Hi Everyone.... I just returned from the Pop Century resort on Saturday. We had a great time.... This was my first stay on property and I have to say we will never stay off property again. After hearing good and bad things about the hotel before I left... I have to say I experieced only the good. We had a great housekeeper, and all the staff was very friendly. The transportation was great, never really waited for the bus. Also, I had no problems with parking at all. We had a room in the 70's section B Building Room 0465 and parked in the 90's section. I have to say that the location was great. It was right next to the food court and the buses. As as plus we could stand out on the balcony and see the fireworks. Overall I had a great stay and would definately stay there again. If anyone has any questions, please feel free to ask.

Is the 70's building a preferred room, how about the 60's building. Just wondering because we went with a preferred room this time around. Last time we stayed in the ASM and that walk at the end of the night to your room is the longest walk ever!! Wanted something close to buses this time. Also, I keep hearing about the POP cheerleaders, football players. Any problems?

Hello ~

How cool! I was just at POP and loved it too! I stayed in the 50's building right outside the bowling pin pool and I too, love the music all over...and the food court is yummy too!

Terrifficcccc!!!! I leave in about 18 days for Pop and I can't wait. Glad to hear the good news. I think I will try to ask for a quiet area, and on the top floor!!

:D

My DH and I just spent four nights in the 70's building, room 215. It was terrific, and quieter than our room the four previous nights at WL. We did hear an older gentleman complaining about the Pop Warner group - he said that security had closed the pool the previous night because of rowdiness and made him and another couple who were sitting outside while their laundry was washing move from the area. He was pretty upset that he had to be inside the laundryroom, instead of sitting outside enjoying the weather. It is amazing how different people's experiences during the same time period at the same resort can be so different. My DH and I were very impressed, and this gentleman was just the opposite.

The 60's room is close to the food court and main pool. We were in the 50's bldg and thought we were pretty close there as well. It seems like no matter where you go you will be pretty close.

As for the cheerleaders and football players they should be gone by now so you won't have any problems. I was at ASSports when they were there and I am glad I was not anywhere near a preferred room because I would have gone mad. And the foodcourt was always packed. Other than that it was decent.

We had quiet rooms for both resorts (we switched halfway through our trip). My only complaint was the bussing with ASSports, there just seemed to be a lot of waiting and busses would fill up fast!! Thankfully being at sports we were the first on and off :)

The cheerleaders/football players only stay at the All-Stars and POR. Those are the only locations available to us as you must purchase the "Pop Warner Package in order to compete"!! (Don't worry, I keep my girls UNDER CONTROL!! I know that a lot of people don't, we had problems with the football players hitting on our student coaches and following them back to their rooms!! They were relentless! That's for another thread!!)

The 70's section is not the perferred section, the 60's are. Check the map when you checkin and see which parking area is closer to your room. Like I said we stayed in the 70's but parked in the 90's since it was much closer. When we checked in the guest services person was great about giving us a location that we asked for. We stayed in the big wheel section facing the mickey phone. I think we were actually closer than some of the perferred rooms. I have to say it... there were cheerleaders and football players from Pop Warner staying at the Pop Century (which I thought wouldn't happen). We did not have any problems with them. However, they were over the pool quite alot while we were there so we avoided it (they were also extremely loud). I did see alot of them in the parks without a chaperone but were acting like typical teenagers. Pop Warner has ended so you shouldn't have any problems with them now. Have a great trip!!!!

I will be staying there for the marathon in January. Can you tell me if you thought the hotel was within walking distance of the wide world of sports complex? Also, are there individual soaps/shampoos or are there the wall dispenser type stuff in POP?

Thanks! I am looking forward to staying at POP soon!

They do have individual soaps/shampoos. I am not sure about the walking distance. I would say they are probably more than a few miles apart. I am not sure of the extact distance. You could probably call or e-mail disney and they would know for sure....

I don't think it's in walking distance of anything. It was relatively close to the sports complex, but I can't imagine walking all the way there. And there are individual soaps and shampoos at Pop, no dispensers.

And there WERE Pop Warner cheerleaders and footballers there, Pop Century caught some of the overflow from the AllStars and PO. They should be gone by now.
