We just got home tonight from 6 glorious days at The Wilderness Lodge.
Several days before we left, I sent a fax stating that even though we only reserved and paid for a standard view, would appreciate a complimentary upgrade to a better view if one was available at the time of check in.
We didn't arrive until approximately 8:30pm, and as I was checking in I wanted to make sure we had a non-smoking room, so I asked about it, and that was when I was told we were given a complimentary upgrade to a woods view!
We were in room 6201, facing the Wilderness Lodge Villas. Our room was in excellent condition, with bunkbeds, a request I had made when I booked the room. This room is a corner room, so it was very quiet.
Here is a photo of frost on the rooftops of the WL Villas...something you don't see too often in Florida!
And looking slightly to the right, this was what we saw:
I imagine that the rooms that overlook the lobby would be very noisy, the lobby is always bustling with people just visiting, or there for dinner at the Whispering Canyon Cafe, or Artist's Point.
I thought it was a beautiful resort, and has a very warm and welcoming ambiance.
The only little detail I was disappointed in was that the fireplaces there are gas. I think wood burning fireplaces would have added so much more to the atmosphere, but I imagine it would be more expensive and require more work to load the wood.
Our mousekeeper was wonderful, we now have a collection of animals made of towels, a duck, a bird and a monkey!
If I can help anyone with any questions, please feel free to ask!
