing suit for DD!! etc.) rented jet skis, boogie boards, kayak, miniature golf and ate lunch and dinner every day at the resort (all but two nights) and had fresh fruit and ice cream by the pool at Breakers and spent a total of $1,098 when we checked out. We could have spent at least half that without us just "swiping the room key" every single time!! That really is a very dangerous thing for us!! We always say that we won't do it, but it just becomes way to convenient! Also, we could eaten lunch in the room or packed lunch for the pool or even snacks, but like I said "SWIPE"!!! Actually, dinners were pretty reasonable about $15-25 (depending of course on your taste) for an adult entree and $6.95 -$8.95 for a child dinner. So you really could do Vero on a budget. Hope this helps!!

Glad to hear you had a great time...............we will be there is a few weeks!! My girls are looking forward to it since we haven't benn in 2 or 3 years!!!!

We just returned from Vero Beach too and absolutely loved it. For those of you wanting to save a little money and getting food for lunches, there's a Wal-Mart SuperCenter just West of VB, that's where we shopped for lunch food and my son's favorite quick lunch EasyMac.

We will definitely return to VB!!!

Thanks so much for that awesome report. We love Vero too and can't wait to go back.

Hopefully we will be able to pick up a 50 point add on or resale someday.

Thanks for the report - can't wait to go!

Just a couple of quick questions - did your girls go to the Discovery Club?

Did your girls do the Unbirthday party just once or did they want to do it again?

Bellesmama, our girls did not go to Discovery Club. We went to Vero with the idea of having them go, but they were actually a joy to be around!! We pretty much just all chilled out every night together and stayed late at the pool or ocean and had late dinners. They did love the Un-Birthday party and would loved to have gone again, but they only allow one Un-Birthday party per visit. It is the only activity that you have to sign up for the "day-of" and you HAVE to get down to Eb & Flo's by 8:30 am(they open at 9:00am) to stand in line to sign up!! It was worth it though, they really enjoyed it. Any other questions, please ask!

Laura
