We just had a wonderful stay at both the Swan (7 nights) and YC CL (4 nights). We had pixie dust and upgrades at both resorts!:wizard:

It was a wonderful trip with our DD's 18 and 4!:thumbsup2

Question away! :lmao:

We will be staying at the Swan for the first time in Nov and would love to hear all about it? Also wondering if you had any meals at the Swan or the Dolphin??

I have some questions re: YC. Did you feel you had enough space in the room for everyone? How about storage space? Did the rooms or any of the resort look worn? What was your view? How was the travel between YC and MK or any other park? What was the "feeling" of the resort? Stuffy? Relaxed? Casual? have I asked enough questions?

jacksmom...it was very nice and quiet at the Swan. We only ate a little bite a Picabu's...some cheesecake and fresh berries. It was good...that was the extent of it. Everyone was very friendly and the bus transportation to AKL and MK was great!:thumbsup2 Our sheets were changed daily and were always nice and white. Since we joined starwood, we were upgraded to a balcony resort view room.:wizard:

can'twait4disney...We loved the YC! It was not :snooty: stuffy at all! The commodore greeted us as we entered and exited the lobby. The bell staff and all YC cast members were extra nice and kind. There were several extra suits during our visit as the Democratic National Convention was at the CR, but they were so very friendly to us all! There was even lemonade in the lobby for guests and visitors. They always talked to my DD's and the elder said there was no comparing the YC with the Swan.

The YC room had very little wear and tear, especially when comparing it to the Swan. Its wear was more noticable.

We were booked for standard view CL and were upgraded to water view CL:dance3: ...we overlooked the entire Stormalong Bay, part of EPCOT, and the entire Boardwalk with most of the Swan to the right.

Our longest bus wait was July 4th morning...we waited for 8 minutes for a bus to MK. :thumbsup2 The resort was relaxed and fun...just what my DH, DD's, and I needed!:cloud9:

Can you tell me about the lounge, the drinks and food? We'll be there in a month! Thanks....

Thanks for starting this thread!!

Yes, please tell us about the loung offerings:)
What kind of adult beverages were available in the evenings?
Any Fairytale Cuvvee??? lol
Pellegrino?

I meant loungE...lol

So glad to hear you enjoyed YC...we are headed there in 2 weeks. I am wondering how you liked the CL there. Was it overly crowded? Decent food?

cantwait4disney...sorry I forgot to tell you that the rooms felt very large and comfy for the four of us! The full sized balcony was an added plus and we used it quite a lot!:thumbsup2 The two queen sized beds and the daybed for little sazzo were very comfortable too!

The YC CL lounge...

never felt too crowded or cramped, and we were there at all hours of the day!:goodvibes

had wonderful offerings throughout the day!:thumbsup2

had these things for breakfast::coffee:
juices (apple, cranberry, and orange), milk(skim and whole), coffee, tea, coffee machine (with lattes, espressos, etc.), Evian bottled water, 4 types of cereal, three types of bagels, two types of muffins, banana-nut loaf, and another loaf bread, cinnamon rolls, KK donuts, whole fruit, sliced melons, and other things I'm sure I forgot! Oh yeah, my favorite...vanilla syrup for my coffee!:cloud9:

had these things for snacks during the day:
cookies(chocolate chip, sugar, oatmeal raisin), goldfish, pretzels, mixed nuts, sodas of all kinds, bottled Evian water, popcorn, teas, coffee, coffee machine, iced tea, and lemonade.

had these offerings for the evening hours:
varying nightly, several cold dips, warm spinach dip, several types of hummus, mussels, pb&j's, crackers, homemade pita chips, sliced fresh veggies, and other things I have forgotten.popcorn::

had these offerings for desserts:
eclairs (chocolate and white chocolate), pb&j, tarts, several cakes (cheese, carrot, etc.), several tiny cakes, and other things!:woohoo:

had these offerings for cordials and libations:
lite and regular beer and ale(both domestic and imported), a type of each wine(merlot, red white, etc), Bailey's, and other mixers! These varied a lot each evening...but those were the standard!

All the offerings varied a great deal and nightly, but they were always replenishing everything and very friendly!:cheer2:

All and all...I give the YC CL...:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 !!

Any other questions...just ask!pirate: princess:

Thanks for the YC information! This will be one of our resort considerations for our next WDW trip! :)

Sazzo's Mom -
I'm debating between Contemporary Resort and Swan (or Dolphin). I see you've been to the Contempory as well as the Swan. Can you compare the two? I'm leaning towards CR because we'll be going to MK and Epcot and I like being able to monorail it to them both. But Epcot is close to the Swan. What are your thoughts?

skiingwife: I've been wondering the same thing...

Sazzo's mommy: thank you for all the info!! Any pictures you can post?

Thanks so much for the info on the food offerings! I am really getting excited. Only 14 days...and so much to do still.

Skiingwife...
I am a WDW resort purist!

The only reason we ever stay at the Swan is due to the teacher's discount. Granted it is nice and the staff is friendly, but for us it does not have that...I'm at Disney feel!

I know there are Swolphin fans out there...and it really is nice. BUT...I have been going to WDW since 12/72...first stay at the POLY, and I am a WDW Resort NUT!:rotfl2: :lmao: I will stay anywhere from the All Star's to GF, but at $149 a night I have to stay at the Swan.

If you want the true WDW feel stay at the CR!:thumbsup2 The mmonorail ride can't be beat! I do love the BWI, YC, BC, Swan, and Dolphin walk to 2 resort location. It really is our favorite neighborhood(that's what we call it), but our last choices are in the order above(Swan 4th & Dolphin 5th).

I have stayed standard view garden-wing all the way to Atrium Club at CR and it is WDW all the way!pixiedust: Granted there is construction there now, although it is very unobtrusive after eating there 3 times in the past 2 weeks. But I did change our ressies from there to BWI CL as you can see in my ticker.:woohoo:

The CR and POLY ARE WDW! Walt planned them and oversaw them, but alas he never saw them completed!:sad1:

So, for real WD...stay at the CR, but if you are saving over 1/2 your money at the Swan...stay there.:confused3 Does that make sense to you?

can'twait4disney...let's see if I can post some pictures for you! I'm uploading them now...next post YC pictures!;)

Hi, Thanks for all the info. Can you tell me the reasons you prefer BWI over YC and BC? I am always trying to decide which of those three I would like to stay at first. We stayed at YC ten years ago. :)
thanks, tink

tinkerbellmagic...It is just a shorter walk from BWI to EPCOT and MGM...and we always walk to those two.;) You know, get there at your own pace.

I really like YC and BWI as a tie, but I prefer BWI CL to YC's, so that is why I put BWI 1st. :thumbsup2

We have checked in and had ants in our standard rooms at BWI twice and once CL...:scared1: that was remedied quickly though...new rooms...NO ANTS!:confused3

So that makes me think twice about BWI...but we do love it there...and they remedied the situation immediately! I am a bugaphob and germaphob...my family kids me, but I have a lot of health problems, so I have to be that way!

YC and BC have never had ants...:rolleyes1 ...I hope they never will!:headache:

It's just the walking thing that makes it our favorite! And I have never seen anyone else complain about ants in the BWI rooms...so it's probably just my luck!:sad2:

Any of the three are great choices!

Pictures you ask...Here they are, I sure do hope you enjoy them!

July 4th at CG...was AWESOME; it was the coolest thing we have ever done at Walt Disney World! Little Sazzo said Uncle Walt, that's what she calls Walt Disney, would be proud!:goodvibes
Here are Fantasy in the Sky pictures and DD trying to rescue Goofy who got caught in the balloons!

I'm also going to post a cake I had made for my DD's at Coral Reef on the birthday cake page.

Upgrades? Did you have to ask for them or did they bestow them on you? What were the upgrades?

At the Swan, we are starwood members, so we were upgraded to balcony, resort view.

At the YC, we were upgraded to water view.

We did not ask for an upgrade at either resort!pixiedust:

I'm so glad you had a wonderful stay at the YC. As you can see, it's my favorite resort. The full balcony with a water view always calls me back!! Congrats on the upgrade.:goodvibes
