Let me first say that my vacation with just DH and myself was the best :) .I really wish we could have that quality time together always. Although DS14 thought I was abusing him by leaving him home. :rotfl2:

The weather was not the best. Rain everyday, and not just showers, I mean downpours. When we first arrived to check in it was pouring. I had requested a king bed, but it was another $25 per night. I thought it was $10 per night. So at first I said no, then DH said why not. So the CM went in the back to change it because it was not working for her in the front and lo and behold all of a sudden they were all gone! Anyways, we got to our room early and it was very nice. We had room 8701 in Magnolia Terrace. Fairly clean. The entertainment center could have been dusted. We ran into the same problem at POP Century. Then that night I got into bed and could not understand what was at the end of my bed. (no not a dirty sock or undies! ) It was the bare mattress! First there was no mattress pad on the bed and when the bed was made the bottom sheet was not pulled all the way to the end so I had about 6" of bare mattress. So I figured that housekeeping would take care of it in the morning seeing that I left the covers off the bed so that she could see it and lo and behold no. :sad2: So needless to say I called housekeeping about 3:30pm and asked if someone could come and fix it. I probably could have done it myself but I'm on vaca and this is what they get paid for, and tipped for that matter! So we left and came back after about an hour and the bed still was not fixed. Called again and the woman said that she would put an asap on it. Went to dinner came back and the only thing that they did was put on a mattress pad and remade the bed with 6" short sheeted. By this time I was furious and called to speak to a manager. He said he would send someone right away so we went to the food court to be out of their way and when we came back there was a woman standing there waiting for us. She fixed the bed! :flower: Then comes day four and the changing of the beds (is that every 4 days while you are in the room or just every 4 days  ) Guess what, short sheeted again! We were leaving in the morning so I did not bother going through all that again. We have stayed in deluxe and in value and never had to wait for someone to "hop" for us. Maybe I am becoming too demanding, but I feel that it should not take 6 or more hours to respond to a guest's request.

Went to see Bob Jackson in the River Roost Lounge. He is great! :rotfl: Really enjoyed!

I did not realize how spread out Riverside actually is. I guess with the rainy weather you really notice something like this. I think that they should have separate buses from FQ. A couple of times we had to wait for another bus because they picked up FQ first. Especially during a busy week.

Went to see the Atlanta Braves play and got rained out. Oh well. WWoS is a beautiful complex to just tour.

Other than those minor problems we had such a great week. Vacationing with just DH and myself may become a regular thing!

Glad to hear that you had a great time in spite of a few problems. :rose: That really is too bad about the weather too. It sounds like you had a great attitude in spite of it all, and that's what matters !! :umbrella:

I was wondering about the bus comment....where did you get on the bus at POR ?? Also, do they ALWAYS share with FQ even during real busy times ?? I will be there with a large group in June and am a bit worried that we may not all make on the same bus and really don't want to have to spend a lot of time trying to "commute" to and from the parks. :scared: How was it coming back from the parks...same problem with finding space and seats?? Was it a long walk to the bus from your mansion ? We requested Oak Manor...how long of a walk do you think that might be to bus, food and pool ?? (We are travelling with a bad asthmatic and another with severe arthritis... :scared1: ) Is parking available close to the mansions ? We will have a car.

Did you enjoy the food court? Did you go to any other restaurants ?? What was the BEST part of your stay at POR ?? Thanks so much for a great post, and in advance for your reply !!

Short sheeted at Disney :rotfl2:

We stayed in the Hyatt in downtown Chicago and we were also short sheeted, I gave up on housekeeping, then, low and behold we forgot our toothbrushes, so we went to the front desk, they said to call housekeeping, 4 hours later we got toothbrushes slipped under our door :rotfl2: !!

I think because they are moderate resorts, they'll never have seperate bus runs from each other... :(

TheresaNY,
I'm not sure whether they always share with FQ. Maybe someone on the transportation board can answer that one. Coming back from the parks were not bad. We picked up the bus at East Depot. It seemed to be the first depot pick up and the last depot drop off. Oak Manor was right across from the main building. I had commented to DH about possibly staying there if we decide to return. ( I think I am all disneyed out for now. This was our 4th trip in 2 years.) This building should be okay to get to the food court. The food court was good. The food was good, service at the pasta line was a little slow. The cm that was waiting on us decided that her shift was up and did not finish with our order. Had to wait till the next cm came on. Some people just have no work ethic. But overall the food court was doable.
The parking lot near our mansion was close. I am not so sure about Oak Manor.
One of the other restaurants that we went to was Concourse Steakhouse at the Contemporary Hotel. A little pricey for someone on a budget trip but if you want to splurge and you like filet mignon then this is the place. That had to be the best piece of meat I have had. You could actually cut it with a fork. (I did!) We also went to Le Cellier's in Canada. Had a great meal here also.
I think the best part of staying at POR was Bob Jackson the piano man. If you get a chance, stop by and see him even if you have kids with you. He gets them involved also. Not sure what nights he is there. Someone else might know.
Hope you have a great time at POR. Overall it is not so bad. I just hope you have better weather than we did. I would probably stay here again. I am just spoiled and would rather stay at the Poly. (been there 4 times) But you stay where you can afford.
