just back from the poly - it was great!!!

Kutchyone -- I agree about the bus service at the Poly. It was not very good when going to aK, MGM or DTD. Long waits and then shared stops with Grand Floridian or Contemporary made for cramped and long rides. Saying that. The ease to get to MK and Epcot made up for that somewhat.

One thing I noticed was the bus would stop to pick us up at the Poly and it was pretty full by the time it pulled out. Then it would make a stop at the Grand Floridian. A couple of times there were people who could not get on at the Grand Floridian. If I were staying there and paying the rates they charge I would not be too happy about not being able to have great bus service.

interesting discussion about the busses, because i thought they were great! granted, i've never stayed anywhere else to compare, but we never waited more than 10 minutes for a bus, and they were never too crowded. maybe the times we travelled just weren't as busy? early morning or mid afternoon. i also found that we took the bus back from mgm or ak to the ttc a couple times because it came first, then it was just a short walk to the poly. i dunno, i was just very satisfied with all the transportation, of course especially the monorail to mk and epcot.

but we never waited more than 10 minutes for a bus, and they were never too crowded.

It was the same for us (16th-24th), never waited more than 10 minutes for the bus at the Poly so for us the bus service was great.

However, all but one time that we caught a bus from the Poly it just happened that the bus we needed was the first one to show up. And the one time it wasn't the first it was right behind the one that did arrive first.

Anyone that had to sit there and watch multiple buses arrive before the one they needed would probably have a completely different opinion of the bus service.

Even though the Poly was sold out the entire time we were there it did not feel like it was crowded at all. But I guess if you were in one of the pools on any of the afternoons you would have had a different opinion;)

Marsh0013 & DisneyDad in PA,

Please tell me about the Patio rooms. The door that leads out to the patio - Does it lock automatically behind you or do you have to lock it? We are going in october and I requested a room with a balcony or patio in samoa. I am a little concerned that I might forget and leave my patio unlocked. :scared1: Did either of you fax a request a week before to the poly? Thanks in advance for answering my questions.:goodvibes

My patio door never locked behind us on the many times we closed it. But we always right near where we could see the room. Except for the trip over to the pool bar for margarita's. :)

I did not fax a request. I simply requested 1st or 3rd floor Samoa facing volcano pool when I reserved the room back in November of 2006. One time we confirmed that the info was still on the account as we were confirming ADR's about 90 days out.

How was the food at Kona Cafe?

the food at kona was delicious! we ordered the pot stickers as an appy to share and they were very good. i was wary of ordering because they were duck, but i enjoyed them. for my main meal, i got the shrimp and scallops w/sticky rice and it was soooooo good. the scallops were cooked perfectly and were nice and sweet. the shrimp were breaded in panko & deep fried and the flavor was very nice. my mom got the mahi mahi, it came with some sort of risotto and veggies, and she said it was excellent.

so overall, we really enjoyed the kona cafe and are glad we got in!

Thank You so much for the reviews and the pics!
