Just returned from 8 days at SSR, and while we were there we picked up a couple of tidbits.

1. During the rehab of Space Mountain, they are going to add some special effects and try to smooth out some of the bumps and jarring to the ride.
It appears they are starting preparations as you now enter the ride through a combination of the old exit and entrance. At the end you are dumped into the Arcade (which I don't recall happening previously)
2. They are doing the final testing of Star Tours 2.0! The CM didn't have any details about the ride, just that it had been in test for over 6 months and he thought they were getting close. Maybe it will debut for Star Wars weekend? :chewy:
3. For all of you Adventure Club fans, we spoke with a senior CM and he said the last private event had been held at the club last week. He said there is little chance that it will reopen as all of the surveys that were conducted by Disney indicated people wanted PI to be more "family oriented." He said that most of the cast have relocated to other shows around the park, including American Idol. My husband is seriously thinking of starting a letter writing campaign -- I'll post more if he does....KUNGALOOSH!

As these are not DVC related rumors, I am moving this to the DIS Rumors & News Board.

3 Hobbits 2 Disney -- I don't care what you have to say, I hate you for keeping Disney's America from becoming a reality! ;)

Just kidding. I saw that you were from Manassas.

Your information sounds about right. SM in particular, although the ride does currently let you off in the arcade. ST 2.0 also sounds real, however unless they re-theme the entire attraction to make it less like a Carlson-Wagonlit intergalactic infomercial, I can't get exicted about hopping on another Pee-Wee Herman narrated adventure through that galaxy far, far away. As for the AC, I never went to it and can't comment on it.

Let me know if you do a letter campaign. I already sent a couple letters but more can't hurt....

KUNGALOOSH!!!!!!

Thanks for the info - I hope the Star Tours rumor turn out to be true!

If your husband needs addresses for his campaign, check out the site in my signature. Apparently the "family oriented" thing really meant "outsourced shopping and dining" - hence the tequila bar/wine bar/restaurant/dance club that will be opening on Pleasure Island eventually. Former Adventurers Club CMs are also at the Nemo musical, Citizens of Hollywood at DHS, and the Showcase Players and What's Your Problem at Epcot.

just FYI...and I would not make such a claim if I didn't have very high confidence in my information on this, I have been informed there were NO, 0, NONE, NOTHING, in the way of actual guest surveys indicating they want more dining and shops.

Obviously I can not give my source so you can decide if you want to trust what I say. I report on a lot of things or speculation, but I would not make such a claim without a lot of trust in my own source.

They got rid of all of PI and the whole night life idea because of the image it was presenting, the police officers and security it required, and the number of problems it was created. They could have gated the island and solved those problems but they decided it was easier to just close, so they did.

As for star tours, I hope they go into cast preview soon! That would be fantastic!

!

Were finances a consideration as well? I imagine that if PI was making money for the company they would have found a way to keep it open. No?

The island was gated, it was only "ungated" the last couple of years. Prior we had to buy admission and show ID to gain access to the island, with an "over 21 " or "under 21" wristband. In fact, my elderly cousin who traveled with us needed a restroom a few years ago, and the closest was in PI. Fortunately she had an LOS ticket that included admission, and she had her ID, or they would not have let her in.

I could see the proverbial handwriting on the wall for the clubs when they chose to open it to everyone all the time.

I hope but don't necessarily believe we will ever get a star tours 2
