We stayed at POR 5/14 through 5/20 in building 28 of Alligator Bayou. This building was pretty far away from the food court, but the walk was pleasant. Most of the buildings in AB were occupied. The resort was beautiful and quiet. I loved seeing bunnies hopping around on the grass, birds and ducks by the water and lizards running across the walkways. However, there were these biting flies that came out in the late afternoon that were annoying. The room was in pretty good shape, but I can see where they need to be renovated. The boat ride to DTD was very nice. The bus service was ok. One morning we had to wait an hour and 5 minutes for a bus to Animal Kingdom and we were late for our PS at Breakfastorous. Other than that incident, the bus service was satisfactory. The main pool and the quiet pools were great and were never very crowded. Now for the negative..... The food court was a huge dissapointment. They closed the food counter that has the rotisserie chicken dinner and other "real" food. Only the pizza and pasta counter and the hamburger and hotdog counters were open. I heard many guests complaining about this. The food selection was very limited. Other than that, we had a wonderful time. It was very hot and humid, but it only rained one evening. The parks were not overly crowded and the longest wait we had was 15 minutes at TOT. I will be happy to answer any questions! :smooth:

We returne from POR on 5/10. We too got devoured off those biting flies. They seemed immune to insect repellent!!! It really hurt when they bit. They were worse near the pools. Glad you had a good stay. I didnt realise they made real dinners at the food court previously. We would have liked those.:)

My wife and I returned from POR a few weeks ago – we stayed in Magnolia Terrace. We too enjoyed the wildlife, but my wife had a great suggestion. Disney should put some animatronic alligators in the water and/or a few of the non-accessible islands to give even more of an “authentic” southern feel to the resort!

Yes it is. The part we liked best was how the music changed depending on where you were in the river. Very romantic at night!

So is this what was behind the green curtain in the food court? My wife and I were wondering what used to be there! Yes, we agree with you about the status of the food court – it doesn’t seem to be anything “exciting”.

Glad to hear you enjoyed POR – we would go back in a heart-beat!

Was the sitdown restaraunt at POR open when you were there?
We are going in September and I keep hearing about more and mmore things closed on the POR side.

Thanks!

Yes, Boatwrights was open for breakfast and dinner. We had breakfast there one morning and it was very good.

Glad you enjoyed your trip.:)
Did you need PS for Boatwrights ?
Is there any evening entertainment at POR ?
What building would you recommend staying in for a family of 6 non-smokers ?
Thanks.

We did not have PS for Boatwrights and we were seated immediately. It was not very crowded.

There is a lounge that has nightly entertainment beginning at 8:30. We went there one night and had a great time! There is a piano player/singer who was so funny. He gets the whole crowd involved. It's fun for the whole family.

Building 14 is the closest non-smoking building to the food court. However, because the grounds are so beautiful, I prefer building 27. It is non-smoking and is not too far nor too close to the food court.

These buildings are on the Alligator Bayou section of Riverside. I prefer this section over the Mansions section. Have a great time!

We were at POR from 5/11 - 5/16! This was our second visit to this resort - it is my DH's favorite! We loved seeing the bunnies and ducks! We stayed in bldg 14 in alligator bayou - a very short walk to the food court and we enjoyed the quiet pool late in the evening! my DH has bug bites all over his legs, but he was bit worse at AKL during the end of our trip. We enjoyed the boat ride to Downtown Disney one night, but be sure to bring a sweater or sweatshirt as DD and I froze on our return trip back to the resort when the temperature dropped later that evening! My DH was looking for the chicken and ribs POR used to serve and we noticed the lack of these foods also! I hope they bring them back!! We would stay here again - everyone was friendly and helpful! :) We saw piano Bob's entertainment one night in the lounge - he had the crowd going!

The bugs were really biting last week, especially those deer flies..ouch! I have bites all over my legs that are still itching. They were annoying, but not enough to spoil our vacation.

:Pinkbounc Dixie Landings ...or should I say, POR .. Alligator Bayou is our most favorite place.

I hope the food court thing was only temporary cause it had been a great place for years and years. (HOPE THE POWERS THAT BE READ THIS)

Hey!!! My mom and I were also there 5/14 - 5/20 (mansions). Maybe we saw you at Bob the Piano Guy's show. There sure seemed to be a lot of New Jersey people at WDW. We had a great time but were also disappointed that the one food court option was closed, and that there were no beignets at the bakery. Those were my favorite breakfast items. I had lime green ribbon and a lime green home depot mickey on my bag, but never saw anyone else. Only a worker at ToT and a teenager noticed, but I don't think either associated it with the disboards. Actually, the ToT guy was in character and probably couldn't start up a disboards conversation as we boarded our elevator.
