First- the caveats: We are two 30-somethings, no kids. Being FL residents, we are spoiled and head to Disney monthly. We usually take advantage of the quieter seasons to spend time in the parks, and avoid the parks like the plague during the busier seasons and just relax at the resort. This trip was a relax at the resort type of trip.
The room was adorable-- we stayed in Magnolia Terrace in a standard room with two queen beds, right on the first floor on the way to East Depot. We had minor complaints like the bathrooms (toilet and shower) feeling too squished for space, or the fact that our shower turned the bathroom into a swimming hole regardless of the flow or where the head was pointed. The biggest complaint as far as the room goes was with the beds. They were just flat out uncomfortable-- the springs were poky, the top blanket was ridiculously heavy and awkward (but you somewhat needed it if you get cold in the middle of the night), and the pillows were a little too soft for us. We also could have done without the early morning kids getting excited and knocking on the windows of the rooms as they walked by to East Depot, but that's not necessarily a resort complaint but a parenting complaint.
We found there to be plenty of things to do. Yehaa Bob was great-- I think we'll be back to catch his show when we're in town next. We didn't get a chance to try Boatwrights, but friends have raved about it so we'll also likely make a trip back at some point. We didn't spend much time at the pools since they were all relatively busy, but there's tons of stuff for families and adults to enjoy there. The horse drawn carriage rides-- totally worth it.
Everything was close and easily accessible. It was maybe a 10 minute walk to the lobby area from where we were, but we were also taking our time. I was a little hesitant about using the buses to parks for our dining reservations after hearing they were not so reliable, but we had GREAT luck with the buses, often doing directly to the parks and back to POR. Our only transportation snafu was the hour it took us to get a water taxi from DTD Marketplace back to POR on Saturday night.
Overall, while we enjoyed the resort, I think POR was just too busy for us so it's not quite our cup of tea. Again, we realize the time of year needs to be taken into consideration, but spring break at other resorts didn't feel as crowded. If you're looking to relax, I'm sure there are times of year where POR is a gem for that-- it's absolutely beautiful and spacious. It's also great for kids and families since there is so much for kids to do and enjoy. Same for adults.
