My girlfriend and I just got back from a week at POR, and we’ll probably be going back there next time.
Although we had requested a mansion, we ended up getting a place in Alligator Bayou. We were in building 15, which is a 2 minute walk to the buses and a 4 minute walk to the main building. Our Mousekeeper, Zenia, was great. Everything was immaculate when we got there, and throughout our stay. She even made some cool stuff with the towels, like a duck, big Mickey ears, and a shirt and tie.
We took the boat to DTD about 3 times. I’d highly recommend it for anyone staying there. It ran pretty much all day. It was a very relaxing 20-25 minute ride.
Check in took maybe 6 minutes, as we had paid everything off beforehand. The River Roost Lounge was a great spot to grab a quick drink or snack, the food court was very well designed, although you can read about our adventures at Boatwright’s by clicking here: http://disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=330473

We didn't have a chance to go the pool, since it was kinda cold.
If ya have any questions, I’d be happy to answer them.

I've been wondering about the bus transportation and the order the buses stop at the depots. Do they stop at French Quarter first or last? Do you know which depot at POR they stop at first and then which one they end up stopping at last? I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. I wish I was there now. We have had 18 inches of snow in the last two days with more forecast tonight.

zwe were at the South Depoit (Main Loby) and were the second stop on the loop. French Quarter was the first pick-up and drop-off. The tricky thing about French Quarter is the boats. They don't stop nearly as frequnelty at FQ than Riverside.

We are also just back from POR (2/8-2/11) and while we loved the hotel we didn't have the great housekeeping and bus experiences that you did. lol We waited so long on buses that everyone would cheer would one would arrive.

I was really hoping for the towel animals for my kids, was not to be even with the hefty tips we left each day.

How far away are the parking lots? We are supposed to stay here in May, and I will be taking my Grama with me. Just curious, as I have never been to this resort. Thanks!

Doombuggy, the parking lots actually circle the resort. Not like WL or Contemorary where the lots are in front (and no way like the GF where the lot is a joke). So you can actually drive completely around the resort. They have several bus stops as the bus circles around to end up back in the front. If it's just the 2 of you, I would request the Mansion. It's the prettiest and most relaxing side of the resort. There are elevators on the Mansion side, but no elevators in Alligator Bayou. I mention this because grammie may have trouble if they put you on the second floor. We were on the second floor in building 17 or 19 AB and it was a pain dragging your luggage up the stairs. On the Mansion side the walk over the bridge is just a little longer but not too uncomfortable.

They have just finished a refurbishment on the pool. How did it come out. I have heard they put in a different slide and a new bridge.

Glad to hear you had a great time...

Was the pool finished ?..

Were there any of the Mansions and/or AB sections that appeared to be undergoing renovation ?

Did you see Piano Man -Bob Jackson in the Lounge ?

We will be there later this year and its our favorite resort.

We heard The piano guy a few times while cutting through the main building. We were gonna stop, by the lounge was always PACKED when he was there.
we didn't see any major refurbishments being done on any of the buildings. Just a few painitng and tree groomings.
We didn't see much of the pool since it was kinda chilly, but it looked a lot nicer than the pool at ASMo we were at 3 years ago.
