my mom and i just returned late last night from a wonderful 7 night stay at the polynesian and it was so wonderful. another glowing review for the poly!

we arrived around 1pm on monday aug 20, and were first off our dme bus on line to check in. i had had my du agent (dan! he was fantastic!) put on a request for tokelau, and it was honored. we were so excited. it was on the first floor, not the pool side but the other. we could walk out our patio door and see the castle.

the room itself was of course gorgeous, took a couple pics of that too

our entire stay was amazing. aloha's everywhere we went. concierge was very helpful in upgrading our tickets and getting us ticket holders. we ate at ohana for dinner and breakfast, and had dinner at kona cafe. delicious! we also enjoyed the tambu lounge and pool bar, seeing as it was a two adult trip :thumbsup2 .

also loved the toiletries, anything we didn't use we brought home with us. the room was cleaned every day when we came back for our afternoon break by noon or 1pm-ish.

overall, it was so amazing, my first time staying on site, i had such a blast. any questions or anything, just let me know and i'll do my best to answer!

Aloha marsh0013,

It always makes me smile when someone has had a great time at the Poly (especially first timers)! Most Poly thrillseekers are so sad when thay have to leave, but I look at it as the first stage of planning for our next Polynesian adventure... BTWm - love your photos.

Welcome back - Marty :boat: :beach: :boat:

So glad you had a great time and that the Poly was so wonderful. We are planning on staying there in July and we can't wait. Your pictures are great!!!:goodvibes Thanks for sharing!!!

Wonderful pictures! Thank you for sharing! :goodvibes I'm glad you had a terrific time!

Thanks for reporting. Glad you liked it there.

Thank you so much for sharing your excitement!! We are going for first time onsite to the Poly. It will actually be kiddies first trip, 10, 7, and 5.
Love the pics!

Did you ever hear anything above you??

I requested the same longhouse as well. your view when you stepped out is amazing.

i think i heard people moving around upstairs when we were about to nap in the afternoon, but it was very slight, and not bothersome enough to keep me from falling asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow. we only really napped 2 days, the other afternoon breaks were spent at the pool. but really, it was not a problem with noise from anywhere. it was nice and quiet!

have a great time on your trip to everyone that will be headed that way, i'm so jealous! guess it's a good thing i upgraded to an AP while i was there...just an excuse to go back!

Thanks for posting your pics! We are hoping to stay at the Poly in May 2008. Did you enjoy being on the first floor? Was your patio nice? Obviously the view was amazing!

Thanks for posting about you're stay and thanks for posting those great pictures of the room. :thumbsup2 Looking at them it gets me even more excited for my families 1st stay at the Polynesian in December. :goodvibes

We had a great time also. We were in Samoa GV facing the Volcano pool. I had requested Samoa first or third floor and got 1607 Samoa. We got aloha's from all the CM's as well and really enjoyed the pool bar.

We came home with some extra toiletries as well. :rolleyes1

I guess we were neighbors part of last week. This was our first stay at Poly but probably not the last. However, it's going to be hard to duplicate this trip since our room location was so perfect.

Gald you had a nice stay at the Poly.

Here's our room view:

Thanks for sharing, your photos are great. Cant wait for our first stay at the Poly, 12/28.

marsh0013, your Poly room pics are the best I have ever seen! Really makes up my mind between Poly and BC for our 08 trip! Thanks!:cloud9:

Glad you had a wonderful time at the Poly! :goodvibes

One quick question (for anyone just back) -- How crowded was the Poly itself (restaurants, pools, etc.)?

Thanks in advance! :)

Thanks for the review and pics!! We are going in 2 1/2 mo. for the first time to the poly -- and can't wait!!

Hey DisneyDad in PA you were right below us. We checked in on 08/15 and checked out on 08/19 to head for Part 2 at the BCV's.

Well I think I’m a little more frugal then I thought I was. Let me start by saying the Poly and the Beach Club were very nice. The Poly was great when going to MK and OK when going to EPCOT as long as you caught the monorail from the TTC. The Beach Club was great for going to EPCOT and MGM. The bus transportation from both of those locations was not as good as CSR IMO. The pool at the BC/YC is wonderful, the sand bottom felt great on my tired feet and just walking and floating around in that pool felt really good on my sore muscles. The Poly pool was cute but really not a big deal. The view of fireworks from the Poly was great. The smell in the hallways that everyone raves about at the Poly I found annoying and very sickly sweet, I strongly suspect that they are trying to mask a damp mildew odor. I didn’t care for the sink and mirror in the bathroom either. It’s nice having that area free to use while someone takes a shower.

We missed the breakfast choices that are offered at the foodcourts, especially at CSR.

For the money, and I’m talking about rack rate, I really like CSR or POFQ much better then the both of them. Don’t get me wrong both resorts were good and I am very appreciative that I had gotten such a great deal making it affordable for us to stay at both but I would never pay rack rate or probably even a normal discounted rate to stay at either ever again. I suppose I’m just a moderate kinda girl. I do still have to give CR, AK, OKW and WL a shot yet though!

It really is great that Disney has so many resorts for so many people and their likes! It was a great opportunity but as I said I would never pay full price or even the normal discount price that is offered. We got the Poly for 3 adults with tax for $163.84 a night. The regular rate without tax it $354.00. I would maybe pay $200.00 but anything above that would make it really not a good deal for me and my family. I would be disappointed with the amenities for anything over $200.0 to be honest with you. You really are not missing anything but if you can score a good deal like I got jump on it.

Wow!!! Kudos to you for scoring such a great rate! You must have been very good, indeed! ;) I'm glad you got to experience the resorts and had a good time. :goodvibes

I agree that the rack rates are a bit steep, especially if you don't spend a lot of awake time at the resorts. That's why I'm torn between Poly/SOG. Is a Mickey wake-up call really worth an extra $150 per night (that's with a 20% Poly discount)? :confused3 :rolleyes1

captain cook's we never had a problem. don't think we really went during prime dining times though. picked up a banana around 7 or so, and lunch around 2.

ohana for dinner, we waited about 20 minutes after our adr time of 5:20. although, we were a bit late to check in. ohana for breakfast, we were seated right at our adr time of 9:50.

kona cafe we got really lucky. had no adr, so the desk told us to come around 4:50 for our best chance. well, we got there at 4:55 and were seated at 5:20, so i don't think that was bad at all.

the pool was pretty hopping when we were there from around 1-4 each day, but we always found a lounge chair for each of us, and sometimes even got a table with some shade.

hope that helps!

I am so excited to hear you had such a wonderful time! We are going to the Poly in 11 days!!!! WOOHOO
