Just back from the 3 day Wonder - Questions?

When are you booking a longer one?? :rotfl2:
My DH would not let me book a 7 day while onboard :( He is somewhat of a cheapskate - even though he had a good time, he is always commenting about how much everything costs while we are on vacation!
I told him I will plan on a girls only cruise to save us some money! HA!
Anyway...will plan on 2007.

Did you feel you had enough time to really enjoy it?

No...of course not! But it was our first cruise and first 'real' vacation since the kids were born, so I would take 3 days over none! But I was not sure how everyone would like it, and we all loved it so i am hooked!
We went to WDW at the WL for a week prior to the cruise, so the cruise was a nice end to the trip.

Did you get off the ship in Nassau or stay on board?
We sent the kids to the kids club in the am and got off the ship for about 4 hours - just the adults. Did not see too much other than the port shops. Later, we did take the kids on the glass bottom boat tour, which was kind of a joke as far as fish went. We hardly saw any, but the ride to the reef was informative. Maybe the glass bottom boat tour at CC would be better.

Hi There~

Thanks for the questions replys.

Who were your severs??? Did you like them or not?

How was your room? Were you in Cat 12? Were you a family of 4? Was the room big enough? Did your girls like the clubs? Did you like the food?

Thanks for all of your info.

Glad you had a great time!!!!!!!

Thanks

Patricia

Is there anything that you guys did that you would TOTALLY skip next longer trip? We take our first cruise ever next year and it is a 3 day wonder. Don't know how to squeeze everything in. And did you need all the extras (extension cord, duct tape, ect...) that is always suggested?? Oh yeah....did you pig out everyday and gain 5 pounds?? :teeth:  Oh yeah.....did you like your tablemates? We will have 6 and I hope to get a table with just us to have some one on one with my kids. :grouphug:

Call your TA or Disney (if you booked directly) and request a table just for 6. We always do this, and when we get onboard we check to make sure we have a table just for 4 (once they put us with others, but we got it changed).

For people going on the 3 night (we have done two of each 3, 4 and 7) I would suggest staying onboard at Nassau (most people write that they wished they had just stayed on the ship--this is your day to enjoy the ship!), don't miss any of the shows (you get to see all three of the Disney themed shows), don't miss any of the dinners and if you really want to go to Palo, try to 'double dip' and go to dinner at your regular restaurant and just order light and then make a late reservations for Palo after the show (the first night is the easiest to get reservations). Then make sure to get off at Castaway Cay and enjoy the island.

My other smaller recommendations would be to have breakfast and lunch at Tritons at least once, order the All Hands on Deck Cheese plate for a snack once, make sure to get some ice cream at Scoops, and take in at least one movie while onboard (I don't know why, but I like seeing movies in their theater).

Anyway, you didn't ask me, but I thought I would jump in on this question. We are giving serious thought to going to the 3 night cruises because we are DVC members and the points would out better to go WDW first and then go on the cruise over the weekend....AND....the cost for the cruise is getting so high that the 3 night is probably all we will be able to afford soon. Our next one is a 4 night, after that we will have to see.

I will try to be quick about this:

Servers - Xenia from Russia, Fascial (sorry..i think i am spelling it wrong) from Indonesia. They were awesome! They were very attentive and fun.
We had a cat. 5 Room 7574. I really wanted a verhanda room. It was so nice to sit out there and watch the ocean! The room itself was very nice. The overall decor was much nicer than most hotels I have stayed at. It only seemed crowded near the entrance - it seemed we were all so excited to do things we were trying to leave at once!:) Plenty of drawer and closet space for a family of 4.
My kids begged us to take them to the kids club the first night - so we did and they loved it! They wanted to go back the next day which is when we went ashore to Nassau. I would agree however about the comment on staying onboard that day. We were only gone for about 4-5 hours and had enough of Nassau. It was really nice on the ship because there was hardly anyone around, so the kids had the pool to themselves for a while.
Food: We all ate very well! My DH gained 7 pounds! Sorry, I don't do scales!:)
We thought the food we ordered was excellent. At Tritons, we both had the Atlantic Cod and thought it was very good. Our server brought out the duck for us to try, but we did not like that. We really enjoyed the food everywhere on the ship.
We were seated by ourselves, but talked with the people next to us as we saw them every meal and out and about!
Hope the prices don't get too high! I would love to go on a longer cruise next time!

Definately the glass bottom boat from Nassau! Hardly any fish and I have a feeling the ones we did see were mostly junky bottom feeders! No colorful fish at all! And If I have to hear 'YA MON' one more time @*&^%#@*@@! :)
We only saw one show and it was Dreams on the last night. Really wanted to see all 3, but my DH and I spent a lot of time alone w/out the kids the first night - if you know what I mean??!!:)
It is hard to see and do everything in 3 days so don't stress about it...just plan on it the second time around!!

1) did you have Herc as one of your shows?

2) Fireworks on Pirate Night?
Yes...Hercules was the first night...but needless to say, my hubbie and I had other plans!
Fireworks were part of the pirate deck party. Looks like you are a veteran cruiser...I should be asking you questions!! :) Hee Hee!

Forgot to mention what we needed. The extension cord would be OK if you use a curling iron. The outlets in the bathrooms only say for razor use. The blowdryer was kind of strange...like an old-fashioned hose type... but it worked fine and I spend alot of time drying and styling my thick hair! Which by the way, was pretty much for not in all that humidity!! You can plug in the curling iron by the vanity in the sitting area which is what I did.
No need for tape on our cruise. One thing for you experienced cruisers: Our closet doors had velcro keeping the doors stuck together along with the latch. Do all of them have that, or did a cruiser cleverly think to do that?
The over the door shoe holder is good as there are a couple hooks on the walls out in the cabin to hang things. We have the toiletry travel bags from LLbean for soap etc...which have hooks on them - so we used those instead. We always travel with them.

Is there a formal night on the 3 day cruise? Are all the dinners casual dress? Is there one dinner that is Pirate Night?

If you took children, how did they like it? If you didn't take children, how did the children on the Cruise appear to like it? I'm almost sure that if you didn't take children that you weren't paying attention to other peoples children, but I had to ask anyway for myself. Thanks!

There is really not a 'formal night' but when dinner is at Tritons, many people were dressed in suits, tux, fancy dresses. I would guess that night would be the most formal night on the cruise. Some dressed up and some did not.
Most people were dressed in nice dress slacks and skirts/blouses for the dinners overall.
Pirate night was the second night - Nassau day. That was a lot of fun for everyone! We were really prepared because of all of the things I learned on this board. Kudos to all!

Our DS7 and DD5 really had a great time on the cruise. Actually, they had a great vacation overall as we were at WL the week before the cruise. Our first time at WDW and DCL! Loved both! The kids loved the bunk beds, the towel animals, the special attention from the servers, shows, deck parties...etc:) My kids are very good travelers and I am very proud of them, I have to say! We even sent them to the kids club and they liked that for the most part. All in all, a great cruise experience for all!

I won't have a problem with the baby at Palo (the baby will be 4 month old when we go)? I read from the boards that Palo is very nice and it's a must do.
