Just back from seeing Paul McCartney

I was blessed to see him 4 times in 1990. One of those was a filming done for his Tripping the Live Fantastic DVD. I was 5 rows from the stage during that. When I tell you it was magical, it was. And it was then that I really grew an affection and respect for Linda. She was gracious, funny, and kind to all of the screaming fans. Paul really seems to love what he does and seems to realize how blessed he has been. Would I love to see him again? Yes, but the memories of those 4 nights bring a smile to my face every time I think of them. I grew up on his music. Born the summer Sargent Pepper came out. Wore out my 45 of Band on the Run. The memories go on and on. So....those of you who have always wanted to see Sir Paul.......find a way. It is so worth the money and the memories are priceless!!

my very 1st concert was Paul McCartney (I was 15 it was the 1990 tour) then we saw him again in 1993 you can see me in the tour video if you look REEEALLY close ... then on his last tour We were in the 2nd row right off the stage. he read my sign I cried

It must have been in 1993 that I saw him at Gillette Stadium. It was a good show then.

But the show I saw at Fenway last summer was great - one of the best shows I've seen ever. Paul was really having a fantastic time. I'd read an article beforehand that said that he wasn't touring for the money, he was touring just because he loved it. You could tell. He was at his best. I cried during My Love. It was also really fun seeing my kids singing along to Hey Jude and other songs. I'm glad they got to see him. (It was a good summer for them - they saw Aerosmith and then Paul McCartney as their first "real" concerts ever.)

Funny story. Years ago when my kids were little, DH and I were pushing them in umbrella strollers down 7th Avenue in NYC. My DH is not a huge music fan, so he's one of those people who literally "wouldn't know Paul McCartney if he fell over him". Well as we were walking, a doorway opened up and Paul walked out and passed right in front of us to a waiting towncar. DH of course had no clue, he was still talking about something and never missed a beat. But there was a man walking beside me and the two of us looked at eachother as our jaws simultaneously dropped. "Did you see THAT??" I had to clue in my DH but the other guy and I were dying laughing as the limo drove off. (I often wonder if this guy tells this same story, lol.)

I've been lucky enough to see Sir Paul three times in concert. This past time it was an outdoor "green" concert and we took two of our kids. I wanted them to have the chance to experience his concerts. My daughter...huge Beatle fan...so she was over the moon when we gave her the tickets for her birthday. He appeals to all ages and it was evident by the wide variety of ages in the audience. He is simply amazing and I will continue to see him as long as he continues to tour.

We saw him in October, 2005 in Des Moines, Iowa. Even though our kids were young and it was a school night, we took them anyway. I mean, how often is it that you can see a living legend?

So we got to the arena, and as we made our way to our seats, we find that we are sitting right next to our kid's school librarian and one of our son's third grade teachers (they do team teaching, so he had all 3 teachers at some point)!

GREAT show. It was the day before his little girl's birthday, and he dedicated "Follow Me" to her.

He played for over 2 hours, then gave 2 encores, including "Helter Skelter", which he had never done live in the USA before.

The only complaint we had were the idiot girls sitting behind us, who kept complaining about us standing up. Well, the entire arena was standing for just about the entire concert! They were morons who left even before the show ended . . .

I was just "eh" for Paul and his music. Sure I liked some of it but couldn't really say that I was a fan. However, last July we saw him in concert and I have been a fan ever since. It was hands down the best concert experience I've ever had! I hope he tours again. I'm willing to put down big bucks for tickets, especially ones close(re) to the stage.

Our then 19 year old DD went with us to see Paul in Oklahoma City in 2002.
Having grown up in my house, she was very familiar with the music, the movies, and the stories, but she was slightly bemused as the sight of her parents and other baby boomers standing out in front of the venue waiting for Paul's limo to arrive. That all changed when Paul stepped out on the stage. She was absolutely thrilled with the experience and didn't stop talking about it the whole 2 1/2 hour drive home. She went with me in 2005 to see him in Omaha and was again very excited.

If you have kids old enough to be aware of what they are expereriencing, I highly recommend getting them to see one of Paul's shows. Many years from now when we're all gone and our chidren's children are reading about the Beatles in history books, it will be a cool family connection that their grandparents, great grandparents, etc actually saw Paul McCartney play live.

I've only been a Beatles/Paul fan since 2008, but I fell in love the first time I heard the music. If Paul ever came back to New York (which I doubt he will this year), I'd find a way to see him, even if it means waiting until I can drive/pay for it myself/etc. My parents aren't really fans, but it's on my bucket list.

Isn't it amazing how you see people from 8 to what looked to be 80 years old or more? It was a truly diverse audience, in every aspect

I love to see so many children who know every word of most songs by heart. Such good taste from such early age!

It's sweet that he dedicated a song to his little daughter. I feel kind of bad for Bea. Her childhood is quite diffrent than that of her brother and sisters.

I'm glad you went to see him despite not being a fan, and you got to experience one if his best tours ever

That's another thing to love about him, the way that he's able to bring families together, and have different generations enjoying the same music. That is so unusual!

I saw him at CitiField last July and I felt so blessed to be able to watch him preform. At his age, he still looks and sings great!
