WOW! Very good film.

Now, keeping in mind that my 6 year old is a Wuss (with a definate capital W), the beginning is quite scary. There are alot of aliens (Disney meets Star Wars) and some are not so nice looking or nice acting for that matter! Zak was quite scared in the beginning, but after I took him onto my lap  he calmed down and watched through my hands at time. lol

The voices are great! The music is even better. The visual effects are outstanding (can there be effects when it is animated?)!

It is definately geared toward the older boys. Finally.

There are some guns, weapons and fighting.

Overall, I was very impressed with the movie.

Any and all opinions welcome... What did you think?

Hopefully we'll be seeing this onboard the 11/30 Magic Cruise! DS10.5 is looking forward to it

I don't particularly want to see it, seeing as most current Disney films are just...awful. I'll stick to Lion King and Toy Story, thank you very much. ;)

This is one of those where I'm not quite sure how much I want to see it, but I will anyway. The most recent animated films haven't done much for me. I'm really waiting for another Princess movie. Since you give it a good review, I'll make sure to go see it now.

We just got back from our Disney Club preview in Houston. I thougth it was a pretty good movie. Looks like most of the kids in the theater seemed to enjoy it. I dont think its one of my favorite Disney movies but we still enjoyed it.

I'm looking forward to this. Thanks for the review. It opens Wed around here and I think we will be there.

Glad you enjoyed the movie! I guess I won't see it until is comes out on DVD, but I think it sounds good!

We saw it at the preview this morning, too, and really enjoyed it. They did a better job with it than they did Atlantis, though it's more along the lines of Atlantis than your typical Disney film. I was dubious about how well they'd turn a classic pirates film into a sci-fi tale, but they did an excellent job adapting the story and bringing you into it, even though you knew pretty much what was going to happen.

I'll go see it again!!

(And many thanks to MrsAPalm and her husband for taking us with them!!) :teeth:

oh it came out?

I guess I'm slow!
but then agian my tv never turns from TCM and they don't show regular commericals!

I wanna go see it!

I saw the preview this morning and, I thought it was okay...I felt that it was more geared toward boys than girls (no romance, this is STRICTLY adventure).

Although I must say...I want that Captain's mid-thigh-high boots!! They were KICKIN'!!!!! :D

Hmmm, glad to hear a Disney movie more geared to boys than girls, since I have two boys.

We'll be seeing it on Thanksgiving night.

I saw it yesterday also. I think it will be a big hit with boys ages 8-11. My DD age 19 and I both enjoyed it.

We saw it Saturday morning and I loved it! The visuals were outstanding - breathtaking to see on the big screen, the characters were well-fleshed out, and the music was really nice (without "taking over" the movie). I've never been a "Treasure Island" sort of person, but this twist on the classic tale was great for people with more modern tastes. I hope this turns out to be a big hit for Disney --- while it's not a girly type of film, I love that there is a girl hero in it (the captain). She was fabulous -- so if you only have little DDs, don't pass on seeing this movie (and emphasize the "girl hero" factor).
And I really enjoyed the company of Rajah and VonDrake - as always they are a joy to be around and it's nice to share something with people you like! (Too bad about the traffic;) )

We saw it Saturday morning also and really enjoyed it. I think I liked it more than my son did, though!

I loved the effects and the colors were outstanding. It was more like a video game than a movie! I wish now I could see it in the IMAX like my buddies will on Tuesday. I can imagine how attractive it is on that big screen!

Thanks for the info!

I wasn't too keen on seeing it, but now I'm more excited.:D
