Just back from the 5-5-05 Wonder...any questions??

Our housekeeper was really sweet. I put $40 extra in her envelope. She really deserved it. I noticed that my housekeeper, with other housekeepers, were the people who hauled off the luggage the last night of the cruise. I know how heavey my luggage was. She deserved extra $$$.

I saw allot of people in pirate attire. At dinner that night they handed out pirate bandanna's to everyone. It really was allot of fun.

Thanks for the fast reply Deelam
I have another question; On Nassau day, was there a matinee showing of "The Golden Mickeys"?

Thanks again,
Debbie

I don't know if there was a matinee show. I don't remember seeing anything on it. If you don't get an answer today, I'll check my navigator this afternoon. I haven't unpacked everything yet. My navigators are in my bags somewhere.

Deneen, I definately felt the swaying the last night but if you recall we left Castaway Cay an hour later than scheduled and I think the captain was trying to make up for lost time. The swaying did not bother me at all. I had my 9 year old neice with me but she chose not to go to the kids club. She liked going to the pool much better.

Debbie, I did not see anyone dressed in pirate attire at dinner because on the 3 day they do not do a pirate dinner. They do this so that everyone can fully enjoy all 3 restaurants. At the end of dinner, they handed out the Pirates in the Carribean bandanas. There were a lot of people dressed in pirate outfits at the pirate party on deck 9 and it was a lot of fun and not to be missed. Make sure to take your camera. I do not think there is a matinee of the Golden Mickeys but you have time to go to the Golden Mickeys and still make it to the Pirate Party. Any other questions, feel free to ask. :sunny:

I heard someone say that there was some kind of medical emergency, that is why we left late. I'm not sure if that is true.

I didn't feel sick from the swaying the last night. I thought I would. Instead, it was like it rocked me to sleep. I was a little panicked, with visions of the posidon adventure in my head.

Now I can't wait for my next cruise! I better start putting $$$$ away now. I just checked the prices on Disney's site, they sure are high.

I think the pirate's party started at 9:30 or 9:45. The fireworks were at 10:30. It really is a fun time.

I hadn't heard about about the medical emergency. I hope it isn't true. I hate to see anyone sick.

They did go up a lot this year, didn't they! I am almost afraid to see the 2007 rates when the come out, but I do want them to come out so I can see if it is even possible for us to go again that year.

They prices are high, but after cruising with Disney I wonder if any other cruise line can come close to Disney. That is, if you are travelling with kids.

I was on the 5/5 Wonder too...

There was a medical emergency and the Coast Guard helicopter picked up a child and took them away...I could see this happening from my cabin and it just broke my heart for the family...the mother was watching them take the child w/the father on the helicopter and she was being comforted by some Disney folks. I later heard that the child had fallen back off a seat at the BBQ and had a pretty bad cut on their head that they weren't able to remedy on the ship. Hopefully all was okay.

This was my first Disney cruise and I was so impressed that I wanted to immediately book another one for next March...but I've gotten quotes from Disney, Costco and Dreams Unlimited and the cost is about $300 more than we just paid...I just can't justify (at this point) paying that much extra money. Perhaps I'll just save up and go on a 7 day in 2007.

Same here, everything I looked at is about $300 more. I really want to do a 4 night but would settle for a 3 night to save money. I even thought about trying Carnival. But I know that Disney is a great time and I wouldn't want to be dissapointed.
My 9 year old spent so much time in the kids clubs that he missed so muchon the ship. He didn't see any shows, and he only ate dinner with us 1 night. I really want to go again and this time limit his time in the kids clubs, if that is possible. I know once they get in the clubs they don't want to leave.

They premiered the "Hitchhikers' Guide to the Galaxy". Pirate night was fun. I think the show started around 9:30ish? The fireworks were great. I didn't see anyone dressed as a pirate other than the bandanas that had been passed out. As for tipping...we tipped the recommended then an additional 15%. Our servers were "okay" and our stateroom hostess was great!

My 8 year old nephew spent almost a whole day in the kid's club and it was difficult to get him to come out! He sure didn't feel that way about the kid's club on RCCL! Now that we've cruised on Disney, I don't know that I'll ever want to try another cruiseline. This is the first vacation that I was truly sad to see end...I could have easily stayed on the ship for another 4 days!

I feel the same way. I have a 9 year old who loved the kid's club on our 5/5 cruise. I just don't think anythiny can compare. I guess that is why Disney is so expensive.
If I can't find something for 2006, I'm going to try and check out the 2007 rates when they come out in the fall. I read somewhere that you can get the best deals then. Of course, by then the prices will increase anyway. I'm just really hoping for a deal.

I booked a 4 night for March 26, 2006 the week they released the dates in the September 2004. So far (10 months before the cruise) the price has gone up $300. The 7 nights for that time frame went up a lot more. So yes, it is best if you can plan far in advance.

We will probably look at the 3 night for 2007 because we are Disney Vacation Club owners and our points work better if we use them during the week (Sun-Thurs) and then we can cruise over the weekend.

We loved the 7 night, but I am so happy Disney offers the 3 or 4 night cruises that highlight the best of their BEST (the three dining rooms, the three Disney shows, and a visit to Castaway Cay). That way, for those of us who just can't afford the 7 night cruises, we still get to experience the really great stuff!

Watch for the 2007 sometime in September (last year they came out the last week of September).

DJ

Thanks DJ. I will watch in September for 2007. I'd love to do the 7 night. But, my kids would still want to visit the parks, so the 3 or 4 night is best for us.
