We just got back from a eight nights at SSR in a 1BR unit in the Congress Park section of the resort. We LOVED SSR and plan to stay there again if we can.
Our unit overlooked downtown Disney and had a great view of the midnight fireworks show. We had a nice kitchen, washer/dryer, big tub with jets, and huge shower. The living room had a DVD player as well. Maid service was great, with a few little "treats" being left every so often, such as a towel folded to look like a swan that the kids loved.
We went to the pool once and it was very nice, and quiet, the kids loved the fountains and the water slides. The pool is heated to 82 degrees so it was usable on even the 70 degree days that we had while we were there.
The Artist's Palette has great food and is also very quiet. The house salad and the pulled pork flatbread are not to be missed. Each night they had a different special, the two we tried were very good. The grocery selection is kind of limited though, so we went to one of the stores off of Route 535 for water, juice, cereal etc.
We spent a few mornings at the tot lot as well, and found it a nice way for the kids to run around while one of us stayed behind to get ready for the parks. We didn't have any issues with construction as it was all going on on the other side of the street from the section we stayed in.
Bus service to/from the parks was reliable and not very crowded. The short walk to downtown disney was convenient as well. However People are discovering that a bus ride to SSR makes a nice short-cut to downown disney versus taking the DTD buses directly from the parks, so the buses will likely fill up in the future. We also took the boat one night from the golf club area across to DTD, it was a nice trip, but took way longer than walking.
Overall the feel of the place is very relaxing, it wasn't crowded at all. The staff was wonderful, and we'd definately recommend it to all.
